You can try Christine55's harley thread to see if there are any Nightster updates.... not any at the moment. There was one for sale at the Garage Sales but owner changed his mind. About the top box, i don't think it's a good idea....

hi Don Juan, many thanks for replying.. im from a street fighter background.. currently riding s4 w topbox.. recently ive been captured by e beauty of Harley nightster e 2009 version and i just fell in love w her.. . im used to dump all my rubbish inside e box and i just wanna know w riding a harley am i able to display that rugged look yet and e same time dump my raincoats, gloves, helmet in e box? how u all guys did it? when it rains how? do u all wear raincoats while riding a harley? havent seen a harley before when it rains while riding on highway. pardon for my noob questions. cant wait to join e harley gang..

we try not to ride in the rain unless necessary, do note that most hd owned are either weekend or 2nd or 3rd bike sitting in the garage or owner has other form of transport so we look at good weather then ride lor...

dun like to ride in the rain purposely, so usually either after rain or not at all.

i never had any boxes on my old sportster or my current dyna. when it rains, i juz sucked it up and ride. esp when riding up north, no point to put on rain coat as by then i will be wet. and also being drenched in one zone, will very fast dry one in another hot zone.

 

anyway, to have boxes or not. its up to the individual. like wat kind of theme u want for the bike. like do u want a touring look, a pro-street look, a bobber or chopper look?

 

also if u feel funtionality is more practical, then juz dun bother abt wat ppl say, put a top box for ur nightster, u could make it ur own ultra nightster classic. haha.

 

there is one nightster that is always park in the multi-storey carpark in the mosque in orchard. it has 2 orginal harley hard saddle bags that is mounted wif brackets onto the sides. maybe that willl give u some ideas on how a nightster wif bags will look.

oic.. wah means i cant sell off my s4 to concentrate on my harley.. quite siong to have 2 bikes.. i just like e outlook of e harley cos been contemplating on a chopper bike since learning 2B but din get any cruiser bikes cos i always believed harleys are e bext class 2 chopper bikes arnd.. just gotten my class 2 so really wanna own a harley cos its got e character..

it not a rule but most hd owners has other main means for daily transport or rides but it your ride and you dictate how you want to use it and not be a slave to your ride

IMO, unless the top box is designed as a part of the bike, having a top box on any hd doesnt look cool...no offences to anyone ya

I only have 1 bike, a 2003 Sportster 1200S. Its my daily ride.

I'm going to be brutally honest to say that ANY top box on a Sportster will just totally kill the look, a laughing-stock even.

 

Then again, nobody's opinion (including mine) matters except your own.

Edward, although beauty is in the eye of the beholder but i think there are certain universal truism and it is certainly true that a box does not fit on the back of a sportster...

 

Below this thread is a thread on saddle bags. I think a saddle bag would fit better although i dun know if there is such a thing as a lockable leather saddle bag. I'll also be looking for one soon...probably will just put on one side of the sportser, opp the exhaust side...need to put street directory
