    • Yeah, I let the engine running at idling speed for a few minutes.
    • No, what for? Waste of petrol.
    • Depends, usually will if have not started engine for a period of time.

if its not warmed up properly, the piston will not be well lubricated with the engine oil and thus causing more wear and tear to the engine.... if bike is warmed up properly, the circulating warm engine oil will ensure that piston is warm enough to drive the bike

so whats the exact time of warming up????

can help me...qiute:confused: hehhhee

i did some research...and its says that 50seconds is enough to warm it....is it true????aiya.....

i always wait till the exhaust smoke is hot thn i go... abit liao yu but nvm as long as i noe its warmed properly.

Usually 1-2 mins should be enough. U feel the trottle more responsive liao before going off slowly, for first 5 mins usually below 3000rpm. My idea is to let the cold oil flow first to all parts of the engine before going off slowly. This method dont liao yu and can warmed up engine faster. In order to protect ur engine is to let the oil warm to the correct temp quicky but at the same time not to rev too much as it create stress for the engine.

For cars is true as the engine is cool, the coolent pump would not work till certain temp cos cold oil need to warm up fast. If coolent pump on, it will increase the time for oil to be warm up so it actually costs more wear and tear. They suggeated warm up 1min for oil to flow to upper parts of engine and quicky move off to aid the warming up of oil.

Not true I adjust my ilding to about 900rpm so when cold is about 500 rpm only so I have to hold trottle a bit when cold.

Hi, I heard and read abt many different ways of warmin up a bike... some recommend waitin a few minutes til the idle RPM is stable without usin ur throttle while some jus ride away slowly and not rev-ing to hard till the engine is warm(and swear by this method...)

As for me, i jus start and warm up my engine while i'm foldin and keepin my bike cover (abt 30 sec) & ride off slowly till i reach an open road..

But when i'm on a rush, i jus start and go!!! (MY bike is MY slave...no the other way around)

MY BIKE is MY slave...

i normally start the bike , then while waitin , fold the canvas , after arnd 5 min , sit on the bike , squeeze clutch to let oil flow in to engine , then move off arnd 1 min ltr .

actually what my mechanic recommend is.. just warm up 30sec to 1 minute.. is enough liao..

cos singapore quite warm.. so no need to warm up so long..

but it doesn't harm the engine to warm up longer... as long as you have the time.
