In addition to my post about our local *policies* governing ethnic populations in our national uniformed groups, maybe our (Malay-Muslims) sense of patriotism is still questionable which is why you don't see us holding many high-level offices.

I don't believe that what I'm saying is seditious in nature. Neither am I condemning what has been working for the past 42+ years since 1965. It's just that I would like to see more Singapore Malays holding office in the high echelons of the Government without them being there solely for the sake of being seen there, get it?

I still shed tears of patriotism every 9th August when I watch NDP on TV and see our flag hoisted high to the tune of Majulah Singapura. I'd be reminded of the blood, sweat and tears which I gave during my NS days, just like every other NSman.

Back to the topic.

I just realised that without the fuel subsidies in Malaysia, a large majority of their population would find it difficult to afford petrol to run the errands on. They have lots and lots of kup-kias, and lots of old Sagas and other old cars as well. Could we assume that a large part of their population lives simply and are happy with their old vehicles? Could they afford new ones, and could they afford non-subsidised or even taxed fuel? I doubt so.

If their petrol were to be matched to our SG rates, many Malaysians would not use their cars and bikes because it would be too expensive. I'm not sure if the national average income is high enough to support higher fuel prices, as a large part of their economy is still based on agricultural industries like rubber tapping and rice farming.

Eh yah lah, M'sia Caltex petrol quite poor actually. I can feel my engine getting *rough* when I pump Caltex from JB, as if the petrol is very thin. They got a good location I must say, just before Singaporeans exit JB.

haa.. chim...

i pumped Mobil F1. isit recommmendable??

i find that whenever i start my bike, the idling will be very very low at first, almost going to stall. (even when i parked for 2 - 3mins)

after 3 -5 secs, then went up to normal 0.8 - 1 rpm)

why is this so? isit because of the petrol..?

but personally, msia petrol are more 'rough' leh, makes the engine sounds more noiser too...

I find all these talk about our neighbour inferior petrol is totally baseless.

Thanks goodness we can get "Cheap" petrol which is heavily subsidised by our neighbour government.

As for losing power, roughness or whatever, it's basically how your bikes are tune to which RON type petrol and got nothing to do with inferior petrol. Your super duper racing bike tune to RON 98 V-POWER will also turn sluggish if you pump cheaper local RON 95 petrol. In fact the amount of energy in whatever RON type of petrol is the same. In fact I support lower RON type petrol which cause less damage to the environment. However low RON type petrol is not suitable for those high compression low cc engine use in Singapore, so no choice have to pay more $$$ for higher RON type petrol.

If not happy about "Cheap" inferior petrol, by all means pump in Singapore. Don't complain too much and make our "good" neighbour bay-song and impose a fuel tax then see who is on the losing end.

Second link for the win. Yes, you pay for toll charges...

But you get an opportunity to clear your pipes. cant do that in the first link. you wont want to risk doing that in singapore either.

quality issues? nope. nada. probably in your head.

I love Msia petrol. The only thing SG petrol has that is superior to Msia is TIME. If it's not so time-consuming to run across customs to pump in MY, there's no chance I would touch SG petrol, ever.

half price nia. even the quality nt as gd also no complains.

Stay in woodlands, go pump every week.....one month can save me ard $60+, worth it! i pump petronas which feel better than others on my s4

Posted

jst to add in...i have been pumpin m'sia petrol for the past 6yrs or so.i go in by the woodlands.i have tried Shell V-power,caltex97 n mobil f1.i have stuck wit mobil f1 as it gives the best mileage amoung the 3.caltex the fuel is thinner as a result burns faster n hve the tendency to evaporate.tis happens to Vpower also.as for the power i feel if u tend to maintain the bike should be alrite.so far i hve had no problems due to fuel from m'sia.

i think its cost effective for ppl stayin in the west as they are nearer to both the customs.per trip i go in i spend abt 20 sing.jst to pump get one milo can n go.i don smoke so no cigrattes.jst don go during the jam periods then u wld regret ever goin to JB.

day times go abt 2pm cos tats before the afternoon shift ppl knock off.both sides wld be free.if not jst check online at onemotoring.

i hope tis helps...well the main thing is ITS CHEAP...

I stay woodlands too and work in woodlands thanks god haha. Normally i wun just go to JB to pump petrol. huh Talking abt saving of cost. Normally per month i wun just change $100 to Ringgit and can last me one whole month. And my tank is big enough to last me for 1 week pump one time.

And the petrol i always like to use is mobil synegy f1 , which i feel give me a better milleage compare to using singapore esso 95 . i ever try before 98 still wun get the milleage JB petrol had given me . So :thumb: for that.
