Anybody read the Life section yesterday? I can't believe that there's a $555 Dainese glove going for that price!!

The article I feel is a bit overexaggerated on some of the pricing. However, the facts that protection is needed, is true.

Hi Ermin,

This Pair of gloves had been with me for more than 2 yrs....

Been thru a lot... heaviest of rain... not tested on pavement yet.

Hope never had to.. but as u can see...

There's enough leather to give ample protection.

Fits well... super comfortable...

All for $25.

The New Models are have slight cosmetic changes.. but

pretty much the same...

And into protection...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v484/2100spectrum/Street%20Smart/ElbowGuards01copy.jpg

These elbow guards are also a constant companion if I'm not wearing a armour jacket...

$35 @ Fox Shop just after Regina along Jln Besar... on the right.

It is use for Moto-X riders... they fall all the time.

Well... Can't guarantee I would fall...

Aiya... Cost of equipment varies widely...

Think the reporter was quoting "Dainese"

Mother of all leather riding suit... ha ha

See Rossi walk away after a 200km plus crash...

Check for the best price. But...

What's more important is to develop a

Good habit of wearing protection all the time.

The slightest fall can result in

lost of skin. Mostly from the hands, elbows & knees.

Don't need any battle scars.

Uk Statistic show that...

1. 93% of riders involved in injury accidents are male

2. The peak age for fatal accident 18

3. Comparing riders aged 20 and riders

aged 30 with the same riding experience,

the 20yr olds have

three times the accident risk of the 30yr old

4. Average rider starting 18 will have had more than

Eight accidents by the age of 35.

Interesting Figures...

One good guide would be your insurance premium...

Higher Premium = Higher Risk

30yr of age is the line that divides....

The Motorcyclist

If u can see thru all the above Statistics...

1. Motorcycling is a Risky Business.

There is no two way about it.

It is Also Exciting, Easy & Cheap Way to move about.

We Love It!

So if u don't want the risk... take a bus or drive a car.

There is a good chance each & everyone of us will drop.

So... Best we Dress for the fall...

And Unless something hits us or we hit something...

We have a good chance of getting away with a few scratches.

2. The Young & Restless gets into crash a lot.

- Two main reasons... Inexperience & just being young.

- There is fire in the blood..

that's why fighter pilots mellow when they pass 30 yrs of age...

So they go fly something less exciting.

So?

So if someone give me a warning that if u walk down this path...

It is very slippery when wet..

1. I try to avoid it on a raining day

2. If I really have no other route to take... I be extra cautious

And walk very slowly... I won't run.

Coming back to Motorcycling...

If you are just starting out with a new riding licience...

U wanna learn from other riders experience.

If you are young... (below 30)... It is good

to hold back if your riding aggression..

Easier said than done...

I was young once... and I never felt threaten.

I had Flip over may scooter once going down Bradell Rd

One evening... Going to see my gf.

My front wheel went into a pot hole in the middle of the rd.

Most fortunate the pickup behind me just manage to stop.

In 3 weeks... I was back to my carefree riding self.

I was young.

Happy Riding!

Great reflection Spectrum.

I'm just wondering... can the young ever ride safely?

The hormones and daredevil attitude raging within... perhaps some things are pre-destined... who falls and doesn't get up, and who rides on...

About the tyre pressure... you might want to try softening your suspension.

what bike're you riding, and what pressure you using? haha, and what's your weight?? bumpy ride could be anything, really... overinflating tires, bad suspension set-up, worn wheel bearings... underinflating your tires may mean poorer road handling and tire-life, you might want to consider your suspension rebound, or lighter fork-oil etc.

At this age of Internet...

The means of communicating is great...

If someone had told me about the danger of riding...

Perhaps I would had listen...

Perhaps... & avoid the many falls in my younger days.

But no one told me leh...

(we're at the age of pen & paper)

All I had was a riding test at Maxwell.

And before that... I Put on a L plate...

And with that... I could ride anywhere without pillion.

Everyone was riding around with a L plate...

(all we had to do is pass theory)

So Internet is a powerful tool.

And this forum is one place where the safety

message can be spread....

.... to those that like to listen.

About young riders and hormones... Whatever you do, the power available at the flick of your wrist is always addictive... The higher incidence of accidents with new male riders is fully justified. With raging testosterone in the blood, the will to be the best on the street most often clouds your judgement.

I feel even if you are finally a 19 year old Zen Buddhist, an accident will happen... The first fall or skid is a rite of passage. It should always hurt your ego more than it did your body. It's God's way of saying that you are not immortal. Let's just pray your accidents are minor.

As the Malaysia cub riders makes up the main bikers...

Perhaps I may like to suggest a Large Video

Since the spend hours there everyday...

Might as well put the time to good use... :thumb:

DO WE LEARN FROM OUR MISTAKES?

Sadly the evidence shows that we do not learn very well from our mistakes.

UK Statistic shows that...

- Riders who have had and accident in the previous 3 yrs are three time more likely than the average to have an accident in the following year.

So if that's true... rider tend to repeat the same type of accident.

If we have an accident or near miss... we should think very cafefully about what we could had done to avoid the situation.

Surprising Stats...

This finding somehow seems reasonable...

Riding syle is already 'fixed' in some riders... even if an accident occurs, it is highly likely little will change to make most riders change.

People who are unlikely to get into accidents will not be in this sample... so their chance of getting into the 'next' accident will also be small.

So like my earlier point, how much can education and warnings and rules really change a rider who is unconvinced about riding safely. :giddy:

Just seems an Interesting Point...

Not learning from our mistakes...

But Good Habits Can be developed... Just need a bit of work.

U may not be able to learn from the next mistake...
