Hey Bros!

Ive just passed my TP for 2b license 3 days ago! So excited to get a bike! Looking for a reliable bike, good fuel consumption with at least 4 yrs coe left. However, got a budget of $3000 otr (im 19yrs old btw) and the money will only come in Jan 09. Got a few bikes in mind but wondering with my budget, will I be able to buy it?

Choices of bikes (1 being the most I want)

1: Phantom TA200

2: Dealim Roadwin

3: Any mortad lking bike

4: Dealim Daystar

5: Pulsar 200

6: Any vespa

So all those experience riders out there do help me out pls??? Help me choose which one i should consider buying? Wld gladly buy from any seller on sbf if bike and price is good!

hi there bro. congrats on ur license. 1st, daelim is a new bike. so its gonan be expensive. ur 3k can be ur downpayment, but cant pay fully. think if u want cheap, u can either choose phantom or pulsar. good 4 stroke bike with good fc. pulsar have a better fuel consumption then phantom. if between these 2, u want to choose a 'harley' look, go for phantom. there is many things u can do to phantom to make it look nice. if u want those naked type, go for pulsar. ride safely. :cheeky:

If u ever go for vespa why not consider a second hand bike like X9 or gilera runner.. its a good bike for relax riding expecially such traffic light in sing.. Save lots of effort and energy.. FC is low.. great bikes. Cheers and all the best..

yup totally agree with pop but for phantom u must play well with weight during wet season cause some rider tend to ski off cause they forgotten about the rear weight other then that i believe phantom is 1 of the best choice as it is 1 of the cheapest in maintenence  . As for Pulsar its a best FC in 2B ba but i do heard spare is abit ex, but do ask urself wat kind of style u prefer and from there mayb u already got an ideal of wat u 1?

Phantom is probably the best choice in your case.

I was in the same situation as you last year.

A good TA200 is easily available around $2,000-$2,500.

An older one with higher milage will be much cheaper, especially if the COE is expiring in 2009. There was even 1 selling at less than $1,000 in the forum recently.

Add in $500 for transfer fee, insurance, season parking and maintenance.

Should be just nice for the first month.

Just be more cautious when you ride a Phantom.

It's handling is very very different from the school's sports bike.

Can't say much for the other bikes, because I have never rode them, but can tell you a good Vespa, pulsar or Dealim is very very hard to come by with only $3,000.

You can get an old one for $1,000 or so, but you will have to put in alot more money later to maintain and replace old parts.

So it's up to you.

Motorcyclist are the nicest people on the road, try not to kill us.

best fuel comsumption would be pulsar :D

otr for fba plate pulsar you should be able to source b/w $2300 to $3000.

however don't forget u need to fork out extra for insurance.

if really tight on budget then go for phantom.. its the cheapest of the lot. but still looks cool and has good power.. get the 200 at least pls :D

With those factors, a motard is definitely out. There are no motards for 2B...yet. Its around 3k for an old scrambler, another 1k plus to convert it to motard...and thats illegal.

Add in another 700odd for a P plater insurance. Rough estimate on the road should cost around 5k plus.

And if u get a 2 stroke WR200, the fc is quite bad.

TA200 is scary. I skid almost on a daily basis. I skid when i jam brakes, skid if i take a corner too hard, and a few times, skid due to engine brake. The rear is just too heavy. Also, the vibrations on it makes me go numb. But thats just me. But yea, its got good fc and suits ur budget. But yea, moonsoon season here, so ride safe.

And congrats to the license!

Hi. im a new rider on Daelim Daystar. FS plate. got it for 1.8k on wednesday. plus saddle bags, crashbar, backrest, new wet tire. its about 2.3k in total. Plus my insurance, transfer fee,Inspection, 1 yr roadtax cost about another $500. Go slow when approaching bend. cos its got WIDE turning. kinda scary though... i used to ride CBR150R, so slim and easy to squeeze traffic. I think now not so easy already...not so skillful yet...lol anyway. hope u can get your right bike.

Pray for "P-A-S-S" before every ride. Patience, Alertness, Skillfulness, Safe journey.

i riding phantom now hmm phantom is good and easy bike to maintain i must say however the rear wheel is quite dangerous if dunno how to handle well so far i nv skid before but i got fishtail a number of time but got it control back.phews~~ it will skid quite often on wet surface and even straight road when u passby those metal strip cover during raining. so if u wan get phantom ride extra carefully in raining or wet road.

my maintaining is 1 bottle of 4T and 1 spark plug per month

anyway i riding phantom for 2-3 month only previous bike is sp

the speed of phantom is quite sufficient for sg road already haha :cheeky:

Phantom reliable bike, parts easy to get and cheap. But no fuel gauge and tachometer. Heard well known for skidding.
