i have a que for pract 8 too.. someone pls help... we were told that we cant bypass vehicles parked on the left lane , we are supposed to filter right, then back into the left lane. so for the stretch of ubi route with busstops, where we are supposed to keep left, we see a car parked in front, we have to filter right, then back left again..

 

what if, the right lane is busy with many cars moving, what shld i do ? 1: STOP at the left lane near the right lane , signal still showing right and wait for the right lane to clear then filter right? or 2: change signal to the left, PARK behind the parked car on the left lane, till right lane clear, then signal right, filter.

 

for 1 : seems like hogging left lane and may get horned fr behind?? for 2 : cant possibly keep parking behind cars on the left lane whenever i wanna filter into a busy right lane??

 

pls, someone help... thanks in advance..

for plank, when u are entering the q, there is a bend, check right before u reach the bend, then q, check right with every move in the q, when its ur turn, check right before proceeding onto the plank.

 

need not check right blindspot before entering the queue, you should check left instead as you are signaling left to go into the queue.

 

rule of thumb: you turn/signal where, you check where for blindspot. no signal, default check back. :)

you are not supposed to 'share' the lane with other vehicles.. hence you have to lane-change and overtake it.

 

for the stretch before and after the u-turn, you have to observe the traffic far ahead..

 

when you do your first controlled right-turn at the junction, you will be turning into the right lane. remember to filter back to left lane after turning, IF you see that the road in front is clear w/o any cars stopping by the roadside. throttle up to 60kmh while you are between the bus-stops.

 

when you are about to reach the 2nd bus-stop, slow down(close throttle) and prepare to lane change to the right and into the deceleration lane for u-turn.

 

you really have to observe the traffic and make decisions as to whether to stick to left or right lane.

 

but during TP day itself, testers/instructors will clear the whole stretch of roads prior to the test. meaning no parked cars.

when we are stopping, are we supposed to 1) change to gear 1 then release clutch, continue braking, before engine stalls then clutch in or 2) change gear and hold clutch, continue braking until bike stops? or 3) depending on speed, if fast do (1), if slow use (2).

what did school teach you?

 

practical riding is only applicable AFTER you get your 2b and riding on the road w/o instructors covering your backside..

 

anything before that, follow what the school teaches you.

 

and for that, it will be: close throttle(engine brake), hold your brakes, and clutch in just before you stop.

 

clutching in and letting your bike 'roll/coast' will incur demerit points.

guys im waiting for my IE on the 26 april....is the questions similar or harder than RTT??

 

just make full use of all ur etrial. make sure save some for RTT also. u try all and pass de 10 etrial paper, can pass IE or RTT one. standard all about the same

I cleared prac8 last weekend. Booked for TP test on monday and guest what!

 

The TP for class 2B is on 10 June!!! very long waiting time! for me this is nonsence. Come ooon S'pore traffic police u can do better than this...

anw, just a question, during u-turn, if u are first bike. after check left then right and u move off but there's incoming vehincle so u must stop just slightly ahead of the white line.

then if move off again is check which direction? i think it is right. am i correct? thanks in advance.

check right. cause you are not beside the kerb anymore.

 

you should be in between the 2 line lines.. and since you will be 'hogging' the whole lane to yourself, and to prevent other cars from squeezing their way in, try to position yourself abit further away from the kerb, say 3/4. but not until as if you are position yourself in a 2 row formation.

 

it will give you more clearance to do u-turn and 'protect' your line.:)

Hey guys Im currently on Prac3 now. Wah lao last week my first time do figure 8 I fall down when turning sia. Embarassing siol. Hard sia.

 

I like always kancheong when wanna go in and quickly go to 2nd gear coz my mind focusing on the bend.

 

Any advice?

@ Zakaria. Relax. Dont kanchiong. Whenn you cross the line, change up to second gear. Then off signal. Its much easier than the other way round. Maintain speed, brake maintain. Using rear brake. Dont look down, cos you'll end up on the floor. look at where you're going. If you still not confident, i suggest going at a slower speed first. But not too slow until your engine stall. :D

Yea like what shadowluva said.. Don't look down, just look at where you wanna go and maintain your throttle.
