Congratulation! You may wish to ask around first before buying. I bought mine at Ban Hon which is at AMK Ave 3. (Near Caltex). By the way, there are somethings that you must take note while riding. The original stock tyres are not good. They are very slippery. You got to be very careful while riding through the rain. Oil Stains and White arrows on the roads are also very slippery. Do take note... I fell twice after getting my bike. You may read the past thread. Then now my colleague told me to change tyres. Now more stable already..

You need to nake sure Ban Hon OTR includes insurance for your age and P-plate. Also is it comprehensive, 3PFT or 3P only.

A few things you can do to lower your first insurance:

A. Consider buying 2nd hand, since it depends on year of manufacture

B. Don't get sports bike (Nouvo is ok)

C. Get quotes from a few insurance agencies yourself

D. Get 3PFT instead of comprehensive

I think you can get some bike details from y2kredbull and use that to get as many insurance quotes on the resale bike. That will give you a pretty good feel between buying new and buying a 9 months old bike. And help you to decide whether to buy his bike or not.

Nice one uncle. Actually, I would suggest him getting from y2kredbull. It will be cheaper this way because COE is quite high now. Normally the price that Ban Hon quote is based on bike price only. Ban Hon will then add the price of 3PFT to it. I will be renewing my insurance at $417 by June as quoted by Ban Hon. Since I am still under hire purchase, I am not able to get insurance from other companies...

Btw, I would like to know if there is any shop that is specialise in LEDs to replace all my bulbs to LEDs. I saw one gilera on the road, the light is all installed with LEDs light.

I would also like to know if there are any good suspension for my Nouvo. Maybe you guys can list them here and I go and find out more. Do provide me with more details if you have.

I think that is about all that Nouvo can be modded or change. I was also thinking of getting digital speedometer but then I realise that only Kosometer is available and not much other options. My friend was telling me not to get it. Any other recommendation?

icic, means that when u bought from ban hon, the insurance u get is 3rd party fire and theft? that one is 2nd party insurance or 3rd party?

Coz i kinda noob in this bike industry so if i not wrong, there is 3 insurance right? 3rd party insurance, 2nd party insurance fire and theft and the comprehensive insurance that covers everything...

After some consideration, maybe i can take a look at y2kredbull's bike coz it is indeed quite new and the COE now very high so abit bo hua for me to get new bike...

But can i ask some quesn regarding the bike here? How is the FC for ur bike? After modding the bike, does the FC decreases? I tink the only major mod u did is to change the suspension right? the rest is just more of a cosmetic mod?

Wat insurance company are there for me to get quotations from?

Sorry for all this quesntions coz this is the first time i am getting a bike and i have very little frens that noe abt bikes as well...:cheeky:

You'll just need simple details like Date of registration, Year of manufacture, Bike Model / Make, cc.

As for the actual price negotiation, it's always better to take a look at the bike before you bargain about the price, since there's already a price indication and seller says negotiable. It's not a $300 phone but $3000+ item that comes with maintenance costs that cannot be decided w/o having a look. Unless you are a resale bike dealer, who will always offer ridiculous price w/o even taking a look. The price will be higher than the price the shop will take back but lower than the price a shop will sell you for a similar condition bike, since it doesn't really makes sense for the private seller to waste all his efforts if it's the same price. But it should be reasonable compared to new bikes else it will never be sold. You should also go around asking the shops for comparison.

The only issue with buying from private seller is if you need a loan. Most shops are not willing to provide loan for a bike that's not done through them. A way to protect their business and stocks of old bikes. Somebody mentioned it's better to get those personal loans at 6.88% pa.

Good luck in your bike hunting!

COE high is just a way that seller uses to BS buyer into paying much more higher prices. The Cat D motorcycle COE has only increased $400 from Feb 10 to now, so if you are quoted more than $400 increase, they are trying to profit from it. Also, some shops have ready on hand COE that is at the previous lower price, which means you will be the 2nd owner on paper. If they are using this method, make sure they are transparent and itemise the costs for you.

Oh. I almost forgot. In order to ride into your camp, you need to go and take the defensive riding course. There will be a certificate to submit to your camp so as to ride your bike in. Without the certificate, you will be query if you are caught riding your bike in. You can also get it subsidise after attending. Do check with your Sirs or OC about this.

 Thanks Uncle for xplaining almost everything.

Initially i wanted to sell my bike for $4000(i bought it for $5500 only 9mths back). Then like i said that this guy PM me saying that i overpriced my bike and that a new one cost only $4700 OTR?I tot how could it be when even COE had increased.DId some research and saw that BP was selling a similar FBD bike for $3700(machine only, excl insurance, agreement fees, etc)

Hence i brought it down to $3800 considering i changed some important parts and had regularly serviced my bike.:cheeky:

altya, the price i'm looking at is $3800 but i can negotiate slightly more. Its quite a substantial loss for me considering i only rode for 9mths+ and insurance premium won't be able to get refund.I'll PM u the details. :)

Happened to find the numbers to the insurance agencies that I had called up when buying for my SW:

Allianz 62816520 (Molly/Sharon, Ban Hock Hin Co PL, the one that gave me the best)

Mitsui 63373133

NTUC 64777544

AXA 18008804741 (I think they don't do bikes but can try asking again)
