Was your previous bike the FZ6? The handle bars have less sweep as compared to the bars of the 06R6. You might not have gotten used to it on the first day. Likewise, after riding a motorcycle for almost 6 years, my hands also felt like its going outwards when I hit back my old school 1 Brake Human Power mtb suddenly.

 

Try to put less weight on your wrist initially on the R6, that should ease the pain a little to get used to it.

quickshifter is definitely easier. but in supersport, the aim is to keep racing cost to a minimal.

Will be getting my R6 07 soon..

However in the meantime I can only buy a Sebimoto race fairings and a damper or a Leo Vince factory full system..

So guys what do you think I should go for first?

The 06~07 R6 is much agile then before, hence at high speeds, it feels a little more "nervous" and prone to wobbles/tank slap. Many here (including me) have close encounters on tank slaps. If you freq NS highway, a better bet would be be a steering damper so you can continue riding with ease.

 

But apart from those 2 items, personal protection apparels (gloves/helmet/jacket etc) should always come first (if you do not already have 1). Next comes motorcycle protection (headlight protector/tank pad/damper/race fairings etcetc)

For safety gears I have the full set already but it does not match my R6 but who cares right..

Is there any disadvantages on the track w/o the damper..

Coz my previous 636 was fitted with one..

With or without depends on bike, rider & riding styles. I personally had wobbles with the 06R6 on the track w/o a damper. Not much of a big issue as these wobbles "build up" pretty slow in magnitude, enough time to adjust your throttle. Not a very big disadvantage of not having one, coz it just give the "OMG!" feeling when the wobbles come on turn exits. Slow_SP loves it alot though.

 

NS highway roads' ripples & bumps are very much un-predictable. Coupled with a much higher travelling speed (probably at least 220kmh?), the wobbles/slaps are very much instantaneous as compared to those encounter on track exits.

 

Having a damper sure beats not having 1 at all. Take the R6 to mersing/cameron or other high speed b-road rides, you will wish you have a damper for fun riding!

 

The only disadvantage you might encounter is difficult steering at low riding speeds if the damper is tuned very much harder (if req) for the high riding speed stability. A high/low circuitry damper would do the trick if you intend to get one.

it is the YEC AKRA full system....not anyone can get ler....onli racers with fat wallet can get it..... JK u imagine ursefl how much it cost...almost all my mob on my ah 6 add up also dun cost more then it....

Hope I get tour drift correctly Chubb. The red looking coolant is Cool-aide by Maxima. I have seen it at many bikes shop. It might help if you drop by the advertisers board under MAXIMA RACING OILS, where a list of dealers availability is indicated. you should able to find a nearest dealer near you maybe.

 

I have personally tried that coolant on VFR (V4 engine with 2 radiators) and an 06R6. i had pretty good results from it. On average, the equilibrium running temperature is cooler by almost 2degress. note that you will not see the results on a start stop traffic in any coolant as rate of heat exchange is not at "stable state". i find the cooling effect most apparent when moving off to a steady speed, it cools much faster.

get a damper 1st i think that is more important. Ohlins or scotts will be a gd choice.

JUST TO SHARE, PLS NO FLAME!!!

 

i noticed this with alot of R6 06/07 riders especially, but this myth has been going on for a long time.

 

Alot of us, the moment we encounter head shake or tank slapper, the first thing we do is install a damper.

 

IS THE DAMPER THE SOLUTION?

 

does this mean that factory produced R1, K7 1000, CBR 1000, ZX10 with Ohlins damper will all encounter headshake if the damper was removed?

 

ARE YOU GUYS AWARE THAT IF YOUR SUSPENSIONS ARE NOT DIALLED IN PROPERLY, YOU CAN ENCOUNTER ALL SORTS OF PROBLEMS, especially with a light bike?

 

search the net to find out how to do basic preload adjustments.

 

and before you do any, use that method to measure your stock settings. and see how far off you go. remember, readings go in mm
