hey guys

i'm riding a NSR 150 SP and i seem to suffer alot from damaged bearings. both my front bearings and my steering cone seem to be vulnerable and fragile. and the worst part is its kinda constant eg: 2mths and needed to be changed. what could go wrong? i didnt travel in potholes before to make it worst.

and to make things worst, each time i uses the front brake, it starts to gimme the "jerking" moment. what could go wrong? issit my brake pads?

lastly, hw much and where (in SG) does it cost to replace it?

so yeah. help needed. thnx.

could yr front forks be too stiff/hard?

i ever faced the situation when my steering cone would require tightening once every month or so. this came after i geh kiang requested shop to help me add fork oil to make my front forks stiffer and lower handlebar.

subsequently, went to do a front fork service and replaced steering cone (did a 2nd replacement in a short 6months!). the mechanic from the 2nd shop assured me he will topup an appropiate amount of fork oil.

my steering cone problem disappeared since then.

:goodluck:

Its best to use back OEM bearing. If dun have, source for reputable bearing models. If you have a sample of your bearing, bring it down to SLS or kian ho. Most of the time, they can find you the OEM or an equivalent.

Where you get ur bearing? Bike shop? If so, see what brand they use. And how much they charge you? You'll be surprise how cheap bearing is if you source it yourself, if you haven't already done so.

from my experience , if braking got tat jerk feeling it might be cause of ur brake disc.. its no level , u can touch the disc and feel whether it's level without any humps... as for bearings with seal, it may cause around 20 bucks...

when u go and replace ur cone bearings again, get ur mechanic to check ur head stem. its the thing where they knock in the cone races. if u put in the new cone bearings and still it is loose, then ur head stem has worn out. cone bearings can be changed. head stem cannot be changed.

ur front brake jerking may be because ur front wheel bearing are spoilt or maybe ur disc is bent.. check ur front wheel 1st, twist it from side to side to see if got free play. if got, means the problem comes from the wheel bearings. if no freeplay at wheel, then must check ur disc liao..
