There are good ones and there are shitty ones, as in any other vocation or job.

 

So my answer is, I like to have TPs around, but not those who likes to "act act" and those that give you the "ya ya papaya" and "I'm the almighty" type!

Actually not all TP are heartless. I passed my driving n riding license from FTB (force transport branch). I know this cikgu (instructor) who are fomerly from traffic task force unit. He always remind those would be TP that are taking the motorcycle lesson to be more sensitive to the motorist. Try to give them warning if they did not commit too serious offence. like speeding 10km in excess of the road limit or something like that. Unless they are riding dangerously.

He even says that TP need to built a good repo with the public and not be seen as a heartless beast on the road. But I guess the newer TP doesnt care much cause they are eager to show that they are KING OF THE ROAD.

Lastly, we as a rider must always keep this in mind that not all TP are heartless. Some can be very nice. A saying in malay translated in english " In a bunch of bananas not all are bad". So dont just because of a few bad TP, everyone of them are bad too. I have encountered a few good ones and so has Silverghost.

 

P.s just because i passed my license from FTB that doesnt mean that I am in the force too.

just that some idiots needs to be fed the correct infomation thru their noses when they just won't open their mouth. They choose to take it the harder way. It's pretty difficult for us to undertand why, but that's just the way it is.

 

i'm for peace too, but when some twits starts to blabber their @ss off, they deserve to be fed sh|t...

Joe is right in some sense.

 

Now I'm not saying all local TPs are bad-asses but some of them really need to learn some manners. Or maybe go though a basic courtesy class .

 

Comparing them with the highway patrolmen of USA or Australia, their manners are much much better and serves as a true reflection of their mission of serving the public.

 

For e.g I had several ...er..."interactions" ( not all are due to my fault! 2 mine, 4 from sitting frens' cars..haha) with the highway patrol there.

 

There was a particular incident where me and 2 frens were travelling on the interstate highway one evening, i was fallin asleep in the back due to a satisfied stomach when i awoke to some gentle bumps as the car pulled over into the side gravel and bright lights shining from the back of our car.

 

Apparently, my fren had been pulled over by the cops for speeding. The following conversation went something like this....

 

Cop: Good evening Sir, Liscence and registrations please?"

Fren: Er...ok..hang on

Cop: Sir, do you know why i had to pull you over?"

Fren: Erm...I'm not too sure....

Cop : Sir, if you had'nt notice, my radar gun was tracking you at 90mph.Thaz 30mph over the safe legal speed limit u were going (abit stern). Where u guys off to in such a hurry?

I'm sorry but i'll have to serve you a violation. Would you hang on a moment while i get the papers?"

 

as i had remembered it, every sentence was polite and addresses my fren as "Sir". Even though my buddy broke the speed limit, he wasnt been treated like a rapist or a felon on death roll, unlike some of the rude local TPs.

 

Of course my fren returned the politeness with "sorry, officer.I'll not do it again....Insert Excuses Here" and the cop wrote him off with only 20MPH over the speed limit.

Anyway.....

Courtesy to the general public should, in my opinion be part of a civil servant's responsibility too. After all, they are here to serve the public, not lord over us.

Not all are bad lah ... i encounter some arrgant TPs, good, some bad ......

 

Eg 1) I encountered 1 traffic police .. at that time was at YCK rd. I rode at 96km/hr on a 400cc bike. he stopped me and wanted to summon me Court case for exceeding 40km/hr from road limit. But to his absent thinking, that the road was 50km/hr. Whereas I told him that i used to travel this road durin my class 3 driving lesson and my SSDC instructor told me that the speed is 70km/hr.

 

His reply "ARE U SURE OR NOT ? UR SSDC INSTRUCTOR WAS INEFFICIENT!" I'm not happy with his words insulting all my superb instructors who had brought me to that road. Finally, the letter came and stated the road limit was 70km/hr

During 2002,his rank is SGT, and his name is David. be thankful I didnt know his surname, or i'll bring him down from his career. just remember this guy FL6558J whom u summoned rudely! for those who knows him, tell him. I'm eager to complain .... abt him to his superior. I got info abt him that he's from task force.

 

 

 

EG 2) An Officer stopped me on one of a singapore road, once approached me and greeted me with a Good morning. I was impressed to see a govt service projecting a good image to the organisation. I was summonned for using a small no.plate (my bike owner changed it). I accepted it willingly and even paid for the owner w/o appealing to the department. Coz i was impressed by the officer's courtesy.

 

eg 3) Last nite a TP officer pull over at Yishun dam beside where i parked, with a polite gesture and asked me and my gf to show him our licence. He even have a chat with us to comfort us while he's doing his job screening. And return us our licence with a thank you.

 

So, not all officers are bad . most of who i met but i cant remember, are good. not to mention those who let me off with chances and warning. I really appreciate that, thank you.

agree that TPs r generally fine(good) 'cos they r just trying to do their jod well, serving the public. but there nos. of occassions that i c TPs behaving, riding or driving in a manner that make the public dislike them. maybe the department need to conduct extra classes to educate the officers so that all of them will remember their mission when they r on duty.

personally witnessed it.

 

2 TPs, with me behind, outta respect and fear of them wasting my time, I rode behind them...

 

at the traffic junction, both TPs are turning right (never signal), I'm the only one signalling to turn right.

 

green light, both turns, with me behind. one gave a wide turning, almost hitting kerb on the left, the other...worst! turns right into the opp road b4 turning back into the correct side recklessly.

 

I almost felt like honking them to stop check if they are drunk or riding w/o lic.

 

I feel mad seeing them riding that way on the road. no doubt, it's 12plus am, and there's not a single car on that stretch of road, but, that's not an excuse!!!

 

One good thing is, most of them are not like that, and are generally good mannered. I wonder, if anyone is to be stopped by that 2 kukus, what will their attitude be? I tink will be tekan by them, judging from their riding style. you 2 are a shame to the force.

True as wat some of u guys have mention though I dislike TP and even hated them but they as just on payroll like anyone of us unless one is their own boss. They are just doing their job. The only problem with this miniority TP is tat they have no bloody manners. I was stop by ROV n TP before for their routine check and they are very poilte with me but some not to even mention........their nose is pointing towards the sky. This is those few we should really remember and lodge a offical complaints to them....to let them remember tat we the humble citizens of Sgp is paying their salary.
