i have this problem too...

i believe the sound comes from the tank hitting/bouncing of the frame when bike is ridden hard over pot holes or manholes etc..

this created atong tong sound...between the tank and frame at the front end should have a rubber suppressor/insulation..this piece may be missing/ worn out ..hence the sound.

So update on the "tong tong" sound, changed the "fuel ****" (ah chong name as such), becoz fuel leaking like crazy. the tong tong sound gone even when full tank. Update ppl if any related problem.

hmm.. to the best of my knowledge hor.. easy bracket is not a full bracket leh.. its juz a mounting system that allows u to attach and detach matching brackets..

Went to K&T today and clifford adjusted the fuel air mixture.. He noticed that the idling not constant (exhaust sound no rhythm) so that could be the cause... Checked plugs and air filter no problem. Now testing bike and idling seems to follow a constant rhythm. Only when hit reserve then will know... Your engine dies every morning when you first start? Must hold throttle to prevent stalling till the engine warms up? Mine has that problem. hopefully tomorrow morning problem solved on starting... :cheer:

I had the habit of opening my throttle abit when i start my bike.

My steed just had its carb washed at planet ($60), FC still like 18km/ltr... sadded...

Engine oil, plugs just changed like 2 months ago.

Mine has this problem, when u rev and release, it would not return to idling speed immediately after you release. it will take 1 - 2sec to slowly go back to idling speed. Throttle not stuck. throttle cable just change too.

(dunnoe if you guys know what i am toking abt).

Who tuned your carbs? Maybe can request for a little bit rich/ lean to improve FC and better throttle down... Tuning is Very important e.g, my (former S4) before tuning only could go 270km before reserve but after tuning, gained about another 20+km more...And also what petrol you using? I use Esso 98 and can only get 192km before reserve, a bit better than before tuning the air mixture (only achieved 170km). Will try with Shell, Caltex, etc... on other fill ups.. What's the best brand/ octane for your Steeds?

Terrible One: You might wana ask your fren to change back to the orig jetting since he also got it from the ex-owner. No point having bigger jets when the exhaust is stock. (I also test rode the bike before your friend bought it, felt that power was the same as my current stock steed ) Unless your fren is still using the Supertrapps you installed for him!

Maybe change back to orig jetting but tune it more rich (more fuel) and air.. Don't think FC will be worse than now...

not going down later.. today working lei.. the hardtail is basically replacing your rear shock with a solid steel bar.. means u got no suspension at the rear at all.. hence the name "hardtail". with this u can lower the bike as much as u want without fear of the wheel touching the fender when going across humps... but the trade off is.. your ass is gonna hurt.. and u have a real bumpy ride.. which is why hardtail and springer seats usually go hand in hand..

as for the installation, its jus removing the original suspension and replace with the metal bar.. how much u lower is dependent on the distance between the bolt holes u drill on the metal bar.
