AYE->ECP->TPE->SLE->BKE->KJE->PIE->AYE.

or

Mandai Rd->Kranji Rd->Old Lim Chu Kang Rd->Choa Chu Kang Way.

In Singapore, these 2 are the best i could think of.

Try Gelang Patah.

Oh, there is quite a bit of write-up about the bird in the past few pages no?

Guess you right. So nice we had some thunder after the curtain closed on the write-up. On a serious note, thunderbird is hell of a nice name for a bike. Think of the other bikes like V-strom, Hayabusa etc..

On another note, I personally went down to look at the Thunderbird that the Ang Moh has for sale. If anyone's interested, he's bike is still open for sale and he is getting more motivated as road tax, insurance and inspection is due in 1-2 weeks. Hope I'm not too late in mentioning this. Just some heads up for those still drolling...

Me, I put in a lot of saddle time and 10km/l city riding is hard to swallow. I ride a suzuki gn250 now at 35km/l, so its quite a gap. Future petrol cost is a concern for me. COE price all time low, so guess, I may not be the only one. Nice bike, but my destiny is to ogle.

Problem is there are not enough TBs in Singapore to contribute.

Anyway for others who are truly considering this bike

Pros:-

Unique Classic look and brand name

Sufficient HP

Easy regular maintenance

Nice triple cylinder engine and exhaust note

Upright riding position and comfy for pillion

Cons:-

900cc fuel consumption

small fuel tank

A little bit on the heavy side

Tube tyres

Specific parts have to be ordered

=================================================

I do really want to give it a new coat of paint so anyone who has had good experiences with paintshops that do non fairing bikes, plse advice.

thanks

GN250....I miss that bike. Dirt cheap to maintain and a very robust engine. Used to own one.

10km/l is really pure city riding and a very rough estimate.

I would tend to estimate it at 12 km /l now after the final carb tuning and probably up to 15km/litre if you do a fair bit of highways .

nevertheless it is a 900cc and it's quite heavy still

Its a classic in its own right. Timeless design, unde-rated, wrongly relegated to "Ah Pek" bike status. Very resolute ponies right up to 100km/h after which a sharp decline. As a town bike, I can't think of anything more sensible. For the money, its too much bike and sense.:thumb:

The new Bajaj bike is tested at 40km/l.

Amazing?

I'm not sure the gn250 will hold any trophies but its younger brother the gn125 got a name for itself in the guiness book of record ... http://www.suzukicycles.org/high_milage_suzuki.shtml

The Bajaj may offer something else in the equation besides just fuel consumption. It may boil down to the feel/power delivery of the bike in the end. as well

Yes, I was simply doodling and everyone who sees it knows that but there is absolutely no need to show your "smartness" by posting the plate number like that.

Do get your forum ethics in check.

Unappreciated

if you are gonna take the effort to edit the plate number..... please take the effort to do the same with all your pictures, no? i did not go probing around, looking for your plate number. you gave it out.

why portray a FP plate bike as a EB plate? misleading? ethical?"

so don't turn around and give excuses like ethics.

if you really want me to say it loud out.... ask n you shall receive.

i have nothing against you or your "baby". it's a nice bike.

thanks for for the backup, william bro. and to some others......

To all involved in the flames,

There is a warning about threads being trashed if they are confrontations and flaming. This is NOT done here in SFB•Cruisers. If must, go elsewhere. Its a pity to trash this post as it has some info on the bike. So I'll let it stay. But anymore flaming in this thread, we will not hesitate to trash it.

Your cooperation is much appreciated. Thank you.

Since Thunderbird is so small market, let me throw in a srew driver. Evershine has a kawasaki W650 sitting on its dealership floor waiting for a buyer. Its a used one, priced at $8,500, firm I believe. If you are looking for something simple, air cooled, better mileage, lighter, less complexity, really retro looking, this one might be for you. But, unlike the thunderbird, its still in production, so there is no chance it will be relegated to pure classic status any time soon.

Is it this? If it is then I think the TBird looks much better....

Btw, do you guys really feel the Tbird looks 'retro'? To me it's still quite trendy, with a muscle bike feel. Although the pointy exhaust gave it away, anyway to change that?

hehe....in Singapore retro is RD, C70 and Vespa... British styling is still unfamiliar and might be quite 'new' to the rest of us.

Snow, thats the W650 with a cafer racer seat from corbin.

The original seat looks much better in my opinion

Actually the W650 looks much more like the Bonneville.

It is true that the TB is more muscle looking especially with a short handlebar.

By the way, those unique exhausts are known as Peashooters and I really like the looks.

There are aftermarket pipes for the TB to change the look if you dont like peashooters. But it's the peashooter look that is unique for Triumph, as with the shape of the gas tank and the triple cylinder engine.

Other brands of the similar (british) styling includes Norton, BSA and even Harley.

The japs are great imitators and Kawasaki has decided to not only enter the "harley" look segment but also the "british Bike" look segment with the estrella and the W650 :thumb:

That W650 needs some clipons! Even has a kick starter!

I think the Kawasaki is more in line with the Norton or Royal Enfield bikes, not the bigger Triumph triples.

Another great classic looking triumph is the Bonneville which is still in production and now also features limited edition Paul Smith paint jobs.

the paul smith edition is pretty good looking, but it will be pain in arse to up keep the crocodile skin seat... :giddy: and you can't repaint the bike... once repaint, all gone....

btw, there's a W650 at bedok reservoir area, if you see it in person, i must say it is a pretty bike... good looking with comfort seat and handle bar... meter shown 200km/h, should be enought for singapore use...

The TRiumph Bonneville Paul Smith Edition comes in many versions of paintjobs with different types of seats.

Hhhmmm....maybe I can respray my thunderbird into a Throttle Limited edition?

hohoho

Plans to bring in the Bonneville and Thruxton is in the pipeline for the very near future...

Maybe you would be tempted to trade in your TB then? Hehe...
