K&T is a very professional job but their target audience is generally the 2A and up bikes. They do carry Maxima and other high end EO like Motul and Silkolene but mostly fully synthetic. Those more general target audience shops like Planet or 2B specialty shops like Ah Koon will have a greater range of semi syn (which i feel works great with shorter change for TA becos no oil filter). These shops also tend to stock more spares on hand for the respective class of bikes they specialise in. All these shops give great service, but each in their own distinct way from what I can tell.

I am looking for a Phantom for transportation.

Don't really know what I should look out for nor the current market prices.

 

Appreciate if someone could tell me what's the market like?

 

I don't need a new bike, second hand one will do just fine as I'm on a budget.

hi, can anyone tell me which phantom has the shorter mirror? TA150 or TA200? i think the longer one looks like the super 4 original

got question to ask. There is no more 'log cards' since march this year. How to find out that when does the coe for the bike ends??

i experince the change in system too,not to worry...the LTA will send u a letter 2-3 wks after u bought the bike(if 2nd hand)stating the approval of transfer of ownership. there will list all the details of the bike and stuff..u can use it to buy season parking too i think..caz last time muz show log card then can buy one..(for 1st timer)

how do i change a stock filter for TA200?i bought one from planet todae at $16, and now i dunno if i shld soak it in oil b4 installin...caz my recce daes in army the mechs told us to put abit of oil into the filters then will be effective...care to share the answer guys?

Haiz.... Felt that the sound of my engine is getting rougher le... Any idea what could be the cause... Another thing is now when I set my idling lower a bit and if it died... I cannot use my electric start cause no response... Press liao is totally no sound... End up have to push start.... Any pks can advise?

Did u check if the batt is working?might be the batt cannot make it liaoz.. if so go change lor..or the wires/fuse for the electric starter blow then muz change..many possiblities...as for the idling,of course if u adjust the idling too low sure die off one mahz...they need a idle rpm of ard 1400rpm +/-100.so ani lower and will die off. just my opinions.

swirlacer: haha.. went to planet ytd to check and true enough... Batt cannot make it liaoz... As for idling, I know cannot adjust too low but now it seems higher then when I just get the bike... So still adjusting here and there lor... Will be going planet tml to check bike again cos feels that the engine sound seems quite rough... Don't have time to check it ytd and today... So onli tml le lor...

I am a newbie here and would like to know some bike shops with trust-worthy and resonable pricing.

 

I am considering a TA200 second hand and with as little down payment as possible.

 

And, please help me with the figures as this is my very first time buy and I am totally an idiot in things like..

 

1. How much insurance to pay?

2. Do I need to apply COE?

3. How much does a road tax cost?

4. How many percentage of down payment is required?

5. If the license plate is after FV, what is the current market price?

6. Lastly (pls forgive me, i realli am left out) which shops are the best to buy?

ans: depend on which insurance company u buy from, yr age, L plate/yr exp .. all diff price,

interest-this depend on how long u wan to pay for. 1yr 2yr or 3yr (per yr interest abt 4-6% depend on shop)

ans: if u r buying 2nd hand bike pls see the number of yr left.

 

3. How much does a road tax cost?

ans: For phantom per yr $70

ans: it depend on bike shop. More downpayment better.

ans: this i cant give u a good ans. u have to look around n test out the bike.

 

 

PS: if u stay at west, i bring u to bukit batok to check price.. moto tiam boss can take min$300-500 downpayment if i remember correct.

But if u buy from person to person.. MUST TEST BIKE..

Not too sure but think its yearly basics n depends on your license if its still T Plate and wat lvl of coverage you want. depends on motor log card also if any past accident....

my license over 1 yr, 2nd bike from direct owner FV plate paying ard $322 - NTUC 3rd Party

 

2. Do I need to apply COE?

ans: if u r buying 2nd hand bike pls see the number of yr left.

Mean alphabet no. FV plate - till 2012 so if u buy plates after FV should be slightly more....

 

3. How much does a road tax cost?

ans: For phantom per yr $70

Half yr $40 - Depends on your insurance validitiy and originally the bike balance road tax till when....

 

4. How many percentage of down payment is required?

If buy from direct owner you have to discuss with the owner

 

5. If the license plate is after FV, what is the current market price?

Bike Conditions apply mainly - Extras depends on accessories the bikes comes with... Rear Box, Crash Bar, Side boxes, air horn... watever....

 

Remeber to CHECK for Fork Scratches if not u have to change 100+ each side

There are some bike shops nearby but when i asked abt phantom last week, the guy told me it's ard 5000 to 6000 for 2nd hand!!!!!@_@!!! Hell i don't know a lots abt bikes but the way i see it in this forum alone is max for 2.5 k or 3 k. surely the shop (or the guy) is greedy as a pig.

So i decide to get help from these forumers as not to get cheated so eaily for anything.

i got my FY plate (2nd hand) one year ago for 4k including insurances and a year of road tax.

Up till now, the bike is stil doing very well with low fuel consumption

huh 5000-6000.. that price i brought my phantom err.. 3yr ago. total 5800+ in total, everything.. COE, insurance, interest, road tax half yr

so if u r buying FV plate, should be more then $3.5K

I'm not too sure but if you have to ask the shop for more details before we can advsie u more... Like plate no. Mill. Phantom if not wrong now got a few other different versions "Customs 5" or smthing like dat the difference is there will be fuel gauge, lights on speedometer, exhaust pipe different... not sure if will affect the rates.. so perhaps you could check out more before deciding if the shop over charge as it could be they selling u quiet up to date models hence the pricy price ^^

Phantom for 2nd hand where got so exp.. If u willingly to pay $5000 - $6000, i tink u might as well buy a new phantom.. Dun get cheated..

think 5k-6k for a phantom 2nd hand is way too much liaoz. i bought my FY plate TA200 for 4.1k total. so i dun see why 5-6k for that bike.if u have money like wat they said,buy a new one lorz.its ard 6-7k onli.ok for ur budget lei..aniwae,i saw theyasman selling his 150 on the garage sale.can check it out.not a bad deal..150 a bit more troublesome but more power.and its cheaper too!! imagine average 2nd hand onli 1-2k.too bad i buy my 200 b4 i see theyasman put up his notice.

 

by the way i dunno theyasman and i'm not advertising for him.juz saying what i feel.
