I've experience a mild tank slap on my busa after my front tyre kena oil spill. Scared the hell out of me...Tank slapping can occur any ANY speed. Do google throughly but most often at high speed. I would like to reiterate... I GUESSED the tank slapping and high side based on my observations. No conclusion whatsoever...V-storm is a very good allrounder that I'd love to own one if I have the means here in Malaysia.

hi fellow Bro

The onli person who know for sure what actual happen had pass away , what we can only do is guess.

what was know He was doing all the right things before the day before the event except the part where the he missed the usual prayer bfore every journey that the mother will do for him.

The group including him was not speeding. the distance from esso to incident site is abt 560km they started at 4am and the acccident at 10am , 6 hours. which was the norm.

his bike is still quite new and well taken care of , so new it still have the stock tire with him.

the weather is fine for bikers. what was so sad is why he had to travel 560km just to hit the sign post. the probility is staggering.

The v-strom is a tough bike, how can some low speed side impact cause it to crack the fork up just like that.

All this quries we will have to keep until the day we will meet again a better place.

Life sux..Take control ..and live it and pick yourselves up now.. die later

if the roads end ....i go off road

Mine is H&B. H&B rack can only accept H&B panniers. Same thing for Givi. The quik lock feature on SW motech and current model of H&B allows the user to remove the rack easily. The original version is all bolted together using bolts and nuts so it is secure for sure.

Refer to the video for a demo & be prepared to be poisoned.

Bros, thanks for explaination. Oh u wanna dekit yr side rack, so yours is H&B side rack too? Cos i am looking for givi side box, can it fix for givi box if it is a H&B? I dont quite understand e (not the quik lock type) but is it still secure and security right??.

Tank slap....I have checked on Advrider websites and many riders in Europe are also trying to rectify tankslap problem on Vstrom particularly.. because Vstorm is really powerful and light.

I was told there are 3 things involved in this, Tyre + Speed + brake.

If a very powerful and light bike has to brake suddenly, it will wobble (tankslap) especially if the bike's CG is high....and if the tyre is not good enuff... it will be very dangerous...

Some riders in Europe has mentioned that changing to a pair of good tyre will solve tankslap on Vstrom....

Personally, I know a guy who bought a Vstrom and met with an accident in just 2 weeks, and he told me the bike has alot of power and sudden braking is an issue....he sold the bike one week later....

Ride safe... I have one friend who proves to me riding Vstrom is not an easy task and many who experienced the risk and live to warn me about it... so I have decided not to learn the hard way by experiencing it myself...

Yeah heard lots of tankslapping too... btw Im no experience rider.. fact Vstrom is my first class2 ride... trust me if u ask me to push, to lift the bike to mainstand, Damn i have a big problem heehhe...

But once i twist that throttle... damn... I have never feel so good on a bike before... controlling was superb... despite it heavy and big look compare to my small timid little size body... i cant believe i could handle this machine well...

BUT this Strom aint a fast machine if u were to compare to other same cc machine... trying riding 200+KM/h on a strom and u will understand what i mean...

Anyway u wont believe me cause im not ur friend hehe...

but to all rider of all ride.... every bike have it limit... ride not only at the bike limit... but AT UR OWN LIMIT... Lower ur ego and ride safe!...

Cheers..

That i agree khai. Two thumbs up khai. Ego is sumthing we need to curb personally. Its not really bout the bike rather its the rider. Confidence n over confidence has a very thin line separating the two 

Personally for me im no experience rider. The fact that i rode a vespa for 7 years plus before switching to my current wee makes me a noob. Watever it is as far as my disability concern, krkrkr im slowly gainin the confidence riding the beast. So guess everyday is a learning experience. So hopefully with time hopefully we all get to go on a long ride together n share the experience gain so as we knw the do s n dont s when riding the beast. Kkrkrkr anyone planning for a long ride dont forget to ask me along. If my schedule permits ill tag along 

Hello Strommers,

I would like to share with u all, my experience on riding a cbr 929 and vstorm 650. It was really a big difference for me when i am riding the vstorm. The riding posture, cornering and braking are totally different. Vstorm really got a gd power comparable to my cbr 929 but the handling are totally different.

Last year when i took over my vstorm 650 for abt a month, i met an accident due to a sudden brake by a taxis uncle @ the expressway. Immediately, like wat everyone will do is to e-brake if cant avoid the cab. @ the moment when i do my e-brake, i felt unable to control the bike causing to jam brake and evetually i bang into the cab rear and side door with a long scratch. Luckily i was only hving a minor injury and some blue black on my right hip. If this happened to my cbr 929 with the low position of bike, i believe i can control better with the e-braking.

Another impt things to share is that a vstorm definitely must the crash bar and the hand guard, it can really take in the impact when e bike fall and of course lessen the repair fee. Is a worth money to spend. Last thing is to be familiar with the vstrom slowly and oso ride @ your own limits, must remember that you riding an adventure tourer and not a sport bike.

My condolences to lolli's family.

Ride safe to all Strommers.

To be humble is to be safe. The bike is not a problem , its the rider . With technologies comes a safer machine but that doesn't mean you should ride recklessly.

Every equipments/machines in this world have their limits. You go over the limits and of course unfortunately some mishap happens. Learn their limits and be confidence with it. But over confidence is a dangerous weapon as well.

You won't understand it until you ride the v strom. To hear from others And to ride any machine/equipment is totally TWO different experience.

How many riders have actually rode a vespa/manual scooter? So is it a dangerous machine? No. It is simply most new riders take bike for granted and think it's character is the same as normal bike, resulting in accident.

So to conclude: Be humble, ride within your limits, know the machine, and have a little prayer before riding.

My Wee.... My Journey.... My Adventure....

Tank-slap when braking hard? I would love to believe that too.

Experience is subjective. Can be 3-wks experience like your friend, or many many years experience like few friends of mine who is currently still riding a V-Strom. They have nvr claimed V-Strom to have alot of power. But the way they handled their bikes up Genting, Cameron and other highlands seems as if they added additional horsepowers onto it.

~100hp on ~200kg bike is nowhere near powerful. Let's not forget the sportsbikes sporting 170hp on 170kg.

Ride safe. Cheers.

Hi newly-wed,

Can i "like" these 2 statements?

Hi ABS Wee owners, anyone installed handlebar risers? Did you install a longer brake hose (top line)? Share your experiences ok? I'm planning to get an extended Galfer brake hose from SV racing parts. Anyone have experience with them? I have a set of bar risers lying around the house for some time and like to install it.

No point organising MO as well because shipping cost doubles for every set purchased. So buy at your own leisure time.
