But Carrefour don't sell bikes.... it's different, especially here in S'pore.

Well said paying them is one thing, if they get the job done well. But very often these mech will create another problem. Like adding scratches to ur bike or over tightening some screws or leaving several out as they think is 2pig of the big bike companies to put it there.

These mech who dunno come from where will just do a half pass six job as they have got no pride in their work. Any motor tiam in Singapore is lousy some are worst.

Yes they will use the same cloth, spanner, screw for everthing. When all else fails they use FORCE especially when it comes to fairings they will almost break all the tabs for you.

We have a sorry bunch of mechs in Singapore...maybe except those from BMW or Harley? Well just a comment but the rest don't even have a log.:nono:

Well said!! Anyway, IMO, the mechanics in most of our Sg bike shops shouldn't be called mechanics. The title doesn't suit them. They should be termed as changers(change change change). Generally, all they do is to tell you that

"Di, your this part spoil liao, got to change.

$100 for the spare part, you want anot? if you want, i'll ask my guy to get for you." then they change for you.

They simply just don't have the skills to rectify a problematic part, that's why they are changers. Just change and go. Then all the carrots will pay them the cost for the spare parts and somemore labour. And then like goon goon like that thank them and ride off. Of cos, both the shop owner and the carrot will be smiling and joking to each other. Carrot thinks 'this bike shop good, can solve my problem'. The shop owner thinks 'this carrot is good, big and got lotsa juice. Must eat 2, 3 times then can finish'

What makes this shop commendable?

Ah Huat the mechanic/owner of the shop is an honest and down-to-earth guy. His products/service are market-rate and may sometimes be a little bit more expensive, but it's worth paying. Why? For example, I recently changed to DID X-ring chain and stock sprockets and I actually told him I could get a cheaper price. He showed my 2 similar-looking sprockets in different packaging and explained the differences between the two (one is OEM, the other, a "replica"). I have been his loyal customer since my 2B days and I believe that he has not once chopped me (a little bit of course have lah. ALL motortiams chop a bit at least) and he has always given me options for the cheaper (chiong) alternatives or the stock ones. And the best thing of all: He opens everyday, Sunday and holidays included (opens after 2pm on Sunday until late evening).

I beg to differ. My bike got knocked down by my neighbour while she was reverse parking. I went to my original shop to ask for a quotation for BRAND NEW PARTS which were one front brake disc, rectifier and one PAIR of mirrors. They quote me around $800. I told my neighbour she can go ahead and try to get a better price elsewhere and I'll go. (She paying) Her friend recommended Funmaster's and she told me to go there. When I went there Ah Huat say can do this do that no need to change parts except for my rectifier and quoted less then $400. My neighbour happy so I left the bike there. When I went back, Ah Huat didn't want to tell me the price and said I not paying then why I bother. I went to test the bike. Front disc brack still not stable and braking still got problem. Best of all, he charged $795 total. When I questioned him he said he took out my disc brakes and send for grinding then do balancing and all that nonsense. And once again he added y I bother when I not paying! When I asked for my original rectifier he said he gave it to my neighbour becos she wanted to ask her friend to see if it was really damaged. When I called her she said she didn't take anything from him! Now I wondering if he got really change my rectifier or not. If he didn't, then grinding disc brake and new mirror ONE SIDE would have cost around $200 max. Then where the balance $600 go??? I asked him to test my bike and he said it's perfect and was meant to be like that all. Actually, there was no difference. I was so pissed off cos my neighbour kena chop jialat jialat and I gotta source funding to do my bike up again. How to say he honest and down to earth!?

y i felt this bike shop so jialat? coz they never make the statement clear b4 u buy ur bike!

last few months i was having some financial problem, so i delay my bike installment(no choice!), then later i found is almost overdue for 3months, then faster go make installment. the clerk there like i have own him (she does sounds like "him") multi million dollar, then force me to pay a 70bucks "searching fee". wat a f***!!

i told my self, i will never never never pay this 70bucks. not becoz i can't affort, is principle prob!!

Posted

when u nv pay the 70 bucks wad happened?

i can say there the people abit attp, anyway i delayed one of my installments and paid it together with the next month's one there was a insterest fee of i think of about 10 bucks. i think calculated from my installment amount which was 158.

for servicing or changing of anything.. hmm i can say tat a* h**t there quotes higher den normal prices cos there was once i went there he quoted me tis price( which was waaaay higher den normal maybe cos he see i noob) and den i went another day he quoted another price which was lower about 20bucks and he still asked me what he quoted me the other day. anyway the new price he quoted me after i checked was still higher den some motorshops.

