anybody went for a dyno run for the difference between eating ice cream with stock spoon/metal spoon and after market assessories

Stock Spoon (from shop) - > 1/4 mouthful

Metal Spoon (from my kitchen) -> 1 mouthful

Metal Scoop (from shop) -> 1.75 mouthful

1 mouthful equals to the size of 1 hard boiled egg

wow Pauche....

Where are you going to import that 1864 mouthful scoop?

A scoop that magnitude will cause Arjen's ice-cream dyno graph to go off limits and crash!!

Round 23: 30/06/06, British Chippy

Date: 30 Jun 06 (Fri)

1900hrs - Dinner & Deep fried mars at British Chippy

2130hrs - GP Esso

2200hrs - Supper + Watch World Cup at Perling

IT IS the stuff of legends. Imagine taking a Mars chocolate bar, coating it in batter, then deep-frying it in sizzling hot oil. Once you sink your teeth into it, warm chocolate goo explodes into your mouth in a riot of sweetness. Deep-fried Mars bars are so heavenly they have been known to send chocoholics into fits of ecstasy, and calorie-conscious folks into cardiac arrest.

Well, you can try it for yourself at an English-themed takeaway place called British Chippy in Far East Plaza. The smell of beer-battered fish and chips, cheese sausages and curry breaded chicken - all standard British fare - will lead you to this 160 sq ft stall set up by friends Aw Yaomien, 25, and Joanne Teo, 26, last December.

Their version of deep-fried Mars bars is served in bite-sized chunks with ice cream on the side. At $2.95, it is especially popular among students, who snap up as many as 40 portions a day.

The batter used is a 'secret flour mix' from Mr Armstrong's recipe, says Ms Teo. The trick is to get the right consistency - too thick and the coating becomes too 'doughy', too thin and the Mars bar will melt when deep-fried. The recipe works best with Mars bars - bought from a local wholesaler - because of their caramel and nougat fillings. Milky Way's white chocolate bar comes a close second, but Snickers bars are 'too nutty', says Ms Teo.

Round 24: 11/07/06, Wild Hibiscus

Date: 11 Jul 06 (Tue)

Meet: 1900hrs @ Suntec Basement Food Court for dinner; or

Meet: 2000hrs @ Wild Hibiscus for ice cream

The flavours here have a pretty feminine character, given the use of herbs like lavender and elderflower mixed with mainstream ingredients like chocolate and banana. The balance is not quite there yet however, as the chocolate and lemongrass tastes mostly chocolatey, and the orange and lavender tastes like lavender, with bits of lavender husks in the ice-cream which you have to find a way of spitting out gracefully unless you want it to count as roughage for the day. The elderflower sorbet is quite light and refreshing.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I would like to bring some friends, about 10 of them, down to try the ice creams. Besides the Coffee Club Xpress at NUS, NTU and the Kaffe Esplanade at Republic Polytechnic, are there other outlets in Singapore? What are the operating hours of these 3 outlets? Reason being, we plan to go after dinner, probably around 8-9pm.

Also, do you have take-away packs available too?

Looking forward to hear from you.

Regards,

Pauche

Dear Pauche,

Good day! Thanks for inquiring about FIC. Besides the three aforementioned outlets, we are still in the planning stages of opening an official FIC scooping station. The three cafes may not be open until late (unless there are lectures at night). They usually close at around 8pm.

In light of this, we would be glad to deliver FIC to you. Simply email us the following details:

Name:

Delivery address:

Contact no:

Preferred delivery date & time:

Order (flavors, size/s and quantity):

A 475ml pint is $5 while a 1.9 liter tub is $16. Delivery is free but orders must be placed at least one working day in advance.

Please feel free to get in touch with us should you have further inquiries.

Sincerely,

Jeremy R. Chua

Dear miss jess, i found a kangtao for the next next ice cream outing (24 Jul 06). Their 3 outlets close pretty early (8pm), but they offerred to deliver the tubs to anywhere in Singapore so long as the order is made 1 working day in advance.

Would be nice if we could make the outing at your in-law's place again, by the pool side, hopefully with more 'fresh' mermaids this time. *Uncle Leong, pls get ready your camera*

lemme know k?
