Life span for Engine oil?

Lets say I changed Fully syn engine oil and it can last for 5000km. But I seldom ride the bike and the engine oil passed 3mths but yet to hit 5000km. So its okay to hit 5000km then change or when it reach 3mths i haf to change?

 

So if overshot the 3mths i still still using it will anything happen??

Basically its good practise that you change the oil when it is more then 3 months old dispite clocking very little mileage.

 

Low usuage usually end up with condensation within the tranny. Trace of water vapour can cause acid build up in the engine oil.

 

Then again, really its your call.

It's only engine oil.. Costs only $10+.. I'd say best to change it..

I understand its best to change it. But sometimes really too busy to go bikeshop to haf it change as am working during weekend too. Then sometimes if go at afternoon the que at the workshop its like veri long, so abit lazy to go. haha.. anyway thanks for the info..

some times i heard my fren say 3000km can change liao... but i heard from many experience rider all say FULLY SYN can last even for 10000km.. but i change when reaching 5000km....

 

anyway i just change recently, i have been riding for 3 mnths.. and its true that wat il4 say.. i found water trace inside my oil when i release it out.. izite becos of the raining season ? anyway this whole year keeps on raining... haiz sian..

It's only engine oil.. Costs only $10+.. I'd say best to change it..

 

$10+? tat have to depend on which type of engine oil u use. normal fully-syn easily cost $20 and above.

Used semi syn oil.......$10-12 every 2000km change oil....

My small bike even better....Every 500-800km change oil...

Cos I top once a month only...Never really used it..

Clocked 3000km on it changed at least 5 times..

Never really used fully syn oil...

Till now all my engines silky smooth..

6 months no problem, i use remaining car oil for my bike for 4 years already no problem and i use the cheapest like total or carlube no big deal, i change according to mil have drag for 8 months before everything still ok. Its just a thing hack it.

ugh. please dont treat synthetic oils as a magical oil that can last twice as long as semi-synthetic and mineral oils.

 

they both get expended at around the same time.

 

if you change every 5k using semi synthetic, then change every 5k as well if you are using synthetic.

 

god knows how much eo is left after 10k. do they even check the eo level once in a while?

 

10k. good grief, just how much EO is left in the crank case anyway after some EO gets burnt?

 

just because synthetic oils cost twice as much as semi synthetic oils doesnt mean that it will last twice as long.

try to fix 3k km or within 6 months for eo. for the benefit of yourself and to others who buy your bike.
