Hi, i am using Garmin zumo 500 with Cardo Scala Teamset. Works fabulously well. As it has noise cancellation capability, the headset volume pumps up automatically when the incoming wind is strong. Lower when its not. I am able to use my headset and talk to my wife (pillion) too. She helps to look out for danger and any point of interest. I must say it had help me to focus on my riding entirely. I need not keep looking at the gps for directional instruction as cardo scala is connected to it wirelessly.

Go for it, man. You would not regret it.

I am just curious. Do we actually need the gps to tell us where to turn? It sounds like we are all on a tight schedule like delivery guys.

If I am on a holiday I just switch on my gps for tracking purposes and will most likely only input the hotel as POI. After which I will just wonder around be it in the city or outskirt, part of my sight seeing and when its time to go back to the hotel, i just use the GOTO function and display the large pointer as a general reference on the location of the hotel.

In this way I will be sure that I can reach my hotel and at the same keep my eyes on the road to look out for traffic and also more sight seeing. I may make a few more turns but its part and parcel of free and easy touring and u never know what u might encounter during those "lost" moment.

Thus to me POI is more important.

Which also explain why I kept my GPS 3 plus for so long and only recently I upgrade to eTrex Legend H only.

I initially thought of plonking my $ on a 550, but decided against it and rode 1600++km in West Msia without a GPS.

I had alot of fun. Thanks to not having a GPS.

Dude, its every individual preferences. While it seems to you that there are people in this world who needed to be told where to turn by a GPS etc. Others see GPS otherwise.

Some motorist like to have their vehicles fuel pumped in malaysia every week or even at every possible chance and subjected to unneccessary risk of getting robbed/mugged. Even vehicles break down in foreign land. There are motorist who does not even stepped into malaysia to have their vehicles refuel.

Anyway in order for you to go to a specific POI, does GPS 3 plus and 3trex legend H show you where to turn? If it does and you followed. Werent you part of those who had to be told where to turn? True enough, you could have purposely refused to turn and take other direction. But eventually you still need to use your GPS 3 plus and 3trex legend H, isn it? Because you DID USE YOUR GPS TO TRACK A LOCATION

Good for you. ^_^ another adventurous biker/driver.

When you are lost or left stranded with a broken down bike on the middle of A nameless ROAD in a foreign land with your loved one. Thanks to having a GPS. At least it helps to tell people your location.

Thats the purposes of GPS. GPS is an equipment that is design to save people life. As a rider/driver, we are responsible for our pillion and other road users safety. Any one can drive a vehicle out into a foreign land and ventured. Whatever we do outside, at the end of the day, family just want to see us back safe and sound. IN ONE PIECE

From a seafarer's point of view, it's almost a lost skill to able to navigate without GPS but why deny yourself of a wonderful invention which makes your life more certain especially since GPS technology has become so reliable and affordable, even for hobbyists.

However, having said that, we must also try to pick up some basic skills in map reading because any technology, no matter how reliable, it can fail.

Maps do not have any single point of failure like GPS, such as battery flat, or cannot acquire signals under the heavy forest canopy, so you can entrust your life to a piece of paper but never an electronic gadget.

I dont follow as per say, just monitor the general direction where I shoudl be heading. I prefer to look at road signs. GPS is just a second confirmation that I am going in the right direction.

Nah, whatever it is. Everyone has the point of view. We can argue and debate till the end of time. Certain fact still stands

1. Its a fact you owned, used a GPS.

2. If you have trusted your own navigation skill, you do not need to purchase a GPS and upgrade to another one later.

3. Since you prefer to at road signs and it seems that you do not need a GPS to tell you so. Why needed a GPS for second confirmation? As stated in your last post, well just turn and go and get lost. If its wrong, turn again and go till you see that sign board.

4. Lastly the thread says GPS device on bikes. Why do you come in and start to trash the product that you used?

5. Singapore Bike forum is about sharing knowledge. Are you sharing yours constructively? By saying "Do we actually need the gps to tell us where to turn? It sounds like we are all on a tight schedule like delivery guys." That is plain shallow to start knowledge management.

6. By coming in here and says this not good that not good. You do not provide good reasoning. Look the post by user 'Demon'. He came in and provide the cons and pros of GPS. Why we should use a map instead. That is constructively post.

7. Well your point stands if you navigate to the thailand, indo china etc without a GPS. Well then i must salute you and your navigation. Of course you have to prove it.

8. Lastly all of us are riders or drivers. We know our capability, strength and weakness. Come on, there is no need to come in and put everyone who uses GPS down. You got what it takes. PROVE IT.

has anyone had any experience/encounters with ALLBRIGHT inregards to their Garmin?

So far i bought a zumos security mount from them. Their boss patrick is a nice guy. Replied my email quickly. As they do not have the stock in, they promised to bring one for me within 3 weeks. It came on time.

u can try jk trading to get yr ramount stuff locally.

u pay alittle more but u get to actually see and see which product fits yr bike and no hassle on the shipping bit.

im certain they are able to bring in whatever u require.

but check the prices first.

if its a rare part, u might be paying a alot more and it might worthwhile to just pay the shipping.
