Actually like the riding boots people wear for track, those sidi kinds with the "locking clips", like the ones on roller blades, any cheap ones?

Cheers

Guys, need some help. I am looking to buy a full face helmet, preferably modular flip ups. If don't have fli ups, it is ok. Black in colour, plain.

Don't ask me to go LAB cause the services suck and they don't have NETS. Anywhere else I can go to, where the service is okay?

Please note that I do not want to pay Arai's kind of price....just want an okay price Ai Pi Ai Chi Ai Tua Liap Ni prices.

Bro, you came to the right place! Haha, I am a fan of full face and flip ups! I have one by MHR, not very nice though, actually the zues I had was nicer, but if you are really into the BEST, the italian ones are sweet. Some back ground for ya:

The ones made by MHR, GPR, blah blah blah, alot of funny brands, the one problem I find is that the shell they use is all identical in size, from size S to L. In short, smaller helmets have thicker padding then, larger helmets. As for the Italian ones or more "expensive" ones, they have individual shell sizes for each size of helmet, which helps prevent you looking like a storm trooper.

Most common on the market now is MHR, I had one, but it cannot flip anymore cause the locking mechanism broke(cheap plastic parts). Could be my fault, as I "action action" at traffic lights slam it down like some sort of fighter pilot.

Anyway, I reccommend Chong Aik. Here is the address, they have one of the best prices in singapore next to LAB plus their shop is always quiet with few people and the customer services is excellent, and they accept nets too! They got some nice cheap Italian ones there, noLan is one of my favorite...

No. 206 Joo Chiat Road.

Hmmm I will go to Chong aik then. I got one white flip up ordered from US..no PSB sticker...and it makes me looks like a storm trooper...my head big lah...so need XL....L makes me get migraine.....

I find that helmet sizes from different companies are not uniform in size at all, for example, my first helmet(GPR) was L, My second helmet (MHR) was an M, my third helmet(another MHR"flipup") was an XL, and my last GPR half face is an S. So it is really weird unless I got a tumour in my brain that keeps expanding or retracting on a constant basis.

As for black, I reccommend glossy black as flat black will have alot of unsightly "stains" after a while...

Cheers...

Hey, just been having some confusion over jets lately, what does the pilot jet's purpose? I know main jet acts like a valve to control air-fuel ratio, and what about the pilot jet?

Man, this place is going to be quiet for a month with spiderman gone...

Cheers...

Bro, Ive said before leh... Both control air-fuel ratio, but at different throttle openings.. Main jet controls the fuel metering from 3/4 to Wide Open.. And pilot (jet/ circuitry) from Closed Throttle to about 1/4 open.

So when your bike if backfiring, it meant that the pilot jet/ circuitry is too lean.. Cos it only happens when your throttle is closed or near closed.. Hence I had been advising you guys changing the pilot as opposed to playing around with yr main jets!

so which 1 controls the 1/4 - 3/4 throttle opening??..how abt adjusting the float height??

Yo Yo Yo Bro, the areas individual circuitery controls is a little grey.. For eg, pilot jet/ pilot air screw controls up till 1/4, but still has influence on the 1/4 to 1/2. But influence gradually diminishing after 1/4 throttle.

While 1/4 to 3/4 is mainly dictated by the needle and the throttle slide cut-away.. Throttle slide cut-away mainly on the 1/4 to 1/2 throttle area, while the needle position from 1/4 to 3/4. Needle profile can change the jetting from closed to Wide-Open-Throttle (WOT). Main jet also affects the 3/4 slightly right up to WOT. And also carbs with powerjets affects 3/4 to WOT.

Float height doesn't affects jetting.. It controls the supply of fuel into the float bowl.. Should set it to the right height and fix it there. If too much supply of fuel is set, there'll be fuel overflow thus leading to bogging and plug foul problems. Too little, there'll be fuel starvation.. Causing high-speed lean-outs.. A float size controls how fast your float bowl's supply of fuel is re-plenished. And there's float needle, needle jet etc etc yadayayada..

Quite a few more mechanics of a carb I did not touch on.. But basically, the first 2 para is wat most needed..

cheers!~ (hope my memory doesn't fail me on the abv facts!! ;=P )

BTW all, my magnesium MARVIC Rims have finally arrived!!!!!!~~~ Kena detained and taxed at the customs.. Damn heartpain..

Yo hooooo.. But dun ask me for pix la.. ha.. I just packed it back into the box after taking it out for an admire-and-weighing session.. ha.. Then regretted not snapping any pix of it for posting... Damn.. ha.

Anyway, for those who're curious, they weigh 2.5kg each (front and back). All the other mag rims of similar size weighs around there, so Im pretty satified la.. hee.. Only better by those carbon fibre ones..

cheers all!~

:cheeky: Haha.. It says "Close Circuit Use Only. Not For Highway Use." What do you think?? Anyway alot of ppl have been using mag or CF rims on the road.. Shouldn't be a massive problem I think.. Yup its for my 125z.. The weight seems pretty decent.. Even when hand-held.

Cheers!~

So you are actually going to ride this thing on the road? Ha ha, but one thing always amuses me, you "zheng" them but you do not really enjoy the "ride"?

Hmmm, I think I get what stroker is getting at, the Pilot jet acts as a step down jet, for lower rpm range? And the Main jet is for a higher RPM range, so the pilot jet should be smaller? I mean like the pilot jet and the main jet cannot be 115 for example?

Sorry but I have never ever gone near the pilot jet in my life!

Cheers...

haha, strange but true... I prefer doing up bikes.. Not that I do not like riding, but if I ride a modded-up bike on the road, it'll lose its cutting edge really soon.. Very soon suspension leaking, piston lose, bearings creeking.. etc etc.. After spending so much effort, you don't wanna lose 'em all on daily point A to point B riding.. And chances are, done-up bikes are rather difficult to ride on the road, as powerband had been shifted up in the rev zone, thus its very torturing to be riding it around town.. Lastly I admit I do not have the balls to ride it competitively and "ride it to its limit"!!

Im trying to put the bike off-road once I start tweaking it.. But as it is, a little tough.. Cos budget's gonna be tight.. Might not be able/ want to afford another bike for road use.. Guess will have to take a step at a time.. Any sponsors?? :cheeky:
