once mentioned in 2005, when yamaha present rossi with a 2005 M1 for winning the 11 wins in premier class and securing constructors title, the article stated the bike cost US$2mil

I believe the teams leased the bikes for US$500,000 including 1 engineer for a season. Read it somewhere many years back.

20 years of riding:-

Bikes:

1986 - Yamaha RX100

1987 - Yamaha LC125

1988 - Yamaha LC350

1989 - Yamaha FZ400

1991 - Yamaha FZ750

1995 - Suzuki GSXR750

1997 - Kawasaki ZXR750K2 (race bike)

2002 - Yamaha FZR1000

2003 - Honda VFR800Fi

What's next?

Cars:

1996 - Nissan 100FA

1997 - Hyundai Elantra

1998 - Honda Civic

2001 - Toyota Corona

2002 - Renault Scenic

2004 - Toyota Picnic

Wrong. Its PRICELESS. MotoGP works machines like the M1, RCV212, GP07, GSVR etc are not for sale. No amount of money can net you one of the works machine.

As for those 'Customer' machines, they (purportingly) cost around US$1mil +++ a year just to LEASE it. The team will have to accessed for eligibility. Faster riders get better graded machines. They get more up to date parts/ setups.. The slower riders get a year or two-old machines.

After the lease is up, ALL machines are to be returned to the factory to be crushed. Only a select few will be kept and stored in the museum.

However, once a while, some parts land up on the streets.. IE Roling Chassis etc.. Never engines.

$75k can hardly get you even any decent SBK specs machines. The engine alone costs $40k USD up. Throw in some decent works grade suspension, handling, chasis etc in, I think you're looking upwards of $100+++K for a decent SBK bike.

2pence. Feel free to correct. ;-p

Think this might help. Found it somewhere in motorcyclenews.com

"the current 250GP class, where lease costs for a factory Aprilia can be over one million Euros.

That is only around 500,000 Euros short of what it costs to lease a Honda RC212V in MotoGP, MCN understands."

u mean a replica of wat Stoner is riding?

The replica of MotoGP 990cc machine of Ducati in 2006. Code named GP06. 200bhp machine bog stock. Throw in the factory supplied race exhaust, will liberate another 20bhp.

On a side note, the works 990cc GP06 is about 250- 260bhp.
