Hi guys, i just got my new Jazz on 4/7/08(fri) and this is my 1st car. When i gt my car, its was half tank so i went 2 top up my fuel tank full and was driving at 15km/l. On the following monday, my fuel tank reading had drop to half so i went to top up full again. But these 3 days, my fuel comsumption rate had drop from 15km/l to 12km/l.

Does anyone know the explaination?

Does the quality of fuel u use makes a difference in fuel comsumption?

As im a new driver, i welcome all driving advises from you guys =)

THANKS

When i used to drive the Jazz, i note that the FC is much better for long distance driving. But if you are making alot of short trips then the FC willprob be weaker.

Plus, if you like to floor your accelerator for the quick pick-up then it will consume more fuel too.

But I used to be able to get about 500-550km on full tank. My personal best was 700km on full tank.

You got your FC from the indicator on the dashboard? My friend who drives a swift says, its not accurate. But here is what im doing currently:-

I got mine on 7th July 2008. When I got my Jazz, it was with only 1/4 tank. I didnt top up immediatly as I was unsure what fuel was used and is hard to calculate the FC as I frequent Caltex. Instead, I top up 20bucks Shell 98 (As I have a shell voucher) Didnt care much about the voucher, just drive ard and waste petrol (Cos i wanted to clear the tank for my first full tank) as well as clock mileage for running in.

After few days of driving, the reserve light came on and thus can pump my usual petrol. I went to top up full tank Caltex 95 with FP 60. So... that was my 1st full tank. Now after about 300km, its still left with slightly more than half tank (probably reason being im runnning in, driving not more than 95 or so, and control my right foot alot without reaching more than 2 RPM). Think it should be able to reach 600. So on a Jazz (42 litres of full tank) the FC could be 14L-15L in my case.

Anyway, it would be more accurate once the running in process is over and calculate base on your usual driving habits . Also take readings from several full tanks to get an average FC for it.

BTW, ppl say guys are more heavy footed than ladies

13km/l to 14km/l...........2006 Jazz

Are u all talking about the same model of Jazz in the first place?

Steps to do a proper KNNBCCB with middle finger.

1. Bow down slightly, looking intensely at objective

2. Like a raging bull, hop and jog slowly towards objective

3. Take your left palm and slap it hard on the right mid-arm with a SLAP!

4. With charisma, raise right arm, whilst showing middle finger (with left palm trapped in bend right arm)

5. Shout! KNNBCCB

It's runnning in.. FC normally is higher..

Oh is it?

I tot when a car is running in, Fuel Consumption is lower...

How come it's the other way round?

it seems more likely that u might travel in jammed situations tat might cause a drop in FC.

During the period of running in, it is meaningless to calculate FC because your are driving it like a whim unless you intend to drive like that all the time :D

Is the TS's Jazz the new 1.5l one?

The new 1.5l is the 09 model which I think have not hit the roads yet. But should be real soon. It does look very nice esp with the skyroof when I went to Kah Moto a few days back.

during run in, fc is not accurate. jazz needs min ron 91. ron 92 is fine with it. the lower the ron, the better the mileage.

the new jazz will not be otr till end of the yr. the new jazz is a better car than the new fit.

in sg, sound fast look fast is enough. run fast fine fast die fast.
