not TODAY while riding but on Monday...

 

I was turning right from Bedok South towards the AYE when I heard a klunk that made me pull over and check what's wrong... to my horror, my STOCK exhaust was dangling... it's meant to be secured to the swing arm by THREE bolts and I'm stupendified that all 3 were missing, rode from Bedok to workshop in AMK at 50km/h to reduce vibrations and got it bolted back. Next thing I know, I started the engine and the bike sounded like a lawn mower... liao... header confirm cracked... so they unbolted the entire exhaust, welded it and bolted it back again...

 

Situation normal so far...

 

Last night, I went to check the bolts after riding...

 

TWO were missing... wtf... how can this happen...?? There's only 1 bolt left securing the exhaust quite tightly but TWO bolts dropping again? wth...

Due to vibrations the screws can and will undo itself. Apply loctite to the threads before tightening the screws.

Today while riding to work this morning jam along ECP before Suntec exit, was lane splitting between lane 1 & 2. I spotted a big bike keeping extreme right of lane 2, so I anticipated he might also lane split when lane 2 traffic comes to a stop.

 

So I slow down my speed further and ride more cautiously as I'm nearing him. Just as I was about to pass beside him, he suddenly lane split on my left which is impossible for me to do E Brake. Fortunately for me lane 1 has one car length space for me to swerve in, which then comes to a complete stop.

 

Luckily for me that my speed was slow and I did anticipate his move. But he failed to check his blind spot and filter right to lane split which I'm already beside him almost resulted a possible accident. Grrr...

 

Yup... Must careful of these type of riders... Especially Malaysian scooters... I'm lanesplitting at 120-140km/h and these Malaysians cut in just like that... I'm really tempted to just bang into them and sue them in court... Or just kick them to teach them a lesson... But only thing is, Singaporeans like to complain, and I was afraid some Singaporean driver would report it... So I did not do stupid things... Lol... But it would really feel good to teach these "racers" a lesson on checking blind spots... I use the word "racer" because I don't see motogp racers using side mirrors and they seldom check their blind spots... So there...

Last night while riding, I met this taxi driver road hogging, 20-30km/h at a 50km/h road. I horned him and overtook him. Turns out he was busy using his phone texting or msging while driving. Please TP, please give me permission to whack him. After I whack him, u can disqualify his license. Thanks.

Get a pack of cable ties!

That's what one of my friends a lady biker did when the bolts fell out.

 

One way is to use expoy to glue the new bolts and nuts so that they cannot unscrew even with vibration. Then if ever you need to take the exhaust out just use the solvent to dissolve the expoy.

 

Another way if you are the cheapo type is to use those 50 cents super glue from those "Closing down sales" shop. Not sure if they can withstand heat though.

 

Last way is to take rusty bolts and nuts then use double or triple nuts on one bolt. The rust will jam the nuts and bolts together, even b=vibrate also cannot come out. But the bad point is later use spanner also cannot come out!!!

Need to use WD40!

 

Today while riding, I helped a rider who ran out of petrol and was pushing his red sports bike up the slope after the Malaysia customs towards the shell station. I remembered pushing my DR up the slope last year and nobody stopped to help.

 

So I gave his about 150 ml of petrol and saw to it that he can get to the petrol station before going off.

 

Damn... forgot do this type of kind deed so got karma one.

Karma odometer goes over 99999 back to 00000 machiam never do a single good deed in life like that....

Last time help people, end up bad luck for many days....

I ve begin my "make e roads safer" operation. Dunno how long my mood will last to keep doing this. ^^

 

sharing so tat if others wish to join in would be good. E gist of my concept is to keep reporting e offences i c on e roads and hope tat TP will take action to issue warnings. Y i say warning is becoz some of this offense r things any of us may commit when we r blur. Only for e more serious cases i would suggest to charge.

 

Of coz i noe and i expect some will say ai ya, no use, TP wont work wont do their job, etc. But i believe/accept tat TP cant be every where to catch or warn every single lousy road user. Thus if we riders wish to see a safer road, i believe and urge everyone to chip in e effort.

 

Sadly e requirements of reporting is also not tat simple thus pls refer to e email template in e next post. I ve also feedback tat it does not make sense for a compulsory independent witness as it is not possible most of e time, refer to my email.

 

So once again, i urge all motorist to help out. Put in a bit of effort to write in and report things tat u believe shouldnt be.

I would like to make a report on a driver which i believe have committed an offence of dangerous driving. I do not have any information on whether it is an repeated behavior on the driver thus i would hope that at the least a warning is issued. Information as required below.

 

Vehicle registration number: ED75D

 

Date/Time: 15th Jun 2012 roughly around 1755 hours

 

Location: On Jurong Pier Road moving towards Jalan Boon Lay. The vehicle named is coming from Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim filtering into Jalan Boon Lay.

 

Nature of Office: The vehicle named as seen in the video was attempting to enter Jalan Boon Lay from the filter lane (From Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim). In the video, it can be seen that the vehicle directly in front of my vehicle had to perform sudden breaking action as the distance is deem unsafe. In the end, the vehicle named from my point of view "forced" it's way into the lane rather than waiting for the next safe chance. No signal light was saw. This may be a minor issue but in other scenarios may cause an accident in the event that other motorist may by reflex avoid this vehicle which may result in undesireable results.

 

Confirmation of willingness to testify in court: Yes although the video evidence is obvious. My intention is to assist the traffic police to cut down on such driving habits which I can only comment as careless/neligence. When no accidents are caused, these poor habits can be ignored but by leaving them alone, these poor habits may escalate into larger issues which no longer can be ignored. But by then, lives may have already been lost.

I sincerely hope that the Authorities in this case the Traffic Police Department can do their utmost to provide assistance in reducing the dangers on the roads. In this case careless/neligence in driving habits.

 

I sincerely request that the Authorities in this case the Traffic Police Department is able to accept the video evidence as a independent witness. Where necessary please analyse the video to ensure that I am not accusing the motorist of an action which did not happen. Due to the nature of the observation, I observed this display of poor driving habit while on the road, thus it was impossible to request for the assistance of any "independent witness".

 

I sincerely request that if possible, the Authorities in this case the Traffic Police Department can issue a warning to the motorists to inform/remind them that there are other road users on the road and exiting a minor to major road without any signal indication and without sufficient safe distance/clearance can be classified as dangerous driving.

In this email, I also would like to feedback that the requirements of reporting traffic violation can be adjusted. In my situation, I observed an offence while on the road. In such a scenario, although it is possible that other road users may have noticed the poor driving habit but fact is most would not report this. In the event that someone decides to report this, it would be impossible for them to request for other road users to become an "independent witness".

 

Even if the situation is such that an accident has occurred, it is still difficult to request for other road users to become an "independent witness". The reason I am saying this is because the immediate witness may have moved off instead of stopping to render their assistance and offer to be a witness. Subsequently any other personnel who is giving assistance to the victims may not be in the know to become a witness.

 

Thus if possible, I sincerely hope that the Authorities in this case the Traffic Police Department can look into the requirements of reporting traffic violation especially requirement (6).

Yes. This is e 2nd. Becoz e reporting requirement is very strict. Basically both case fail requirement (6) which is "independent witness" but if u read my feedback, most of e time is impossible.

 

If i c something while driving/riding, how do i grab hold of another driver/rider and shout "give me ur contact number!!! Need independent witness then can report!!!" stupid? I think so.

 

Hope more pple can feedback this point. Else they can just throw out both my reports becoz no fulfil requirements.
