Yupp, sold it yesterday to an Indian Expat. No regrets. It was making noise in the 5th gear. There was also a different kind of growling sound that occured when closing throttle. Had oil consumption issue, had to top up every 2 weeks. My phantom has done 85k kms but just crank the engine and listen to the thump it sounds like it just came out of the factory :). This phantom is going to be with me for a long long time :)

wah .. very bad of you lah hehehehee

selling your 'problem' bike to someone .... poor guy have to repair the bike!! ..hmmmmmmm

hopefuly he don't end up like speed addict case when bought from someone ... kekekee

if selling to a shop it's ok lah .. cos it's up to the shop to repair or just leave it!!! ...... hohohohohoh

reason why I have enough from getting a second hand bike and opt for new bike for my P200 .... cos similar cases when I bought a used car before!! .... kekekkee

........... cheers!!

Haha, These are all minor issues, lah. If he can live with it then no problem. While selling him itself I told him that this pulsar makes a lot of noise after 60 km/hr. But strangely he was not bothered, maybe because he is Indian and he knows the pulsar well. Also, I told him that the most important thing is engine oil and keep checking it and changing it regularly. If he follows that then he will not have to overhaul.

Cannot help, lah. Need to sell the bike to someone, just like someone sold it to me. Kekekeke..

Oil consumption is common thing is older bikes, my previous pulsar too had that issue. I heard from phantom thread that many old phantoms too have oil consumption issue. The 5th gear noise I agree its unique to my bike, but Ah Teck said that the noise is livable with, i.e. it will not cause any other damage. I gave the guy a hint about it, by telling him that it makes a lot of noise. Its upto him to take it.

This is the pulsar that I had bought:

http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/showthread.php/321319-CHEAP-CHEAP-PulSar-for-sale

When I had bought it, it was 56,600 kms. In 2 months 9 days I rode about 3000 kms on it. :) The main reason for selling is not because of the small issues with the bike, but because I always wanted to own a phantom.

I shifted from AMK to Pasir Ris, now my office is only 10 kms. Earlier it was 25 kms. Also AMK it was easier to go to JB to top up. From Pasir Ris its far, also my passport pages only 10 more remaining. If I have the pulsar I will feel like going to JB to top up. With Phantom, I wont go to JB anymore. Let the Singapore petrol bunks make some money from me, haha.

Phantom riding is ok. Advantage is the six speed.

Less revs compared to Bajaj.

But for my height, I still like P200. Phantom a little low for me. Need to modify the footpegs if not painful.

For my height 5'6'' both phantom and pulsar are fine. They are different riding styles. Pulsar you lean forward a bit, you feel like accelerating and overtaking everyone.

Phantom is opposite. Its very relaxed and made for cruising, you wouldn't care who wants to overtake you. Just hog the road and feel like god :cheeky:

My phantom has got those floor boards for rider and pillion, very comfy for cruising :)

u should thank god nothing haapen to the lamp post, or nobody saw u. it'll cost a lot more than the whole bumper.

speaking of which, i think i have something with mj that i forgot to collect, lol

Accident can happen anytime, anywhere.

However ask yourself, do you want to fall at 120km/h or 60km/h?

Hey guys, hope everyone is doing well.

My bike is leaking oil. Spotted it this morning when I came down to check on her. I don't think it was there yesterday when I checked on the bike but now I'm not sure.

It's not much, but not a few drops neither.

I changed the oil last Wednesday, and put my usual mobil fs1 I had brought with me.

Made sure the mechanic only topped up 1.2L. But didn't watch when he closed the oil screw after draining the old oil. I asked him he said he tightened it and maybe it was too tight? Or not enough?

I haven't checked anything, just put some newspaper on the ground to see when I come back if it still drips oil.

We had planned to do a temple visit this morning and I'll have plenty of time later today to look at the bike in detail, so that's all the info I have for now.

I'd appreciate it if you can give me ideas of what to look for, here's what I'm going to do:

- check oil level

- check drain screw for any loose feeling

- try to trace oil leak (but I'm not very optimistic on this one seeing how hard it is for UM to sometimes know what is causing a leak)

Anything else?

I feel sad, it's the very first time Shadow has a problem. We went riding on an off road with all sorts of rocks, maybe some rock damaged or cut into the engine, is it possible?

A few more questions please :

- what can be the cause

- if a part needs to be changed, which one would it be ?

- those who had the problem, what fixed it ?

- is it wise to ride with this issue if say I can't find the origin of the problem?

I can take the bike to a shop and find someone to help translate but I'm certain they won't know how to go about it or where to look...

@oren, I dont think its rock or anything. It could be due to some oil seal/gasket giving away due to the stress of the long ride. Did you ride continously above 8k RPM?

How bad is the leak? If its like 1 drop every hour then it shouldn't be a problem, make sure you carry a spare bottle and top up regularly, untill you reach a bike shop. Try not to stress the engine too much, ride close to 7k RPM or lesser

o'ren,1st of all you need to see where the leak is from...

what you should do now is to wash clean your engine area or the drain bolt area...

then observe the leak if there is any...

might have chance its your chain lube also...

Thanks guys, it's not the chain lube for sure, it's clear engine oil, and since it's new (changed 800km ago) it's clear: there is no mitaking it for the chain oil.

I have been riding always below 7k rpm. Except for SG->KL. After that, it rarely even got to 7k rpm!

I'll wash it and try to find the leak when I come back to the hotel. I hope it's something that can be fixed. Finding a bike shop here shouldn't be a problem, the real problem is language and more importantly parts and knowledge to fix the pulsar...

For those of you who had leaking EO in the past, how did you fix it?
