No bro,

They have to follow alongside you and tag your speed on their digital tagging meter...(or whatever they call it).

How to use laser when you're on the move??

Otherwise, they use the handheld...

the device is mounted on their bike...1 front 1 back...when they go beside and stop u or chase u far from behind, u r getting a ticket for sure...

they have to clock your speed for a distance before they stop u..i think so..

My friend,

Actually, some of the TP bikes have a "speed detector gun" type device attached to them. Not really sure if it's radar or laser based though.

In fact, the bike of the TP i spoke to had 2, such that he could check the speed of a vehicle that's in front or behind him. He claimed that it was tested and proven accurate for speed detection on the move.

For vehicles traveling alongside the TP, i supposed they compare it to their calibrated digital speedos.

So, bad news, we all have to keep an eye out. =)

Regards,

Sca/2

You're right bro... I just found out that they have the lasers which are able to track your speed on the move from MULTIPLE angles...

So, better to keep within the speed limit, yah?

I think the 'myth' applies for static speed cameras.

I heard its actually allowance of up to 20km/h (accidentally tested it before).

But for mobile cameras, as you mentioned, that depends on the mood of the person operating it.... :)

I think that's true 'cos I was doing 74km/h along Telok Blangah Road -> West Coast Highway last Friday morning and yesterday I got advisory letter from them. Thankfully no summon. 74km/h is what the mobile cam clocked me.

What I remember that day was I saw the TP on the overhead bridge and I was sure he wasn't looking. Seems like he was loitering instead. Good thing I slowed down. Any faster and I'll have to pay

I passed alot of times at >110km/h at AYE NUH & ECP Fort Road Camera. yet nothing. I guess at least 20km/h or the camera not working or my speedo not accurate. I riding FZ6.

Once I tink 1 was ard 120km/h at the AYE NUH camera, yet nothing again.

Maybe I heng or wat. Have a habit of daydreaming, always miss speed traps.

But mobile camera, I got summons b4 for travelling 90+km/h on a 60km/h road. 8 points plus $150 fine.

For that speed camera, it would snap any pics even if you go 300kph because there is no camera in that housing.

Next time, on a bright day, going towards Airport, take a good look at lens on the camera housing, you can see right though it.

Sometime it is the weight...

for bikes the weight is slightly lighter... so because the sensor are getting old the it may or may not sense you...

in the end of the day... dun try lah...:thumb:

Was riding along SLE today at ard 110km/h when saw a white WRX=Expressway police on the road shoulder around yishun area.

No time to slow down but heck care and keep going on at around that speed until i reach woodlands.

Anyone knows the speed limit at the above mentioned stretch of road?

And Im riding a phantom TA150 so as they always say that small bikes the speedometer is not accurate for eg 110km/h on my phantom = 100km/h on maybe normal japanese sedan? it is true?

It aint me officer...The bike is POSSESSED!!

Talking abt other allowances,

What is the "targeting distance" by which the "static cams" held by TPs on overhead bridges/ roadsides. If I slow down just in front of it will I still kenna if I was exceeding spd limit? 30m?

The speed camera on the expressway can monitor only one direction at a time, and to change that, the camera has to be manually rotated.

So you could be lucky that the speed camera was monitoring the other direction.

I tot that box camera is for both sides? Been there for ages...

Cos I remember going to and fro the CTE, there are signs depicting Speed Camera Ahead on boths sides.
