yesterday on the way home on PIE, i was lanesplitting due to jam btn lane 1 and 2, following a rider on a GS with about 1.5 bike length distance. The GS went about 50-60kmph cos had to maneouvre between the cars with his 2 humongous sideboxes. Suddenly, this sg-registered kup rider wearing those cap-style helmet, t-shirt, berms, slipper overtook me from a small gap on my right, nearly side-swiping me, and just cut in front of me into that 1.5 bike length space. I jammed brake. The unthinkable thing happened. the GS also brake, cos in front too tight for him to squeeze through. The guy on the kup went down. Heng i already braked and stopped, otherwise sure jialat.

 

The cars on left and right continued to avoid and just went past and i felt helpless cos no one would stop to help and i can't just park my bike in the mid of the e'way like that without protection. In the end, some riders behind helped to block the lane, then i wheeled his kup to the shoulder slowly while another 2 riders help the kup rider to the shoulder. The kup rider left shoulder shirt one big hole and bleeding, arms and legs also bleeding cos skin got scratched off. think he sprained his ankle also.

 

Didnt stay to find out what happened after that as i was in a rush to collect something before the place closed and one of the riders said he'd stay and call for ambulance.

 

Only can think of why the kup rider want to do this type of thing. the space is clearly too small yet he want to squeeze. I only SP, in front is big-assed GS, he cannot see that i kena blocked by the less agile (in terms of lanesplitting) GS meh?

Finally a real life example of wat i ve always been complaining about. Those riders who r very skilled and attempt to overtake even during LS. Sadly i can only say orbi. Flame me if u will but I say again and again. LS is already very risky, dun make it even higher risk and also bring others into it.

 

If e forumer didnt brake immediately when e kup cut in, he could ve joined e kup rider.

 

Disclaimer: i dunno wat happened rrally, but im only commenting on e risky LS overtaking which is very high risk.

Kup rider wasn't p-plate. One of the riders behind me who stopped to help told me that kup rider already like this a few km behind and he kena from that kup rider also, that's why he following the kup to try and scold him.

 

The funny thing was, he was one of those who help the kup rider to the shoulder. while assisting the kup rider, he down there scold and scold. father mother cheese pie everything also come out, and the kup rider got damn sorry face and crying.

Dat rider deserves it... Got elephant infront so no choice lah gotta wait, cnt wait, go find other lane... Dats y when lane splitting need to constantly chck ur side mirrors to see got mangkuk follow closely or not... If u feel they r too close, tab lightly on ur brakes to warn them... That's e reason i fix e back off xp module, a slight tap, e brake lights will blink 5 times..

Saw two kups causing an accident at teban gardens AYE towards Changi. Dunno what's the problem there.

The positive thing is we ve 1 more rider who now understands and believe in e high risk of LS overtaking. Hopefully he will spread e word to his frenz. I also hope fellow riders, when LS, pls only try to overtake in safe conditions.

 

Often i c those who try to overtake in tight situations. Dunno wat trying to do with the few seconds saved.

I leave at least half lane and half car length when overtaking during lane splitting. And I only overtake Malaysia bikes. Seldom Singapore bikes because Singapore bikes would often give way to me. Really irritating Malaysia kups. LS at 60, might as well follow behind a car.theyre going at 40-60 too. Wouldn't make much difference if you're ls at 60. I LS range from 60-90 speed limit. I say 60-90 because it's the legal speed limit. So ya. And it's not only a few seconds. It's a difference of a few minutes the entire journey saved. LS at 60, reach destination in 45 minutes compared with LS at 90 and reach destination in 30 minutes compared with 160-180 on clear roads and reach destination in 10 minutes. All the same distances, all the different timings. And 15 minutes in cloudy weather makes a lot of difference whether you'll get caught in the rain or not. And the difference in speed makes a lot of difference whether your bike is fast or slow enough to avoid those cars changing lanes without signalling or not. Everything comes into consideration. Time, speed, reaction. The longer you're on the road, the less alert you'll tend to be. Time. The slower u go, the longer it takes u to reach your destination. Speed affecting time. And lastly reaction. Reaction slow, u will accident no matter how slow or fast or alert u are. That's what I learnt from past experiences. Alertness level must be high on the road. must react within 1-2 seconds when u see something wrong. the longer you ride on the road, the more fatigue you'll get and less alertness on the road. The slower u ride, the longer you'll be on the road. Everything comes into consideration. Now u know why taxi drivers are always doing stunts on the road? Because of fatigue. Driving for how many hours straight. Crazy people.

Bro, i don't know a lot of things in this world. But one thing i know is, if you just ignore him and dun do anything, he will get bored and not karjiao you. It may take days, weeks, months, years, i dont know. But one thing i know is, if u ignore him, he will be talking to himself and end up being the bowl here. Dont stoop to his level, be the bigger man and just walk away. In life u will meet many pple who do this type of thing, need to learn to get over it.

 

Btw, Wan, not say i target u arh, no offence. But troll also have limit lah, mod warn already u still karjiao that feller, asking for it leh bro. Hehehe...

They know wat they r doing bro, they juz want to b ahead without thinking for e safety of others... LS at high/fast speed but judgement poor oso no point... But LS in sg is nothing compared when i rode in Bangkok on my way to Pattaya... They r superbly skillful...

Ur post first part i agree exvept for e part against MY bikes. Both sg and MY bikes ve given me to grumble during lS. Like wise both ve given me a reason to raise my hand in thanks.

 

Then ur second part regard LS speed. Wrll be careful k. How fast u wan to go is ur decision. But it seems tat if ever u see me in front of u during LS, u wil curse me also.

 

As for being alert on e road. I ve not had cause for concern in regards to riding long on sg roads. Becoz max is around 45min? not enough to make me feel e fatigue. Maybe u need more rest? Or maybe can be like those MY bikes, take breaks at rain shelters. Go fast safely k!

 

As for 15min with dark clouds. I disagree. If might rain, wear rain coat. If dun wan rain the blame urself ba. If u never bring rain coat also urself to blame ba. If say sport bike no space, again is ur choice. Dun make ur choice become a reason to make front riders go faster during LS. :(

Last time when i was LS at lane 1/2 i nearly kanna a rider cut my lane from lane 2/3. Suddenly come no signal no check. Ever since then now when i at lane 1/2 and reaching a entry to expressway, i will monitor e lane 2 to lane 4 area, watching for bikes wjo may come over. I will also maintain low spd to prep for e brake. I always keep in mind tat i might need to e brake anytime.

 

Now a days i add a new rule for myself. During LS, if i notice got bike behind me. 1) i c if i too slow, if yes i try to give way, if not i bo pian. 2) i will monitor my side mirror whenever there is a small space open up on e sides. This is to prep myself in case e behind rider decide to take e risk. Save me mamy trouble already becoz i was calm and prep for it.

 

Sad though tat now a days riding is even more not safe than in e past becoz some riders also dun give face to other riders. :(

There's this once, i really need to pangsai, think ate something wrong for supper... At 1am, from woodlands chiong to tpy averaging 120, cos still want my licence if suey suey TP see... when reach home, wah, chiong into toilet and bomb it. Helmet still on somemore, no time to take out. sibeh shiok i tell you, the feeling.

I don't give chance to JB bikes, SG bikes I play nice, JB ones, out corner, out manuever, pressure them to the side till they give way, whatever it takes if they play stunt.

 

EDMW hor? Most of the people there don't even have license.
