electrolysis is caused by current flowing in a electrolytic medium, which can also mean water. it causes metal ions to be discharged, or in the case of H20, it causes h2 and O2 to be discharged.

3A is alot actually ! it means your bike consumes 36Watts of power with nothing on??

To check resistance, u need a multi meter.

Thanks for all the info, it's very informative and to me, interesting, helps me actually understand what the he'll I'm doing.

I have a multimeter, but i'm afraid I'm a noob at using it. I know how to check that there is continuity in a wire or circuit, with the beeping sound, or the 0000 on the display when on OHMs position. I know how to measure voltage.

Now that you mention the wattage, I wonder if I know how to measure amperage :cheeky:

I put the multimeter on the mA..oh. Ok. Got it, I'm such a moron.. It's not Amps but milli amps !

What a wonderful feeling to realize one's own ignorance. Liberating. :D

Thanks Guozz for that ! :p

Ok so that's good news.

I'm going back to the carpark to test a switch on the same wires, but without the fuse box.

Oh I forgot to mention, I have a relay installed as well, taping into the ignition wire. Now I can't remember for the life of me how the whole thing works together with the battery and the fuse box but after a bit of cafeine it'll come back tome I'm sure.

Again, thanks to all who have helped, I really appreciate it, makes me feel less lonely against the mystery at hand :)

Most welcomed, btw it's not easy to check the resistance of wires since most multimeters only measure to .1 Omhs.. best u check the voltage from one end of the wire to the next if possible. The voltage should be small. indicating low resistance. If it's like 1V or something, then something might be wrong with that wire, probably partially severed.

Check the voltage across the Switches when it's switched ON. voltage should be low on that as well.

A Relay tapping into the ignition wire? why'd u do that?

nahh,d chicks at bbdc are even hotter. oohohoho!! btw, i went there to cancel my class 2.

at fb u mentioned about my rear tyre sound. i did checked up dis evening, it could be the place around d spoket or worse, inside the engine. gona go bike shop 2moro to c wats going on, guess that time when my clutch cable snapped, i had to force shift gears. the result could be a damage to the inner engine. i pray its not.

neva been to bbdc b4..should hang out der 1 day..but wad license to take? i got all alrdy..cl4 / 5 onli haven take..n dats at ssdc. sori didnt inform u earlier abt ur rear wheel..it slipped my mind.

A Relay tapping into the ignition wire? why'd u do that?

Tomorrow I'll post a drawing but here's how it is :

Battery positive (with fuse) to relay, ignition wire to relay, relay to fuse box, both neg and positive wires. It's a relay with 4 pins can't remember what it's called.

Battery negative to fuse box.

All accessories positive wires to a switch, switch to fuse box's positive plate. (It's the wire between the fuse box and the switch that got burnt in all 3 cases previously mentioned)

All accessories negative wire to fuse box's negative plate except for the Aux lights which are going directly to the battery's negative bolt.

Accessories hooked to the positive plate of the fuse box are:

- Aux lights (1A, 12V, less than 10W each)

- Car Power socket for USB charging

- Bullet lights x4 (LED type, can't remember the specs but it "consumes" very little)

Directly connected to the battery are:

- Hella horns (10A fuse on positive wire)

- Alarm (fuse as well, can't remember how much Amps)

- Earth plug on battery negative

All this is not "too much" on the wiring, most of these are drawing very little power, and to even add to this, my alarm has not been connected for months !

So it has to be the connectors are loose or not the right type. Or I don't wire the connectors properly. I don't know.

Just went over every single one to/from the fuse box and battery, and did again those that were suspicious, and sealed all connectors with liquid electrical tape (a genius invention, in my DIY top 3 with WD40 and Fuse tape :D).

I'll be damned if those connectors or wires rust again. When I'll redo the switches I'll do the same, insulate them as much as possible.

Let me know if you think something in my wiring or the way things are connected doesn't make sense please ! :shy:

U dont really need thicker wires, just more strands connected in parallel.

Meant to ask you, what do you mean by more strands in parallel?

Photos from the first burnt wire I found. The photo posted a few pages back was taken after I hooked the Aux lights to another switch.

You can see all the other wires for the other switches. The wires from the fuse box don't go directly to the switches. They go to a connector (in transparent plastic cover in the photo), then the wires from the switch hook up to the connector, female/male connector type. This is to allow me to remove a switch or add/change an accessory easily. But maybe this is a very bad move for my overall circuit

I did it thinking that using those insulated connector (they close very tight) would be ok. But the burning of the wire showed me that the first time the wire burnt at the connector level (maybe I didn't wire it correctly), and the second time, right after the connector. That second time I checked the connector's wiring, and I added fuse tape to insulate it so it was 100% sealed. The burning caught the wire right at the exit of the connector, obviously where the wire was "weaker" and prone to fry and melt the insulation.

Does the sound happen at every gear or randomly on any gear?

Yesterday evening, I put my bike on stationary & jacked up my bike cos my bike no center stand. I run my bike n changed gears. surprisingly, ders no weird sound heard(like metal rubbing each other, chirping sound etc) on every gear. However I noticed dat my chain is moving unevently at gear 5. So I suspect something. Wen I rode it dis morning , everything was smooth, change of gears, running at 110km/h constant etc on highway, although I can feel something was wrong. wen I was about to exit SAFTI, I slowed down, then the chirping sound occur. In addition, I can feel my bike wobbling slightly. Wen I parked my bike at my workplace. I tried to move my rear tyre side ways. I found out dat the my rear tyre is a bit loose, it could be a part of the swingarm also.

My deduction: the loose ‘swingarm/tyre’ might cause a link reaction to the chain, spoket and the gears.

Gona go bike shop later on. This all happens when my clutch cable snapped and I had to force changing gears. before this incident occurred, the bike was running like the wind.

so how much the flight?

how huge a tank will save u the cost of the flight?

does ur huge tank fit ur house?

even if u're able to escape tax, the distance travelled dont save u a lot, unless u're planning to stay there.
