true gilles quality is better, but if u r using it for track n if u crash, its cheaper to replace. doesnt mean if quality better n u crash it wont break. think bout the cost involved

Gilles replacement part are not that expensive. And if it a better quality, it able to withstand the impact.

But like wat you say, lightec is so much chepaer. So it still a good buy.

From british MCN:

2006 R6 Recall

By: Rob Hull

Yamaha has issued a recall for all 2006 YZF-R6R’s due to a problem caused by the air filter fitments.

According to the Yamaha recall document, “the air filter retaining screws may work loose and in rare cases, fall out, potentially getting caught in the throttle valve and preventing it from closing properly.”

MCN spoke to Nick Girling, Yamaha’s Customer Services Manager, who told us the problem has been resolved on remaining R6’s in the Yamaha factory and every owner and dealer who has models should have the problem sorted at their earliest convenience.

If you are a 2006 YZF-R6R owner you can call Yamaha’s dedicated line for the recall on 01932-358065.

Dear Yammy R6 Riders,

I have an announcement to make..

I will be bringing in specially extended 4" sliders direct from the United States supplier. All model of R6 sliders from 1999 to 2002 model available. The sliders will be 1" longer than standard length(3"). Longer sliders will protect the bike more in case of a low side crash. Made of high quality Delrin and not nylon or plastic. Sliders come in 2 colours, black and white.

Price : S$55 without installation / S$60 for no cut sliders (price based on 10 pcs) S$50 without installation / S$45 for no cut sliders (price based on 20 pcs)

Scheme : Commercial Mass Order (min 10 pcs to ship/ 20 pcs is best[discount])

When & Where to Place Order : Another announcement will be made if the CMO thread is approve by SGPBIKES administrators. Once approved, pls proceed to the CMO forum and look for the "Extended 4" Slider Sale" thread and place order. Further instructions can be found there.

What are the advantages of these sliders?

These sliders are specially made to extend to 4" long measuring from the frame. I've used sliders that are commonly found in the streets of Singapore and whenever I crashed, I found out that the sliders I used is ineffective. What's the use of drilling 2 holes(for some cases) in the fairings to install this so called popular sliders only to find out that it didn't help when u crashed, still u got rashed fairings, cracked fairings here and there, rashed or cracked stator cover and or clutch cover. The answers to these problems are we need a slider which is slightly longer so that the bike during a fall will tilt at a slightly higher angle thus reducing the amount of contact area on the tarmac. The slider must not break upon impact thus Delrin is used which is a better material compared to nylon or plastic. Leading brand in the market selling for S$80 of the same extended version but made of nylon and S$140 for the no cut sliders.

Guys if you're interested, pls PM me so that I can have an idea on the market. If I can have 20 orders in a list in a short time..the price will be discounted.

wat i did was put those rubberlike foam in btw the tank n the tankhood. not saying it may not dent the tank in a extremely hard crash. but dun think it will hurt if its just a lowside.

reserve tank can run how many km ?

bro...

from the manual, 17L tank capacity. 13.5L of usage before hitting reserve tank of 3.5L.

nobody can tell u how much it can travel cos everyone's FC is different. you find out your own FC and then do the simple maths to find out~ =)

i'm doing 20.5km per litre.

previous owner of my bike doing only 17km/L

my friend is doing 21-22km per litre.

so really, find out your own FC and calculate urself~ =)

cheers~

oh, do drop me a PM if u live in the west~

Comparing with the two, which is recommended?

i would go for fibrecloth as its more flexible, fibreglass is more britter. fibreglass is more like a show thing. even if u drop ur bike at a standstill, thers a 90% chance the fairing will crack. its like amba's one frm sebimoto. frm the inside of the fairing u can see the the weaving of the cloth. compare it to those china made ones, thicker but cant flex. drop it n tts it. know wat i mean? u will spend almost S$1k for sebimoto, for RM1600 u get the tankhood too. but definately i dun think its better than sebimoto or the best Vipon. but considering it using for track. its too cheap to miss.

BHp being measured at the crank means the engine being capable of releasing power.

Bhp being measured at the rear wheel where power being delievered thru dyno runs.
