Honda MSX 125 / Grom Opinions Wanted

Good Morning Gents,

 

I'm thinking of purchasing a Honda MSX 125 / Grom for commuting to work and back.

 

How does it cope with our local traffic and roads? Is it cheap to run and maintain?

40-50+KM/Litre for fuel.. Stock tire sucks, please change for safety purpose.. Easy to maintain and if you're keen to customize, there are stuffs to explore..

Its relatively affordable to maintain. ~SGD$10 for full tank, and you get about 250km (stock) mileage out of it.

Servicing is like.. $20/5000km ?

Travelling on highway is possible, just gotta keep to the left and middle lane. its able to cruise at 90km/hr.. 100km/hr if you really need to overtake

Im considering the MSX also but not sure where to buy the bike..

check with Boon siew and they only have new bikes..

MSX is a nice bike. Alot of accesories. Rode it once, didn't like in on the highway. Feel so vulnerable haha.

The new Honda Grom looks good, offers decent mileage, and has low maintenance cost. I own the red colour variant and I use to for in-city commutes. Overall its a decent bike that sweeps through traffic easily.

Yeah new 2021 model has a 5th gear too. Maybe this means it'll be slightly better on the highway?

@IRL_Dippy Oh yesss that's one big difference. Still a harrowing experience taking the Grom/MSX125 on the highway though. You'd need some b*lls of steel!

The top speed is slightly better that the older model. The new model goes 90+ km/h (source), but I won't take it on highways.

I saw a Grom on the highway the other day, looked hilariously small but at least she was travelling on the left-most lane.

The 2021 Grom with 1 extra gear should be able to hit 100km/h? (not that you should try..)

We have a review coming soon once we get our hands on one, could be a fun weekend bike, but remember to ride it with a PSB-approved helmet..
