Don't just break your laptimes, SHATTER them!!

Ever since I had that terrible tankslapper last few trackdays ago, it's the expectation to crash whilst "pushing myself" inside a corner that plagues my mind.

But to actually work towards shaking that thought off my mind, I guess this is considered part of track practice....

At the moment one thing....

since I'm quite new to this, I've been trying to focus on one thing, lately it's been lines, I actively do this by removing other distractions like gears, I come into the corner slightly overgeared but it means I don't have to change down before the corner, and don't need to worry about having to change up during the corner, thus I can focus on one thing...

this is something I picked out from "twist of the wrist" and the notion of only having $10 to expend on doing things, so I maximise the amount I have available for my focus point.

oh and FAAARRRRKKKKK...... on the way into corners and wwwwwoooooohhhhooooooo! on the way out :-)

It doesn't matter what the question is, the answer is more power!

Heya, singkiwi

I believe you have read one of Keith's books right?

This is kinda like a 50/50 thing IMO. Whilst it is good to be over-geared, swinging yourself into a corner as you do so, sometimes I feel that it's the way the turn is constructed that gives a biker no choice but to enter with one gear lower for that time -- and to accept the distracting noise from the resulting high revving engines. Turn 5 is one example for me; (for instance) if there isn't a nice line around the corner and up the slope that an overgeared track rider like me and my bike can benefit from, then it'll have to be one gear down for that round.

How about you? I guess you ride differently since both of us have different bikes

Oh, and bless 'em ear plugs. They really do increase my concentration level and prevent any more potential hearing losses.

Strangely for me... the song Kryptonite by Three Doors Down keeps playing in my head all the time. Only time the music stops is when I am concentrating on finding the faster line through the corners. :giddy:

I had too sometimes ... but it's the rolling text "WHAT IF??............"

dun crash! dun crash!! dun crash!!!.......

mine's...... Dont Crash me ! Dont Crash me !

Next corner

If u see me at the next corner ... please overtake safely... :faint:

Well for me........ I'm focusing more on chasing the rider in front of me..... hehehehehehe..... especially the new (slower) ones..... and how to overtake them....

But seriously, I'm always taking notes of the feedback given by the bike whether it's in corners or straights.......
