ARF depends on the OMV of the bike. OMV is the cost of buying the bike from manufacturer and shipping it to Singapore (freight, insurance, etc..). OMV is declared by importer to custom. You'll have to ask the bike shop what is the OMV of the bike.

The machine price of 26K = OMV + ARF + importer profit + bike shop profit (something in this line)

I'm riding an old 2A bike with an OMV of $5800.

Base on the old tax system, the ARF is 15% for $5.8K = $$870

Base on the new tax system, for the first $5K, ARF is @ 15% = $750. The next $800 is subject to 50% ARF = $400. Total ARF = $1150. So difference is $280. Compare to the price of COE, it is a small fraction (5%).

I may be wrong, more experience forummers are welcome to correct me.

Ohhh!! Thanks now I get it!!

A simple lay man answer to a complex question!....If i read the budget correctly also...any remaining OMV above $10,000 is subject to 100%ARF?

I ride at 70km/hr only...please please dont blow2 at me or overtake me dangerously....wait i change into Incredible Hulk n dont know why my little baby bike will always be ahead of u if u do that

curious... IF COE goes down to about 4K, which means bikes with OMV below 5K will now cost about 2.5k lesser... helping those with lesser income to buy new bikes and to reduce the cost of COE renewal, do you feel that its a successful policy change? would you be happy?

Include the machine price of the bike?

I'm referring to COE... currently at around 6.5K. If it falls to 4K. Which means bike like Bajaj Pulsar or kupchai will cost 2.5K lower overall

might drop even more, due to Cat D COE will not return to Cat E after May.

The problem is some PI bikes dealer might not have cash to to pay ARF upfront.

Got confirm buyer already then they bring in the bikes and bid for the COE. Confrim COE will drop more if they work that way.

Like some of the car PI dealer, not much cash to pay ARF upfront to import in, only do it when there is comfrimed buyer.

Guys, there's nothing in life that you need to worry about. Problem is one thing but how do you solve it? Money or job is major concern for anyone..I'm sure there's no one with no skills or talents. I believe everyone is born with different abilities. Some are good at sports, some are good at music while some are at science, maths and so on. If you want to earn exra money then I'd advise you to teach something to kids.

You can do so by signing up with House Tutor Singapore Click on this and change your career.

Riding a bike comes with calculated risks. There is a difference between putting yourself in danger and when someone else put you in danger. For the former you know the precautions to take but not for the latter.

Its true riding is very dangerous. Any mistake no matter how small, by us or other road users can be potentially fatal.

We can try to allow some margin for errors when we ride... don't ride too close to other road users, travel at a speed and position yourself that allows you to make corrective actions if you misjudge or make mistake or even when other road users make manoeuvres that endanger you.

Sometimes I see bikes travelling at too slow a speed that cause other road users to make dangerous manoeuvres unnecessarily. And sometimes travel too fast that if cars make mistakes, we may not have the space or time to react.

Liverpool revival has started....

Yeahh I know, my dad got bumped by a van while riding and skidded on the highway. Lucky he skidded to the left/right side with my much vehicle at high speed, if not it is the end of him.

That's why he don't really support me riding, but I just love bikes a lot lol

Sorry I didn't mean that way, biking is serious stuff I know.

Just that all my family members keep repeating their words and hindering me from biking.

Seems they care alot for your safety and well being or they do not trust you with your own safety. When you start to ride just keep in mind that drivers are blind to your existence. They are caught up in their own world. They cannot register in their brain that riders are on the roads everywhere. Simply say they think they are the only ones on the road. Except for those drivers who rides. They are the ones who will most likely shift abit to let you pass thru while you are lane splitting.

I was riding just now in the rain in the middle lane. And there is this lorry which drives fast in and fast out lane changing. He closes in my back really quick.

For the 3rd time he closes in, I turn back and stare at him then only he back off and then overtook me from the right. And even while overtaking he is acting busy and in a rush...geez...

Ride safe everyone especially in the rain...

The roads have a lot of road bullies in big vehicles. They are taking advantage of their vehicle size. They know that in any accident we riders suffer hence why we gave way almost all the time. These drivers should be dealt with severely by the law. As long as the sentence is a few thousands fine and a few months jail its not enough to act as a deterrent. The cane should be included as well.

i am very angry simeone. Please put a camera front and back. take a look at the camera after you reach your destination. if you feel he is very close, sent to TP. the only problem is when it rains, many cameras i find get so fogged up.

i have many incidences like this. i find lorry drivers are very very impatient.

today, i see on the news 2 death. 1) a car passenger opened a door and a rider died

2) a 24yrs old rider died at PIE because of lorry driver.

sad , very sad

That is what I understand too.

I'm not into big bikes and have been reading a little since the budget announce the change.

I'm quite surprise that OMV for some big bikes could be so high.

Imagine the OMV of a Honda Vezel is below 20K and OMV of some bikes are in this range too! Wow or maybe I sua ku (mountain tortoise)...
