Wah kao 4k! You could've have bought 2 bikes with that kinda cash.

Insurance is bloody expensive when you're young. My TPFT(20 yrs old) for my used CBR 150 when I bought it was about $1k. Shocking. Tried to keep a straight face when the motodiam uncle told that to me.

Current Rides:

FEB 07 -> NOV 08 [CBR 150]

AUG 08 -> AUG 12 [XJR400]

AUG 12 -> ??? [DUCATI MONSTER 696]

My age is 24.. still that ex.. NTUC said, if you never fully pay your bike, the person who give you loan will insist you take the comprehensive one.. that's why he say $4K but you can still go direct to NTUC to get the 3rd party one, they will give you the $1300++ one.. But they will have to do the calcs, etc etc.. Subject to the person serving you and the bike model - i think...

2nd hand much cheaper la the insurance.. My car insurance also not that ex.. my god..

:faint: so ex.

Insurance rates will drop quite a lot when you've passed the 1 year p-plate probation but I don't think most 2B graduates will want to hold off getting a bike for that long :lol:

i still cant figure why kr insurance so high..

its kawasaki insur.. nt krr..

mainly it's because it has the highest rate of accidents, the higher the accident rates, the higher the premium. it's that simple. hahaha!

I see no point why 4k insurance for a 2b bike. Not say this bike is antique or limited edition.

Most cars insurance is not even close to 4k, unless you are driving luxury cars.

For say 5 yrs you pay insurance of 3k for bike, it's already 15k. A brand new KR cost more than 15k meh? Not even close...

Penalising a new rider who has yet been claimed (or rather, not even started riding, is unfair...

I sympathise with you youngsters la...

I still suggest new riders to get a 2nd hand bike of say ard 3yrs or so...

After gaining about 2 yrs experience on the road, then get a brand new bike if you wish.

Remember, being able to pay 8k for a brand new ride is one thing, and being able to live with losing 4k or more (as it ages) is another. :)

I asked NTUC to quote me a price for KR150 for a newly passed 2B license holder. The difference between brand new (not fully paid), brand new (fully paid) and second hand... my goodness almost fainted...

If you buy brand new bike by installment, the bank/company which are giving you loan will insist you to get a comprehensive insurance which for KR will cost about $4257.28/annum.. If it's a brand new fully paid, 3rd party is about $1305.05, whereas for a second hand bike, is $837.69...

4k for insurance? dats ridiculious.furthermore theres no more brand new KR i think so the de person u spoke to at ntuc could be wrong.when i first got my aprilia rs125 brand new at age 23,my insurance was 1.7k tpft thru NTUC..so its kinda hard to believe 4k for an insurance :faint:

interested to know if a 2b license holder's name can be put in the insurance of a 2a bike as a sub rider or non rider until 2a license is obtained?

owner and main rider will be a valid 2a license holder..

objective: save the admin fees when sub rider gets 2a license.

Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.

Hi guys, ntuc quoted me 600+ for 3rd party also. Im guessing its all around there for ntuc?

Factors which i think affects the price:

age of bike-

i told the guy insurance was for vespa. it seems age of the bike doesnt matter (80's and 90's make no difference) a new bike's insurance would be more expensive though. (i think better engines, easier to bang people?)

experience in riding-

doesnt matter if your 18,19,20, they calculate more using the experience in riding. They calculate from the date u got your licence. So whoever suggested riding 2nd hand bike for a few years first before changing to dream bike, good call there. Thats what i plan to do.

Additional info, for 3rdparty + fire and theft, mah motors quoted me only 1.5k. Even that amount already prompted me not to buy new bike so soon.
