dual front discs? can be done but you have to remove your meter gauge. so that means... u won't know your mileage and you won't know your speed. PLUS. your bike is gonna be heavy for sure. trust me. i've seen dual REAR discs before. i'm not kidding. on a jb spark135 with spoke rims... totally wicked dude.

Thrash? Don't mind if i do.

since this is the modification thread.. i need help!!!!!!!!!! hahhaa, i've recently converted my drum brake to the disc brake system (looks cool).. the thing is, yes the rear brake with the racing footrest works but the braking effect isnt too strong.. i did (many2 times) told the mech in JB where i did my bike to make it stronger but he said thats the maximum.. he even changed the brake pad to a better one to improve it for free.. so now i need help on which bike shop in singapore i can go to to do a proper bleeding..

Posted

back brakes need not be that strong. usually any shops in sg can do bleeding and change your brake fluid. if you really want strong brakes get a 4/6 pots brake caliper.

Slow is smooth, smooth is fast

so its the Nissin, OEM or Racing Boy.. thanks alot dude.. oh and by the way its not for drifting.. its for safety as i met with an accident (on the 21st last month) before you and mine is much worse.. now i got a metal plate in my left wrist and my toe joint protruded below the toe.. so yea, i need the safety of both brakes

here's a pic of my bike before it was repaired..

What the.. the pic of your spark brought back my scary memories of my SP in an head on collision a year ago. Luckily i escaped the crash with just minor abrastions. The pic you posted really is as bad my SP a year ago.. Nearly written off by the insurance.

I also converted my rear drum to disc, to make the brakes stronger, i suggest you use hel brake hose. Gives a better braking feel. =)

OMG. you recovered readie bro? its a little bit too late, but hope you're okay.

8 out of 10 riders who meet with an accident usually end up having metal plates in their body.

this fri got x-ray for my hipbone. waliao, metal + hip. goosebumps nia. hope nothing wrong sia. lol.

:btw: its either NISSIN or RACING BOY. OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. NISSIN happens to be the oem brake system for X1R's rear. :thumb:

roughly how much was your estimated cost of repairs? my crumpled beer can currently looks like your bike before it was repaired. my siggy old pic nia.

i've recovered, but not 100%.. the metal plate in my wrist seems to be limiting me from bending my wrist fully but considered lucky to get to hold my handlebar.. if not cant ride liao hahaha.. i think yrs should be ok cause the day after my accident, my fren also accident and guess what? his hip bone dislocated from its socket PLUS his left leg alignment aint straight.. but no hardcore surgery, just drilled a hole through his knees from the side, hooked it with some weights for 2 weeks and got discharged.. seriously i hope you'll recover well bro..

back to the topic haha.. so where can i find either the NISSIN or Racing Boy calliper?

yes. x1r rear disc brake setup can be used on spark 135. u just need to weld a few points for the caliper bracket. anyways heres my advice. change to the rear disc, use a better brake hose like HEL, Goodridge, Venhill, don't trust the anybrand steelbraided brake hoses. its your life we're talking about, you want quality, you pay for quality.

sorry to hear abt your accident sparkan. guess you're 1 step too late uh. i sold my 6 piston and 4 piston nissin calipers last week! go and find nissin calipers. don't use racingboy. trust me on this. dont mind me askin, how did you get into an accident like that? how fast were u going? looks like total front chasis bent sialllll. u must've been going really fast...

Thrash? Don't mind if i do.

Damn man its sold?, apa nak buat, dah nasib.. haha.. basically here's how it went.. on the morning of the 21st last month, i went out of my car park, turned left then towards a straight road with a T junktion ahead.. as i was about to reach the T junktion (im on the straight road), a car, a merscedes was makin a turn.. he did not stop at the stop line and was moving slowly BUT i believe he was checkin his left, not right side where i was coming from..

so when he saw me he hesitated to stop and i was riding at 70kmh and in the end he decided to stop in the middle of the road blocking both my lanes.. due to him stopping and moving, i wasnt sure whether to stop or move, so in the end his last position was right in front of me.. and i collided with his front right side and flew roughly 8 meters away.. upon impact my wrist bone (distal radius bone) came out from its socket and my toe joint (phallenge) dislocated and protruded out below.. and after that was hell.. so i beg you guys please slow down when it comes to T junktions.. although we might be careful, other fukkers are not.. so yea bro itulah cerita aku.. :D

kecoh ah genggg. u noe what they say. if ur confident GO. if u teragak2. slow down or stop. cos ur bound for an accident. thats what the old folks say. i always apply that when it comes to squeezing in btw traffic. life is spared. bike can be repaired.

Thrash? Don't mind if i do.

Hmm, the rear brakes seems to be more responsive and the brakes feel more stiffer. I dont really know how to put it in words but its recommended to go for steel braided hoses.

I second with what thrasher mentioned, dont use cheapo steel brake hoses like the what knots "GPR'" brake hoses and other fake products. Investing more in safety features will help save your life. =)

hey need help here.. should i buy a second hand spark if i gonna mod alot on it? pls gimme some advise

It really depends a few factors like your budget, extent of modifications and most importantly how long are you going to stick to the bike.

If your extent of modifications is great like going for engine upgrade, disc brake upgrade and all the major ones, getting a 2nd hand bike wouldnt be a problem as you are going to replace almost or most of the major parts of the bike.

However, if your modifications are more on to the cosmetic factor then i suggest you get a 2nd hand one if your budget doesn't allow you to go for a brand new spark.

To end off, if you are not going to stick long to your spark, don't bother getting 1st hand and burn money on depreciation. =)
