no, u aint dumb nor a blonde.

the bulb can be changed.

its a T-10 bulb.

gt the LED ones that SNapEl got for his ASS4 shld suffice....

the compartment segregation in the meter will somehow block the light rays hence the difficulty of reading the meter in the dark.

I changed to M400's 4 SMT LED but due to the blockage, still not bright, maybe the ones SNapEl gt can help..

or check out M400's MO thread...

now got many options ah...

HAHA thanks for advice. But think even if I get the bulbs, need SNapeL to help me change (while I watch and buy him drinks :p )

Its normal.

by the way, i got the crashbar. The bar is too close the gear shifter. Its annoying. You having the same problem?

I saw a white steed at parkway. So nice.

another was parked along ecp near the construction area reaching rochor.

Do they belong to anyone here?

Magg. I want those bulbs too if they are not to expensive!

take note. The current light is white but the filter paper is green. Would help in your choice of colours.

I got my mech to check ystd, he said it's like that leh. Well, it happens in the morning, so perhaps bike is "cold" and haven't warm up yet (Gee I don't know if I'm making any sense here).

As for the crash bar, hehe! No problem for me. Ladies feet are usually small. Even when I wear my furma gortex boots, it's still ok! :D

I'm using 2.6L with oil filter changed.

So far I change oil filter once due to the oring of the oil filter gave way.

So without oil filter, agag is abt 2.2L

Steed vlx brake light is above

Steed vse is below

Just wear thinner shoes will solve the problem.

drum brake always always got noise one... damn irritating... mine was SO SO SO bad, i changed it to new one... cause e mech say change to original will have lesser sound... ah chong was swearing, saying "i tell u change also no use one!!! i guarantee u sure still got sound one, dun waste your money la!"... but was really, bad, n i wanted to at least try... when took out e old one, still got alot of brake left to use lor! ah chong say at least 2 more YEARS. so wasted! n best part, even e old one was original brake shoes!!! so i changed it for $45 to a new original brake shoe... still got sound, but much lesser...

n i found out how the sound gets louder!!! if while serviceing anything at e rear wheel, tell e mech dont take out e old shoe n sand it down... usually when servicing bike, one thing mechs might do is to just sand down e brake shoe to make it more even, BUT DUN DO IT ANYMORE... cause i think that is what causes the sound to REALLY INCREASE... damn irritating and malu...

my speedo bulb also very dim... ah chong changed to new normal bulb, was brighter, but still not bright... so i changed it to my own LED bulb... definitely brighter, but i still feel not bright enough... but of course better than e normal filament bulb la...

at planet, i change eo, with or without oilfilter change, they still put in 2.7L... n everytime b4 i change, i will check my dipstick, n its always at e same part, so i guess not much of an issue...

coolant wise, it does reduce over time... ah chong tell me 1st time service, we do flush, but subsequently, just top up can already... n i calculated... after travelling for 3000km, i needed to top up about 250ml of coolant... so hope this helps...

crash bar wise, i think quite ok la, just need to get used to it...

tailight below is vse, tail light above is vlx, front suspension spring one is vls...

HAHA thanks for advice. But think even if I get the bulbs, need SNapeL to help me change (while I watch and buy him drinks :p )

only need a M8 or M10 socket wrench, an small/medium adjustable spanner and a philips screwdriver.

socket wrench is to remove the meter from the bracket, adjustable spanner is to hold the other side of the bolt/nut, if possible, can also use 2 socket wrench, screwdriver is to unscrew the meter rear cover, then just trace the wires & u'll see the meter bulb holder, just pull it out to replace.

Then reverse actions to put it back.

Grrrh. Anyone else's steed screeches in the morning when rear brakes are used?

Mine is super noisy and always cause embarrassment :(

guess u may read the replies for u here liao.

its a norm.

as its due to the surface to surface contact upon activation of the brake.

Oya, @ Tony, re: the additional support brackets from the pillion footpeg, shld use tube type instead of flat bar. this is bcos flat bar may flex upon stress, but the round tube can withstand better.

from the footpeg, ask the fabricator to press it flat & bend to shape & bolt it below the footpeg, then the tube can go all the way underneath the baseplate till to the 2 bolt points I show u last night, then, weld 2 tabs up to the bolt points.

make it a more sturdy reinforcement since the baseplate you're using is plastic(IIRC).

My suggest is to change to metal baseplate type, but then you already have the customized bracket, so just mk reinforcement shld suffice.

LOL yeah I always go Ah Chong there and he tells me the same thing. Actually my steed's screeching sound only happens in the morning. I usually just hold down my rear brake, throttle a bit and brake.. (repeat until sound goes off).

i realised screeching sound when after rain or morning. thus i guess it due to water or dew, normal riding no sound. One finding, when screeching brake effect more, no screech brake effect lousy. This is dangerous as sometimes when it screech and i brake as normal, it will be too hard, nearly skid. LOL!

i used to whine at ah chong about e sound... i say so malu!!! ride beside cha bo no face!!! then he say nabei, got sound means got brake! no sound means ur brake not working! so u wanna ride beside cha bo and no sound then u no need ur brake to work liao, then u die, then u cannot even talk to e cha bo... hahaha!

hey guys , before i do anything stupid ,

can i check if anyone knows whether the "wheel cover" can be removed from VLX rear wheel?

trying to remove it and showing the spokes like the front wheel.

There's 2 versions of rear rim for Steed.

Prior VSE has the spokey ones, & VSE edition is supposed to have the full castor rim.

the covers u've mention, could be just one of the accessories catered for those with the spokey rims to let it look its like a full castor ones.

if the spokes are still in good condition, my reccomendation is to keep the cover on, to protect it.

unless u like it spokey then otherwise. ;)
