Thanks for the feedback on the RAM mount. Read somewhere that vibrations can damage a GPS, hence my question.

Re mini-handhelds, I am pretty happy with my Vista HCx, perhaps for people looking at the 60CSx, might be a good option. Plus prices had came down.

Cheers

Thanks a lot for the lead. So likewise if I buy Nuvi 500 from overseas, I can also use it in Singapore, and load local and Malaysian maps with no problems?

nuvi 500, JK commercial was selling about 340 S$, local set (you can claim warranty in Singapore)

Officially, the 60CSx is not a discontinued model

https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=167

The 60CSX is still the preferred handheld gps, especially among the mappers because it has proven to be rugged, precise, and reliable. Garmin tried very hard to kill this model with newer generation models such as the Colorado and Oregon, but the 60CSx refuses to die.

Garmin is notoriously known for buggy software in their new models, so if you get the 62 now, be prepared for some issues. Garmin will fix it eventually but it will take time. If they can't, they will kill it like what they did to Colorado.

Another reason for not jumping into it is the price. Feature wise, the 62S is the closest to the 60CSx. If you check AMAZON, for the price of one 62S you can buy almost two 60CSX. It may not be a fair comparison since technologically the 62 is definitely more superior but how many user will know the difference ?

If you need more waypoints, more routings more track logs capacity, built-in tidal almanac, NEMA interface, then the 62S is the correct model for you.

lol... what is "alamak... KNN interface" ?? i am sure i dont need such...

The Nuvi 500 is only S$340 from JK Commercial? That's a good price. Did you have to bargain? The price listed on their website is $499, see the link below. Really very tempting if it is S$340 :)

By the way, does JK offer service to help connect GPS to power source of bike? Anyone has any experience? I'm really hopeless at electrical stuff...

What bike you riding? What I did was connect directly to the battery using the original garmin cable.

Thanks for the info. $630...wow that's quite expensive. What's the cost of just the GPS, if you don't mind sharing.

with a decent mount and road legal riding styles, it should hold.

i think package and price has been changed.

when i got it.. 499$ package includes

-bike charger (50 S$)

-ram mount set (120 S$)

so minus 170 $ from 499 package left GPS nuvi 500 for only 329$.
