Reorganise "On The Track" Forum

Hi all members,

 

To cater for the various interest, discussion and to make this forum more lively, we would like to seek the opinion of members what you want.

 

There were initial discussion between the admin and moderators to sub catergorise into the folowing section;-

 

 

• Races which includes local or International.
  
• On the track talk which includes riding styles, fundamentals, safety.... etc
  
• Tech Talk, which would include subjects like tyres, suspension, brakes, carburation, engine mods. exhausts systems etc
  
• General talk, ie motorcycling world news... etc.

 

Before we make any concrete changes, would like to seek members who's always in this forum to come to a concensus and finalised what should this forum have, proposed a suitable label for each sub forum before the section appear and threads starts to move into their respective section.

This is not possible across all the forum less the "Buy & Sell related" section. What can be done is to have a redirection link to either MO section or to create & cater a section in the new classified for this.

 

Members should acknowledge that there are high operating cost and these are NOT pass on to the members. There are members conducting commercial sale and they should be aware that there are option to seek a collaboration with us to benefit all members.

 

We also have Garage Sale section to cater for member to rid of their personal & used item and more often than not this is being abuse by some to conduct commercial sale. How many time have members come across 1 item for sale and it is never ending?

 

We would appreciate that this thread be used to discuss and implement changes with the general concensus. Thanks for all the feedback and keep it coming.

true....but even if no MO section, would like to get the permission to use a normal thread to do so. i used to MO knee slider in the pass, for a very cheap price, without earning a single cent(integrity). but only the forum regulars ordered. when i went to the track, more than half the people didnt know abou the MO, as they only read track and sportsbike secion. anyway, its just a suggestion. its to benefit track riders and privateer races. do take note, this sport is very expensive...and as individuals, this is how we help each other.

Well, this website is a constructed as a message board (aka Forum) and one of its major caveat of a message board is that even though at the back end where it caters to moderators and users that post threads (talk/sales) themselves, and its ability to allow for a neat organization/grouping of topics within and some nested further within, it may mean that target visitors can sometimes miss deals or the latest 'hot' talk/gossip threads.

 

Well, it's up to the head honcho of SBF, given the tools that he has and how he decides to organize SBF.

 

CMS/message boards can sometimes be hard to implement, let alone maintaining for the 50,000+ users here. These are my observations

this is quite true as alot of pple who go track often wil tend to look thru Track n sportbike session.

 

it' b good if the Garage sale can link to the track session. in dis case, i would b easy for all of us.

 

another thing, as many of us or many others who go to PG n shoot a few of photo during track or jz for practice, mayb we can have a place to post all the related pics. jz a section for all the track pics.

 

as i have went to few other bike forum, they have a section jz for a cat, like track photo.

 

it'd b easy for all of us or even oversea rider to sarch our photo easily.

I generally agree with the consensus thus far. Personally, when I don't have much time, I just log on to On the Track and then go off. So it can be beneficial if everything can be at-a-glance. Here are my few cents:

 

Categorizing

1) Races (all inclusive)

2) Riding techniques (rider related)

3) Gear (bike and apparel related)

4) General (ride boards, timing boards, general questions)

 

Shopping

A) New sub-section to Garage Sales for track / "race use only" gear.

OR

B) New guideline to include some keywords (such as "race gear") in the title to enable easier searches

 

Sales

1) Dedicated email to handle all sales and advertising (e.g. sales_at_singaporebikes.com)

2) Clear list of advertising rates to reduce volume of queries (if possible)

A agree with you, Andrew.

 

And I have another suggestion - there are far too many "stickies" clouding up the page. Hope we can remove them to a "Reference" page instead, or simply remove the "stickie" form those posts.
