i've been reading this book by nick ienatsch called sport riding techniques and one thing i tried to apply was the riding posture.

however i find that after trying a apply that posture where my back was curved and arms relaxed(very difficult), my elbows and shoulders are starting to ache. my left hand also seems to lock itself unknowingly.

anybody knows of any drills where i can practice my riding posture at home? any exercises i can workout to train those muscles?

thanks in advance

I believe "that" posture would be easier to adopt when you are riding something else other than a SP150. I'm not being a jackass here but the SP150 has high position clip-on stock. Coupled with some JB rearsets, the posture on the bike is pretty "default". You should have not much problems on something like RS250, CBR600RR, R6, Suzuki K something, etc.

I did read somewhere that in some cases, ya gotta rely on your strength of your pelvic area to support ya bike, so probably building up ya pelvic and abdominal muscles could offer ya a start in taking the load off ya upper limbs.

There should be more, but that's the only useful thing I can remember from the back of my head

Well, I did really feel unusually "upright" on my former SP, as compared to an Aprilia (or even extremely acute like the Mito)

Wonder why they'd call it a sportbike though...

i guess we malays r more flexible... sorry no offense... but sumtime seeing the ahbengs riding posture on the road made me thinking, how the hell they cn cup corner wif dat kind of posture..... its juz insane..... stiff like a rock.....!

try to be more relax on ur bike.. sit near to the tank n hunch abit, dat way ur hands r more likely to bend n not straighten like a bean pole... juz my two cents..... wink wink hiak hiak.... :)

thats quite racist of a comment u make.. kind of saying chinese are ah bengs? chinese are more stiff? or what so ever.. there are mats too riding with ridiculous posture... i guess you should put it in words saying gangsters wannabe rather than saying malays are more flexible and stuffs.. no offence though... cheers..

I think Pillion riding is more of a combined efford between rider and pillion. Te chnique also varys depending on type of bike, and the relative size of rider and pillion.

The best pillions are lightweight and smallsized. They don't upset the balance of the bike too much, and can happily hide behind the rider comfortably so wouldn't get blasted by the wind too much.

On the other hand, nothing could be worse than pillioning a well fed fully grown man on the back of a sportbike.... :S

well somewhat agree on ur statement. it's not tat bad afterall pillioning a well fed grown man on the back of a sportbike. In the states, they have a ex racer pillioning well fed grown man in a track to let them have a feel what racing in a track is abt. :cheeky:

Ya man.. What 'using legs to steer...' bollocks... Simply gas it to steer it into the direction like what snakeman bro does.. And 'head on the tank' whilst at the straight, and 'head below the clip-ons' at the corners. Just like how our bro does it! :thumb: :thumb:

ok cool thanks all for your comments. anyways kingpet, i'm a chinese and i am fully aware of many bikers who have really bad riding posture, that is why i am trying to change that, by reading up and also asking for comments. i believe that even if one does not have much talent, it can be compensated by sheer hard work. race does not matter when you ride a bike

If only I could get my head to go below the handlebars in the corners on the DRZ.....

Not anyone can ride like the Snakeman...it takes alot of practice and commitment. :thumb:
