As copied from my reply to u in the other thread:

No matter whether u are a man, woman or alien, so long as u got 2 legs, the Phantom is a good choice for those who juz paz their 2B and looking for a good bike.

Chio - Depends on individual. Phantom is not ugly.

Cheap -It's quite cheap for.

Maintenance - Very affordable.

If u intend to stay 2B for long time and need a bike just for transport, maybe get a new Phantom.

======================

Add on to ur questions here:

"further detailed description :

- Relatively easy maintenance

U juz need to oil ur chain. The rest just go tobikeshop for regular maintenance. No worries.

- Not too expensive to maintain

It's very cheap and affordable, even for a student.

- Comfortable and Sufficient sitting space needed for myself (not intend to have any pillion rider)

Phantom is far more comfy than a sportsbike like SP, KRR or maybe even the Wave.(?)

- Need a storage box or compartment (at least able to put afew of my textbooks/files)"

Yes, a Phantom looks nice with a box. U can even add sideboxes.

I do not own a Phantom, I rode a NSR then a Super 4. But as others had mentioned, I think it's better u get a bike with clutch as that's what u learnt in riding schools.

I tried Wave before, but juz not used to the clutchless riding.

And also, please buy a full face helmet. And preferably also a riding jacket.

U can try calling the below shop for a quote:

Mah's Motor:

Tel: 62933841

It's at Serangoon.

I think Mah's Motor price is on the higher side, but it's one of the more established bike shops ard.

If u buy second hand, if the bikes seems very cheap, then beware!!!

There's very few fantastic bike deal in sg. Open ur eyes before u part with ur cash!!! Shop aroudn first, dun be too kan cheong to buy a bike.

Hi there,

No offence to Phantom riders, in fact i rode phantom for my first bike and even though i am a guy i found the bike hard to manage.

The front wheel and the bike in general is quite heavy. Also the bike is rather long and hard to maneuver. Tendency to skid is very high.

Now riding a TW200. Quite low for a scrambler and price for new one is about the same as that for the phantom. Difference is that it is light and easy to handle. Also the wheels are nice and thick and results in lesser skidding.

Here is a link to the bike:

Go old school man! The Yammie RXK135 is a nice 2-stroker with lots of potential modifications!

- Cheap parts

- Cheap maintainance

- Cheap petrol [i use Shell 95!]

- Cheap 2T [$8 a bottle last me 2 months!]

- Doesn't look obiang with a box which gives you room to put your barang barang!

- Don't like boxes? Make it into a retro bike!

- Powerful enough to have fun. Mine went up to 130kph before... Considering its a 16yr old bike.

Btw, there's a smaller version of that bike you attached the pic. Its called Honda FSX which is a 150cc 2 stroker. But there's not much of it on the road though....

you are greedy.. :)

the blackbird, which i'm gonna be giving up... will take you at least another 2 years... if you're lucky..

personally, i would say any good handling bike in all conditions... sports bike are my favourites..

but based on your prefs, i'd recommend any road bike for now... like wat lion was mentioning... rxk or rxz... something that looks like the honda cb250 or cb400... those naked bikes... but 200 cc or less... just like the black naked bike stsoh has in his post..

scramblers are probably too high for chicks, and not the best handling in wet conditions... cruisers/choppers/scooters are ok choices but still not very good handling as compared...

you probably want something that'll give you confidence on the road as you go along... a good handling bike just might save your girly behind in times of trouble...

then maybe, when you're ready, you can get something you really like..

Get the best italian 2b bike.

Aprilia MX125.

Get into the latest Motard craze.

Almost new second hand one selling for $8999 + 2%agreement fees, OTR all in.

blackbird is for long distance touring like here to thailand or kl. it's not good to use it in singapore oni. it will be under utilised. that model will be good if u go it with kr. i have a fren who rode kr for 3yrs and said it's well with the pockets and with the power delivered. personally i rode nsr for 18mths and found not much problem with it either.

Aprilia bikes are high in maintainance and scrambler type doesn't go well with girls.

This is what a female newbie on a KR150 can do on the track. The bike not only looks good, it can perform and handle well too.

KR150 parts are easily available and cheap. And I am really impressed with the engine... seeing it being ridden at around 8000 to 10000 RPM all the time on the track and it is still holding up very well. Tells you alot about the reliability of the engine.

normally girls dun really go for class2 bikes cause most of them are too high for them. unless they wan to tip toe one foot when stopping. then wish them luck.

7k is if u wanna get big 2b bikes. den u need those kind of money. u can get kr or cbr150 abt rather 3-3.5k from bike shops.

there's too much things to take note that i recommand u to get an expert to go and view bike with u. personally i went to view before and i managed to point out some serious problem with the bike. :cheeky:

here are some shops

Bike Production ( off serangoon road. have so far quoted me the lowest for bikes )

albert motors ( bukit merah road. have poor reputation for things they do and i personally encountered it before. but i resolved it. if u really wanna go see bikes there, need to get a very expert person there.)

Loois (ubi road. have a nice reputation cause of the mechanic there. Meng Tong. quoted me a good price also. )

any queries pls dun hesitate to pm me.

hmmm.... i tin i might smell some 'hidden intention' from rolling mao :p

i'm quite a stable person, will do sufficient market research before i go and buy the bike... will not cheong like this, and i would like to be responsible too for my bike : to pay for it myself, SO it would take abt another 3mths or so, to save up (+road tax+insurance and etc)

i would like to my 'impulsive, tempting emotions' to cool down, and surface up a practical, mature views and decisions before i 'take action'

so... rolling mao... you got to wait long long yo~ :D

(juz joking lah, no hard feelings yah) but still *seriously*, i sincerely grateful for your kind advice...

yes, will listen to your advice, and should i am going down to those motortiam will bring my seniors along....

you are not correct... since when has riding been just about fully utilizing something... there are many reasons why there are so many big bikes around and not everyone goes touring... i can give you a whole list of reasons if you really want to know... nvm, forget i said anything... we are all riders anyway.

2006cornerstone, the kr or cbr150 looks like a good choice but riding position just not as comfortable, if that's important to you... and rollinmao has already offered his services to help you pick one out... if you have frens with similar bikes to test out even better.