Shop Name: Bike Production

Address:610 serangoon road

Phone Number: 63922555

What service/product did you purchase?

RVF

Level of service: 8/10 (fast help with problems with the bikes)

Level of knowledge: 6/10 (use another bike cable for me but still honda manufactured but I no problem with that as its juz a cable only).

Level of value for money: 8/10 (thought it was a very good buy, but later found out got mix up with registration date, abit dissappointed but give them benefit of doubt on this, but still reasonably priced i guess)

How happy are you overall? 7/10(ok lah, would have been higher if not for the registration date issue)

What makes this shop commendable?

"Good points"

for bike production, its the first time I had any dealings with them. Overall experience quite pleasant, no hidden cost, alttitude wise also ok indeed a little werid like some guys mentioned before, had some problems went back to them they also changed the parts for me, even order some parts for me immediately and changed the next day.

but its seems like cant test ride but not sure, din ask also lah cos too excited but

juz to note they verbally told me the bike in gd condition as they had checked, indeed it is in not bad shape after I came back, test ride and strip the bike down and check check, as for the engine only ask combine to check for me(visually lah, hear hear and test test only, not strip engine)

another point, saw that they actually clean up the bike swee swee on the surface b4 selling, good effort!!! some shop bo chia one.

"Downsides"

however, for the changing of parts, one of the part may not be meant for my bike model but I have no problems with that as its juz a cable, note it is still original manufacturer manufactured. another item was that there was some mix up rgding the year the bike was registered, I juz accepted the shop's verbal date mentioned without checking the actual date as he said that the log card was not available yet, when I finally c the card it was a year earlier, but I guess its my own fault for not checking and juz accepting it. but the price is still reasonable even for the actual registration date(at first I thought cheap so fast fast buy liao din even test ride)

overall, I would like to say that this shop is reliable still and service wise not bad, but like with all shops pls self verify all details dun be like me 2 excited end up dissappointed. And I would still recommend people there as their bikes are still fairly priced.

Shop Name: Combine motor

Address: Sin Ming Autocare

Phone No.: 64513386

What service/product did you purchase?

Valve Clearance

wash/tune carb

install brake hose

Change air/oil filters

Change Engine oil/Coolant

Change rear wheel bearings

Level of service: 8/10(Was attended to by Ah Kiong, kept the parts that he changed to show me as well as explain to me what was worn/damaged)

Level of knowledge: 5/10(i'm giving a neutral score as i'm not very technically

knowledgeable about my bike, so i cannot comment on their level of knowledge)

Level of value for money: 7/10(overall I'm still alright with the pricing although i believe it could be cheaper.)

How happy are you overall? 6.5/10

What makes this shop commendable?

Left the bike there for a few days for all the abovementioned things to be completed. Was not there so did not see how the process was being conducted so will not comment on it. As for the end result i feel that there was not much of a difference compared to that when i went for servicing at Guan Hoe.

What i feel was commendable was that i was surprised to recieve a call from them at 8pm to tell me my bike is ready can can be collected... i went down..took 2 hours to reach there and they were still open. I believe not many bike shops will continue to service our bikes until so late. Even when i reached there there was still another mech servicing an St11. Their level of commitment is very commendable.:thumb:

Was charged $550 all in all including a change in the cam gasket and washers.

Will i patronise them again? I feel that other than still being open at such a late hour, they did not leave any lasting impression on me.... If the pricing was more competitive, i would not mind bringing my bike there for further servicing. Until then, i'll be keeping my options open.

For $550 to do those jobs you mentioned you must be a fool to say that this shop provide reasonable /honest servicing.

If you talk to Hung at Guan Hoe he'll probably do it for less...much less and they are agent for SUZUKI somemore!

Your mechanic only open the top part of the engine cylinder head and no further and as for the rest of the jobs, the parts serviced are on the surface and easily dissmantled and assembled back.

So what type of skills justified this mechanic to charge such price...becos he only uses BASIC motorcycle maintanence skills which a low down Ah Beng type mechanic also can do!

Think!

Well....if you like throwing money ( which for a biker is highly unlikely).... I can say no more....hehehehehe
