After replacing my rear brake pads, and also the ball bearings in the rear tyre, the bike is now very hard to manually push forward or backward.

Is this normal or should I go back to the shop?

Thanks.

Update: Went back to the shop, found that this was due to the rear brake caliper jammed. So with the new thick brake pad, the tyre was not moving freely....

Hi, I like to check out something..

I have a car whose battery is 12V. Can it be used to start a TA200 using the crocodile wires? (I dunno what the wires are called, those black and red wires with a crocodile clip).

Thanks and have a good day.

hello everyone. Just got a phantom 150 last mth, in Apr'09. I hv two qns:

1) The top speed that i hv reached so far is 90+ km/h. But i did that without fully opening my throttle. But at that speed, oredi the bike is vibrating quite hardly.

Do u think it's normal? Should i try to open throttle a bit more to test its limits?

2) My phantom tends to move off very slowly. This is a problem, cos it makes me worried about getting the bike to the front line at traffic junctions. I scare by the time i move off, the cars next to me will push me a side. Anyone has this problem too?

Its better to learn how to push start your bike as you may not have a car handy all the time, and its way more convenient then removing the seat to access the battery.

1) Its normal for phantom to vibrate. Feel free to push the limits of yourself (not the bike) when its safe (less traffic, straight clean roads, etc).

2) Unless your riding technique is wrong (eg half clutch too long, no torque), bikes will generally move off faster than cars, irregardless of the bike's size. And unless you're wobbling and getting in the driver's way, it is unlikely car drivers will push you aside (I'm saying this from a driver's point of view).

can i check with you guys, is changing engine oil and topping 2t and changing spark plug sufficient in maintaining a ta150, or i still need to do what decarbonise or what air filter thingy?

Posted

For 2 strokers, 2T would be the main thingnto look out for. Others are standard such ad EO, electrical, brake pads, chain and general wear and tear.

nope new brake pads have yet to worn down in order for the disc to move freely....juz run for roughly 100km more and it should be ok already...

Go as far as you can see; when you get there, you'll be able to see farther.

yeah that is enough..if ur object is to get from point a to b and time is not important or issue at all.

the maintenance u mentioned is just the basic on a regular intervals..with time reduction in perormance sets in...then it is a question how well u want to maintain ur bike to its former glory..if u are not sure ask the mech everytime u change EO..i am sure they can advise u..a good guide is the bike's maintenace schdule.

if there is a problem after the top overhaul...the shop u patronise should be xxxxx....just like when u change eo the bike is worse than beore...

top overhaul will easily improve the peromance of the bike. if there are more problems than before ????? unlikely unless ur bike has long past the 100k km recommendation.

Just to share, learnt a skill of lubing the chain. Left hand hold handle bar, shoulder on seat, right hand hold the chrome guard for the chain and lube the chain while pushing.

Weh... One hand hold handlebar, one hand hold chain guard, then third hand lube the chain? j/k :p

Anyway, I have a hard time visualizing it... Seems to be pretty acrobatic o_O

LOL THIRD HAND. You have to smell the seat while doing it. haha. it indeed is but gets the job done in about 5 seconds and correctly. Reason for holding the chain guard is so that you can spray it correctly. Meaning, your right hand thumb on the end of the chrome guardand your index finger pressing the nozzle. hehe.

Your third hand is up to you.
