no laws that i've heard of with regards to IU must be mounted on bike.

but its your fault what.. u didnt mount on the bike causing your IU unit to be not detected by the system..be glad that they didnt summon u $70 for no IU. Reason being simple why need to mount on the bike so that it can be detected. for you ppl who take it out making it a portable IU if at the end of the day it cant be detected.. then i think you should be fined $70. dont whine here when you yourself created the problem with your own hands.

I got no IU on my bike, and will never mount that ugly piece of crap on my baby.

But then again i'll never ride her thru an active gantry.

Mine got a even better experience with them. I dun use bracket to mount my unit on my bike. I use 3M Heavy duty double side tape to stick on the faring. So one day my unit requires for a check in LTA. And guess wat. He told me no bracket cannot change new IU. I was like WTF.

You are blur, when I say I am blurr.

They dun even know how that dumb IU work..

mine cant detect cos i hid it.. so inspection time.. Put the bracket and mounted it outside again..

Guess what they say? The angle of tilt is wrong thats why cannot detect.. WTF

they have zero knowledge of how it works. advise me to buy a nicely 45 degree bracket so that it wun fail again.. :D

Just curious.

Does anyone knows where are the sensors that detect your IU?

Is it at the top of the big goal post or the strips just below the goalpost?

actually, i believe the angle of how the iu faces the gantry can affect it's efficiency.

as long as you dont tamper with the iu itself, there's nothing against the law. even though mine not portable type, but i've taken it out and plug it back in when needed at times also.

i agree that those people at vicom knows nuts about how the IU works... once my previous IU's backlight had a problem... its forever on even when i turn off the bike engine

went down to vicom and they said its because the IU is lying flat and not in a 45 deg angle so the light is on... if i get a bracket to make it 45 deg the light will go off by itself o_O :faint:
