Hey.. I'm trying to get a bike. I've been reading "Idiots on Motorbikes".. but i still dunno wat to do.. u should like write something on how to buy a bike without looking like an idiot..

Example, they always say come and view the bike. See with the eyes already den do wat sia??!!

Wat are the "clever" questions i nid to ask? Is it wise to know wat kind of petrol they put in the bike? or wat kind of maintanence stuff they do to the bike???

Regards,

Idiotic Motorcyclist

Speed - RS 125 wins in the speed department hands down. If you cant afford it, then it would be a tie between the 150 SP or the TZM 150. There will be a large argument on which of the two is better, so i will leave it up to you.

beg to differ.. RS 125 wins HANDS DOWN??.. o_O

a TZM modded wif RS on tt arrow pipe... TZM wins hands down..

whats the difference b/w sport bikes and street bikes? o_O

i searched images in google.. they look pretty much the same..:giddy:

I shall take you to bed and have my way with you.

I will make you ache, shake and sweat until you moan and groan.

I will make you beg for mercy, beg for me to stop.

I will exhaust you to the point that you will be relieved when I'm finished with you.

And, when I am finished, you will be weak for days.

in a nutshell...

a street bike is often a multipurpose bike that is comfortable on the street level. logical?

a sport bike is bike that you will be comfortable ripping down the track. since racing can be considered a motor sport. logical?

streetbikes are built for comfy rides. wider and thicker seats with raised handlebars = upright riding position. rider is sitting up straight (as if on a chair) and arms are relaxed with elbows bent. the engine is tuned/ built for more low end power for traveling around on streets and urban roads. cooling systems (radiators, etc.) are generally smaller since the engine is not covered by fairings. suspension and brakes range from budget damping rod forks and cheap as5 brakes to hand-me-downs from phased out sportbikes. personally, the hand-me-downs are still better than budget crap.

sportbikes are built for performance. thin seats and low handlebars force the rider to hunch forward with his arms and elbows straightened. the rider's posture is low and blends with the aerodynamics of the bike's cowling/ fairing which serves to reduce wind resistance. the engine is tuned/ built for more power in the higher revs where it excels in top speed around a track/ race circuit. suspension and brakes are generally of better build and quality on a sportbike to cope with all the hard riding that it was built for. fuel injection system is top notch and advanced, the best that manufacturers can offer year after year.

where got difficult.. thai 150cc easier wat. cheaper more reliable sum more.

anyway 2 stroke bikes are not hard to mantain at all.

wear n tear is faster for high revving 2stroke engines, but much easier and cheaper to work on.

erm. not really.

2 stroke bikes has less emphasis on the gear oil (4t!), instead relying more on the 2stroke engine oil to lubricate the pistons. and the oil would be burnt along with the petrol during ignition, which makes the infamous 2stroke smoke.

4 stroke bikes has a large emphasis on the engine oil as it both lubricates the pistons as well as the gearbox. for most bikes, it also lubricates the clutch plates.

considering how much 2t you use, it could end up having a krr spending more on maintenance.

2stroke bikes are built cheaper using older, simpler technology.

4stroke bikes are built a little more expensive, using more modern, and cleaner technology.

give a hoot: don't pollute.

1) down payment more = pay lesser interest. how much to down pay depend on you and the bike shop. varies from shop to shop.

2) got bike liao, can travel easily, then i dont think going slightly further away from your house will be a problem?

3) 2-3 days... sufficient to get your bike. unless you purchase on friday, they dont work on weekend, then monday go settle your application and all the paper works... you need to wait more than 2-3 days.

4) ask whatever you have in mind. things like is the price you going to pay for inclusive of transfer fee, insurance, 6 month road tax (in simpler term, on the road price without any hidden cost). how many free servicing? length of warranty. if settle the reminding debt earlier got any penalty. ask them to explain the 5% interest to you more clearly. is it cost x 5% or what you owe them x 5% (so after every month, because the amount get lesser, the value of 5% also get smaller). i am not very sure about loan and interests.

5) gifts are free. so kinda redundant to add "free" in front again. okay, joke aside, but a typical box + rack will add another $100++ to the cost. you think they will be so nice to give you FOC w/o you asking for it? Even if you did ask for it, i am quite sure they will charge you for it too. usually can ask for stuffs like helmet, raincoat, p plate, bike cover. depending on your bargaining skills.

6) i think if you press "Enter" a few more times. you should get more replies. it's tedious to read a whole chunk of text.

Hope it helps.

Hai, i was wondering how much a new biker like me should be prepared to spend for my first bike. I'm actually looking for a second hand bike and i have no idea what a decent price range should be. would say, 4k (including insurance) be enough?
