i have the manual with me and the bulb rating is all correct, i can only attribute it to my habit of always on the brakes when i stop, even if i on level ground, so the bulb is always on.....longer burn time.

 

anyways, got the foot pegs replaced on my bike as the old ones is flimsy and spring broke already. Next thing i gonna change is the shifter skin as my fabric one broke. rubber should last longer.

 

bike is still turning heads on the road till these days. people just don't bellieve a 15 year old bike can look this good.

yeah. for some reason, the rear brake light on my impulse burn out quite oftne. about 6 months once.

.

 

suspect it could be due to rain water leaking into the wiring via the seat.

unlikely. seat is covered with new material, and not exposed to rain. covered when parking all the time.

Thanks so much for the info. havent really had time to poke around on the site yet, but Im working today so Im sure to be on it. Been beautiful the past couple of days and Im really itching to get her dialed in for the new riding season. New tires, chain and sprockets, oil change and she'll be ready to roll. Been having the same issue with my tail light as everyone else here. Hope to maybe post some pics next week after I get her out and cleaned up.

Yes maybe CSV is using a smaller rating bulb? Or another probable reason is that maybe one resistor or diode is faulty in the alternator causing unstable voltage? I think the brake light which keep alternating between filaments is the first to go.

 

CSV your bike got voltmeter?

What is the voltage when idling? No throttle. Or just after starting when fan not on?

about 11.6v. 11.8 without fan.

fc for my bike is now 27km/l. too good already.......but avg is about 24km/l. pretty good. but can be better with a smaller rear sprocket. i expect 25-26km/.

great improvement from 18km/l to 27km/l

 

18km/l was because tuning was wrong. after your help, it went back to 24km/l.

 

this 27km/l is once in a blue moon thing. average is still around 24km/l. better than s4 so cannot complain!

first time bike had a flat battery.

 

finish work and came back to a dead bike. no lights, no nothing.

 

checked the fuse, none of them was blown.

 

tried push starting and even though i had no slope to work with, i managed to push it fast enough to get it started back.

 

good things of riding a clutch bike. went to Planet, traced it to an old battery. changed the new one and hopefully, no more dead batts.

make sure ur bike is charging properly. charging system nt working end up u just keep changing batteries.

yeap, rectifier is charging the bike as per normal. probably the old and abused battery.

fuel consumption getting better....due to 2t?

 

25km/l average now. with the larger 48 sprocket. would be 26-27km if on 45 i expect. nice.

waxed and washed the bike. Managed to polished off the pitting on the aluminium forks.

 

thought i needed a dremel to get it off but nope! Scotchbrite and sandpaper plus alot of elbow grease took it down.

 

forks now have a brushed aluminium look. IS GOOD! looking for something to protect it or maybe spray black.

 

also changed the radiator grill back to black. the Punisher skull on the bike looks abit out of character and kiddish.

 

so now the bike looks stock standard with some "small" changes here and there.

note to owners.

 

the stock tokico brake pads for the impulse is good. almost too good. ever since i changed to the tokico brake pads, and i step on the rear brake abit more, it will tend to fishtail like phantom. not cheap too, 50 bucks. performance at a price.

 

when i was using SBS, it was fine.

 

front can use any brand that is reliable. SBS, EBC etc.
