Mr Throttle, saw your 883 on the other thread. Nice. You must be a Matt finishing person. On the other hand, i'm more of a chrome person. Fat Bob price tag also not within my reach..... :pity:

I'm quite fixated on the Low Rider now, just a bit disappointed with the gear shifts & brakes, if only they are a few inches more forward.... and don't quite like the rear fender. Would prefer something like that of the Wide Glide, duck tailed type.

Yesterday whilst riding, i got that feeling i haven't felt for a long time, 11 years to be exact. I was the last bike to leave the dealership after collecting my bike from servicing. Hit the ECP around 6pm with a massive jam, just when i passed the marine parade exit, it happened.... it just poured down on me like a mini tsunami.... when i reached home, shoes / underwear all wet.... Wow! What a feeling.... after 11 years.... :D

Hi Throttle,

Ya, got her for barely a month already. Now is getting to know her better period.... one thing i found out, she doesn't like cornering low (compromising positions) and U-Turns.... she is nice when taken slowly.... a great bike for slow rides. :)

Was caught in the rain on Friday night, washed my bike on Saturday and today i rode the bike and there is a sheng..sheng..sheng.... sound coming from the back. I guess it's becos of the water going into the belt rite, from the previous threads posted. How do i get rid of the sound? I can hear it only on slow speed. Anybody, thanks.

Hope it goes off after some distance. Hey throttle, one more thing, do you know after you screw up a nut and a bolt, there is this chrome cover that you can screw on top of both of em to cover it up. I hope you know what i'm talking about. Do you know where i can find that chrome cover thingy other than at the dealership. Mine kinda got lost, one of em.

Hmmm..... i actually have two, on the right side of the bike but one of it is missing..... i just got my bike serviced and i reckon maybe the mechanic forgotten to screw it back in. But damn troublesome to drive all the way back to look for a screw cap. Sigh......

It's likely that they missed it.

However, it's hard to prove that they missed it

Go back and ask anyway. It could be left there in a corner.

Otherwise get a new pair with a diff design so you wont feel too bad about losing one.

hope to see you on the roads

cheers

the sound from the back is most probably from the disc brake. It tends to rust a bit when caught in the rain. It will go off when you applied your rear brake after a while.

Ya, i guess that's what i'm gonna do. Call them and ask if there's one lying around in the workshop. If not, have to buy one. But i think i comes in a set of 2's or 4's and i heard not cheap for something so small. But the bike doesn't look good without all these details undone. That's just me. Sigh.....

You try pumping the brakes to clear the water? Happened to my ex sporty before. And I think I mentioned it too, apparently the brake reservoir thingy is below the bike under the frame and it's harder for the water to clear. I actually brought this prob to my mech and he just reached below and poked it and all the water came out. lol

Ok, i will try to use the rear brakes more often to pump the water out. In any case, where do i poke for the brake reservoir thingy? Can be a little more precise. Thanks.

sorry but, my common knowledge about bikes tell me that it has got nothing to do with brake fluid reservoir being under somewhere.

if it is truly the brake disc, the heat of the plates braking would have dried it up in a few seconds. water do not get trap in between the pads and disc.

brake dust is unlikely the cause becos it will screech and not "sheng".

although i have never experience this before for any of my bikes, i have experienced it for my previous car. "sheng sheng" sound.

the faster you go the faster the sound, right?

This is a clear problem for Harleys which (like it or not) are not as "perfect" as Japs / germans in terms of engineering, in my opinion. I believe the water got in there and partly "displaced" some lubricant so somewhere in the axle is rubbing.

You best bet could be to oil the axle area with a suitable lubricant.

I'm fairly confident that would solve the problem base on the information you have provided regarding this problem.

Good luck

Guys, i'm quite confused now.... i've got some WD40, but where do i spary? I'm game to meet up during the weekends.... maybe at dealership cos i need to go there to ask about my chrome caps which are missing. Anywhere else is fine too. But this Sat, got to run some errands first and send my car for inspection.... may have a game of shooting too....

I dunno ah. I just repeating what I saw and what my mech told me. And true enough after that it was ok.

Actually the main thing I went to check wasn't the sound but to ask why the rear brakes weren't so effective.

Sorry I can't tell u where it is, dun have a sportster anymore to check. hahaha
