Hey guys, how often do you all change your front and rear brake pads as well as rear brake shoe?

anyway, what is the brake shoe for and what are signs to change it?

my rear brake pedal has to be stepped very hard then the brake comes into effect, is there anything wrong with the brakes?

Bridgestone Battlax lor, UM cheapest liao. if budget u can get dunlop or IIRC if more budget shinko from LAB or JB liao.

For tyre, can go to Ah Boy workshop directly. He sells cheap cheap. I got the Dunlop TT900 100/80 rear tyre for 65$. Dunlop is good enough, next best to bridgestone.

P180,200,135LS using front disc brake and rear drum brake...

Disc Brake uses brake fluid as a acting agent to push out the piston in your brake caliper which uses the brake pads to "clamp" on your brake disc using friction to stop the spinning of the rim...

Drum Brake uses mechanical pull rod system, when the brake lever is depressed, the rod pulls causing the your rear brake shoes to expand and with the friction of the brake shoe against the wall of your rim to achieve the stopping effect...

from what you describe, you can adjust the spring tension of your rear brake or take out and change the rear brake shoes(might be worn out alr)

when is your last change of the brake shoes?

when was your last servicing?

what did you do for your last servicing?

Today, 1st time I adjusted my clutch freeplay at the crankcase side haha. I tried doing at the clutch lever side but the screw even after totally screwing in, the freeplay was not enough, so I had to screw-in at the crankcase side. Actually crankcase side adjustment is so much more easier, never knew about it :)

To the newbies, please adjust your clutch cable, it makes your ride so much more nicer. Since I have bought quite a few used bikes, I noticed that every bike that I bought, the clutch cable is either too tight or too loose. There are quite a few videos on youtube about how to adjust your clutch cable. Dont rely on the mech to do it. Last time at UM they did it quite ok, but still I had to increase the freeplay a bit so that the biting point is nearer to me for quick gear changing and also the depressing of lever is less stressful.

Thanks for the information. The last time i went for servicing was around 5 months ago, what i did was to change sprocket and chain as well as the basic servicing. brakes shoes i am not sure, never changed it since i got my bike a year ago.

how do i adjust the spring tension? do i just go to UM?

if you are not sure you can just drop by UM to do it...

there is a small screw at the right side of your rear tire...

how many km is your EO?

for safety reason, think ask mech to blow clean/sand away the brake dust accumulated in the brake hub...

for bajaj pulsar yes and no...

P180 UG1-4,p200 & 135LS all using rear drum brakes...

P220(sg never import) and 200NS(coming soon) using rear disc brakes...

basically all pulsars in singapore rear using drum brakes which uses brake shoes...

but there is 1 x P180 UG3 in SG using rear disc brake...

for more info for braking system go here

FC doesnt depend on type of petrol. It depends on riding style and condition of the bike. 35 km/Ltr is too low no matter what your riding style is. Check all the usual suspects for bad FC. Mainly the carb tuning, airfilter condition, clutch plates.
