I've been reading about degrees of the v-twin engine but I still don't get it. The Kawasaki VN900 is 55 degree and the harleys are 45 degree. How does that affect the performance or anything for that matter?

Technically, so to speak the differences is revolving around on how the engine sound, vibrate and sweet exhaust notes with that little bit of imbalance leftover. :)

Only the VN900 Custom?... Classic/Classic LT don't have?

It is sad but true that our island will be getting only the VN900 Custom but cheer up! it got sport rims and the look of a night train. :)

kawasaki got nothing for class 2A....

Oh well, the dealer goes with the flow of market demand and supply. With so many common fleets on the road, it is not hard to polish out their business direction.

Hi,

Cos Honda make durable engine. And singaporean ride mostly becos to save travel cost. Thus ah pek dun wanna go mech to spend money. And RXK is the best engine with one kick one start. Dun believe go see the Ah Pek kick start. SURE START. HAHAHAH.

Im sure they dun wanna kick so long just to start the bike. Im not saying that kawa is not a good bike. It is a performance bike hands down, together with suzuki. But just that Honda is more durable and smooth for daily commuting.

And singapore i haven seen really fast bike that travel fast. Except super 4 nowadays are like menace.

Just 2 cents. Please dun blast me.

Not trying to blast you but it does sound a little bias on your thoughts about Honda engine. I believe all the manufacturer brands does equally consider of engine construction and reliability. If you take a hard look, there is dozen of different brands their vintage motorcycle still going tough on the road and for those that isn't, it doesn't mean they are not reliable, it could simply mean that the particular motorcycle is scraped for a dozen of reasons i.e. lack of parts, doesn't justify the needs to renew COE or even pay more on the roadtax for a more than ten years old motorcycle etc and it just goes on. I think, we should take a more subjectivity view and certainly I don't see the effort behind how riding a Honda would save on travel cost?

Okay. Enough of the off-topic, I shall rest my case.

Went to Evershine this morning to 'try' the VN900 custom.

Some observations based on sitting on it:

1) The bike feels comfortable for my height (167cm) Forward controls ngum ngum ho. Feels lighter than my Sporty, but looks bigger. Wide front forks ala HD Dyna models. Looks good.

2) Typical japanese detailing, styling looks pretty good and beefy. My only complaint is the handlebar controls, looks cheap and ugly coz its polished. Totally stick out like a sore thumb compared to the beautiful chrome drag bars.

3) Cast wheels front & rear. Excellent

4) Nice profiled pipes.

5) Light clutch, a breeze to use compared to my Sportster

Conclusion? Would have seriously considered getting this bike if I hadn't got my Harley... would definitely have another good look at it when time comes for me to change bikes again.

Machine price quoted was about $15k

1st party insurance (I'm 30yo) quoted to be close to $1.2k

Folks who are looking for another alternative, I received an information from Johan that Loois has stock itself with Honda Shadow Spirit 1100. :)
