Vito prone to break down, but driving it is good.Liteace is good for asian countries/climate(they said) unlike Vito(for european countries).Liteace shape as you can tell is abit round unlike Vito which is more of the square shape. Therefore liteace is smaller than Vito.

Ps: what I'm comparing is the old versions of Vito and Liteace, not the new versions ;) ever considered Hiace(not the high hood ver.)? or those Diesel turbo cars>

Posted

Haha. Cant afford the new version of Vito la. Turbo diesel cars, do u mean the smaller vans like combo and kangoo? Yeah im comparing all of them. But i heard its like vito when time passes and expensive to maintain, and a brand new one wont be cheap also. So really have to make a right choice haha, i dont wanna be a slave to the car...

In that case give up Vito in your choices, choose Jap models and you won't make a mistake, also are you deciding 1st hand or 2nd? Turbo diesel like Fiat Doblo(I think), Renault Kangoo, Citroen and such..0-100km/h I believe can fight with those spoilt brats driving WRX, but you're not a lacer so forget about that ;)

My views. Been driving this Vito since 2000. Once you drive continental, you will NEVER drive a Jap van again! Prone to breakdown? Been driving so long & has never break down on me. I've even drove up to Penang many many times without any problem! Not suitable for our climate? If that's the case all conti cars will not be suitable here. Square sharp? Check out my pix which was taken at Sepang during Advance Driving Course. It comes with original body kit. Been driving my co's van for so long no major problem. Only time is change brake rotor & your regular oil change, THAT'S ALL! Best of all,

it's fast!!! So don't just listen to 1 side, go ask those from the eurovan club!

Just my 2 cents. Cheers

my thats a good thing for you, I've experienced 2 vitos already.Bad. Maybe because it was used for daily work usage.Anyway I saw a Renault or Fiat van on the road.Looks quite nice.

In SG, many of the things getting first hand is not quite worth it ;)

getting 2nd hand is a gamble about getting a bad engine and etc..you decide.

Posted

i second that...once you go european...you will never go to japanese..totally different feel...

my combo has also never let me down before also...

expensive to maintain? the engine oil a jap van uses...i also can use mah...its whether i want to use or not..its your call...the bottle wont say whether its for "european" or "japanese"...does it?

spare parts yes...i wont deny that european parts are more expensive because of the exchange rate of euros..but if you take into consideration the lifespan of the product...the rate of depreciation might turn out to be the same.

hahaa...i work for stamford tyres...but no way i will put their stickers on my vehicle....NO WAY.

unless i am paid...

opel combo's cabin is actually the same as opel corsa...meaning the combo & the corse is similar right till its A pillar, where the combo stretches higher...interior exactly the same.

and no liteace can match my fuel consumption. i can get 16km to the litre average. Turbo. I can smoke any car below 1.6 litre...

buying a vehicle is a long term committment. initial cost is substansial....but do consider the running cost as well....

nah....road tax is only $500 a year....

the implications are extensive...people will think yours is a company vehicle...

"eh! lend me the van to run some errands leh..."

"eh! lend me your van to deliver some stuff"

and you know how people drive vehicles when its not theirs...

Turbo diesel like Fiat Doblo(I think), Renault Kangoo, Citroen and such..0-100km/h I believe can fight with those spoilt brats driving WRX, but you're not a lacer so forget about that ;)

where you get that idea from?

hahahaha

Opel Combo 1.7 DTI 0-100km/hr is around 15.5 seconds.

top speed on paper? less than 160km/hr iirc.

even the cheapest 2.5 wrx can hit 5.9s.

don't be disillusioned by the word "turbo".

a TC-ed diesel van is very different from your TC-ed cars, they are for very different purposes.

and with the small 13/14" wheels and high center of gravity, just imagine the amount of bodyroll when you do hard cornering.

go sit in a wrx and feel the turbo kick in before you make such comments again.

or even better, drive both vehicles in a twisty road, feel how the AWD works and how it goes around corners.

Also throw in 18"rims & tyres.:thumb:

you can do that for cars, put 21" inch also can.

but for goods vehicle, it's illegal.

they are very strict even on the tyres' size/width you uses. :giddy:

Turbo. I can smoke any car below 1.6 litre...

can you smoke a 1.3l RX8?

1.4l Golf GT?

1.5l manual vios? (the older version)

and once you hits 160km/hr, you can only see the tail-light of the RX8 getting further and further from you at 235km/hr.

i sat in a RX8 on NSHW before, the high speed performance was much better than i expected. in fact, i was astonished.

also, how stable is your combo at 160km/hr? :giddy:

try going 120km/hr on singapore expressway.

the car probably get a small fine and some demerit points, whereas you will go on court, get your license revoked and a hefty fine.

lets lay a bet...i drive my stock combo DTI into malaysia....i show you i can hit 165kmh at least..

we wager S$1K....cash.you sit beside me.

oh really?

wow...my eyes must be playing tricks on me...

i see so many of my friend's rides with 15 & 16" tyres....

and profiles comparable to any normal saloon car...

and how much does a WRX cost? $80K? loan of $60K for most commoners?

i bought my 2.5 year old combo with $22K cold hard cash...no loans...

im liability free.

can any $22K non-OPC below 3 years old give me a run for my money? guess not...

bang for buck....i guess i got the best deal.

the car vs van comparison will never end....there are things a van can do but a car cant...vice versa..

anyway...lets get back to topic of van vs van shall we?
