All about Steed

[v-torque]

bros, I have problem with my steed cooling system. Try to flush it but when I open the drain bolts, nothing come out. Somehow the water stuck somewhere cos I fill it up. Can you point me where to get it serviced? Not many shop know how to handle this bike I think. Thanks.

And did any of you change the spokes to stainless steel one? Tried to search on ebay but they only have for harley. I was wondering if I can use the one for harley - the difference is harley has less spokes so if I buy the kit for harley, I probably need to buy 2 set.

if u know the length u can buy custom cut stainless steel spokes locally. Maybe can buy 1 pc from Boon Siew as sample. A fellow forumer by the nick of Phang ordered a few pcs from Kawasaki Japan for his W400 and buy the rest locally. I'm not sure which supplier but u can try PM Phang or ask the scrambler guys since they go tru plenty of wheelsets.

i know derrick of soon fah motors is going to have shitloads of steed accessories coming in soon so perhaps you can go check em out.. its the kinda accessories to fit on a steed straight from what i understood from our conversation, not the mod/bobber/chopper kind, just generally add-on accessories

just got my steed vse 400 today... i'm so loving this bike... very gd pick up, feels very nice and comfy...

 

anyway, i wanted to post some typical prices of common maintenance for steed 400... before i bought this bike i was looking high n low for the cost of maintenance for this bike but i could not find any... so i thought i will share how much i spent so that future newbies like me will know...

 

if i get anything wrong or if i was misinformed, pls do correct me...

 

i also asked ah chong from planet motors when i would need to replace these parts again, i will state it in e list below...

 

all servicing was done at planet motors...

 

 

 

1. rear tyre alone (dunlop i think)- $170 (change when necessary)

 

2. oil filter- $18 (can be replaced every 10000km if u ride normally in sg, but if u go msia and ride for long distance at high speeds, replace at 5000km)

 

3. Chessa brand fully synthetic engine oil (3 bottles)- $16x3 (change every 5000km)

 

4. spark plugs (4 pieces)- $5x4 (change every 15000km)

 

5. air filter- $45 (change every 15000km)

 

6. Maxima brand coolant- $20 (change every 15000km)

 

7. radiator cap- $8 (change when necessary only)

 

8. Full bike gloss black paint job at yeow motors- $320 is with high quality high gloss finish, with lower quality gloss finish can minus $20, and if u take out e parts and fix back on ur own can minus another $40...

the auntie next to ah boy has quite a fair bit of steed accessories as long as you can handle her garang-ness, personally i dont like to go there

Maybe it would be nice to think out of the box and look for non steed accessories.

Make friends with mechanics to put those unique parts on yr bike.

No point buying parts which are at least 10-15 yrs old.

 

My rule: If someone has it, I dont want it.

My engine is always leaking EO, rev is irregular, FC getting bad to worse 18km/l - 17km/l - 16km/l. Backfire like mad when travelling..

 

Thanks to Sprint74, he intro me to Amir. So i sent in my bike 10am on monday, and got my bike 2pm on the next day.

 

He change some float thingy and the valve in my carb. change gasket, and bolt seal.

 

Ride ytd

- backfire minimized, will go back for tuning again.

- EO dun see any leaking yet

- FC unknown, monitoring

- rev more regular

 

total damage 280.

 

going back next week.
