Hi guys, ive tried filling caltex platinum & shell v.power for a month respectively. Personal conclusion, caltex platinum provides good pickup while over taking but its burning rate is much faster than any other fuel. When i tried shell v. Power, it provides a smooth kinda ride / acceptable burning rate & momentum. As such, ive been using shell v. Power ever since

Go with whichever you feel good with. But RON89 is the minimum petrol grade that will do well on phantoms.

A friend of mine who's the manager @ caltex holland road quote, Yes Caltex Platinum is 98 unleaded. Nowadays i filled @ Caltex jalan buroh which gave a 14% discount hence full tank will cost me $18+ instead of $24-25. Mine is 9 years and still going strong caltex platinum or shell V.power hence yours shouldnt be a prob either. Btw am renewing my COE next march and afterwhich am using for about 1-2 years before trade off since the need for a car arise.

The cheapest one.

Got 89 Ron mare? o_O

SG and Malaysia all cannot find.

Probably a miss spell by airwave lol

No lah, it's not airwaven, it's fairsquare say one.

Phantom maunual says lowest grade our engines can use is Ron 91.

Think only Thailand have Ron 91.

SG & Malaysia lowest is Ron 92.

Hi guys,

May I suggest that your chosen petrol will work even better with MSP Fuel Conditioner.

MSP Fuel Conditioner enhances combustion structure, thus fuel economy and also protects, cleans and lubricates piston head and combustion chamber walls, injectors, valves and other working parts in the combustion chamber. It contributes to fuel economy and much cleaner emission gasses (you will not have any problem passing a smog test). The catalytic converter lasts much longer.

The platinum and such enhanced fuels are simply fuels with higher octane numbers, which can withstand higher compression before they detonate. Using lower octane fuel is fine for diesel engines, but for petrol engines, higher the octane number, the better it is, as a rule of thumb. Lower octane fuels can lead to engine knocking.

Having said this, naturally, the EO rating at which the engine stops knocking is the bare minimum rating of the fuel one should use. The 92 grade fuel is sufficient for Phantoms for this purpose. Higher octane fuel, however does not lead to enhanced performance. When I say performance, I mean better speed, or better fuel efficiency etc. It simply ensures that during the compression cycle of the piston, the fuel does not self-ignite, thus avoiding engine damage. Now, a fuel with a higher octane rating can be burnt in an engine with a high compression ratio without causing detonation, but for Phantoms who have compression ratio of 9.0:1 is much lesser than bikes like CBR600 (12.0:1), CBR400 (11.3:1) etc., there is no special need to use highest octane fuel available. It is only for those engines (typically in newer bikes) which demand those higher octane fuels to get the performance as said by the manufacturer and the moto magazines. Better save those few $

Honda Phatom TA200 BROQUET User Review

Hey man, think my review is long overdue.

Been taking readings for a while and based on average, broquet has helped me increase my fuel efficiency by 10km/l (TA200). In addition, it really does make the bike run smoother. I know this because I had my tank painted about a month after I got my broquet and they swapped my tank with another ta200 tank they had. Rode with it for 1 week and could really feel the difference. Thanks for the good stuff. Happy to get good FC again.

my virgin post !

my friend just bought his phantom ta200 from this uncle and what he was told by the uncle was to use shell 92 and once in a blue moon, pump shell 98 to clear the exhaust and dirt inside the bike. i don't know how true this is though.

Doesn't matter what you ride. Just ride !

Somewhat true. Because ta200 very fuss-free. 92 can run no problem. But good to use vpower or caltex platinum once in awhile because they supposedly contain additional cleaning additives to help clean out n maintain the fuel system.

A ride a day, keeps the doctor away!
