Topic : Wave 125S cold start problem

Description : Nil

********************************************************************

Hi Fellow wave riders,

My younger brother has a wave 125s that is very difficult to start when cold. Need to pull choke for 15minutes before the engine can move off with proper throttle response. At first he thought the engine is new.... but now after riding for almost 2 years, the cold start is still as difficult. :giddy: :help:

Does anyone face this problem before? Appreciate your view on how to solve this.

my bike cant idle when i cold start, have to pull choke, start and pull hold throttle for a while to before the idle stable.. after 2minutes of idle the engine should be ok to run.. maybe the plug got problem? or carb setting not correct? have it check by mechanic..

guys...my wave have this problem that the engine will die all of a sudden and when it dies even the lights on my speedo dies off too and i have to switch the engine off and on again,at first i thought it was the battery...but i notice that it dies only when i turn my handle bar to a certain angle on the left...why ahhhhh...

hmm..i guess ur throttle cable or ur choke cable is being crossover by other cables or other wirings..have it checked soon.strip off e bike..n turn to e left as usual..see if any of e cables are being pulled or crossovered..

previously my bike was like urs..but i had it rectified fast..soon i found out tt e choke cable was pulling my leg!!i had it changed n i ensure tt it has ample space even i turn my handlebars..no probs so far!

hope it helps..:cheer:

Yeah.... My brother's bike also has the same problem. His bike is worse cause need to warm up much longer.

The carbs has been cleaned and spark plugs changed but the problem still persists. I wonder if this can ever be solved. Does anyone has any recommendation on Wave expect mechanic in S'pore?

is it true tat warm up need to be done only the first time start bike in the morning? while subsequent start can no need warm up? say abt 1-2hr resting..

advise?

Urgent thks...

Hi Guys,

Here's an update. It was discovered that the rubber O-ring that is between the Carb and the intake manifold is defective. Causing Air leak. Hence that problem with cold start in the morning and also popping sound when de-celerating.

After this fix, no need to warm up that long anymore.

Thanks for all your responses. :thumb:

what a coincidence ... not the problem start thingy , but my sis rides a sonic too . Btw AFAIK honda sonic has both electric and kick starters . Maybe the problem lies in the rectifier ... Nvr try push start meh ?

Posted

Try a push start first like racing bikes or if u got multi meter check your batery voltage. Juz my suggestion though.

On the Ignition Switch. Hold the clutch lever. Engage FIRST gear. One needs to push the bike all the way after gaining some speed then release the clutch lever. Then push all the way see can start or not. Of course don forget to on the ignition switch.

when u press the electric starter does the neutral light flicker???if so its the battery....since u said u changer the battery 2 weeks ago, issit the correct one???meaning the amphere and voltages...check the connection of the battery...check the fuse also ...sonic has spare fuse just below the battery opener...got two...

Posted

push-starts would be better if somebody assists you by pushing the bike . In this case no prob , cos only sonic .

1. switch on ignition .

2. engage the 2nd gear .

3. while holding the clutch lever , push the bike .

4. when you feel like the bike has gained enuf speed , release the clutch lever to the biting point while turning the throttle . (remember not to apply too much throttle)

5. repeat if neccesary

Posted

heheh.. yeah man,.. got the push start thingy.. thanks.. btw.. after getting enuf speed. i press the starter n throttle at the same time.. will it spoil the thing? and one mor thing.. when i reach the bike shop.. the uncle say must change the battery.. say change the $45 Shinko batttery.. dunnoe whether to change it or not leh.. coz i heard at malaysia much cheaper. man.. anybody noes anywahere to get those reliable not so expensive battery?? thanks..
