Hi, would like to find out about the ET8 key. Read online that there is a master key, from which spares can be made? My 2nd-hand ET8 only came with 1 key --- don't know whether that is master or not. Do you know what comes with a new ET8? How many keys do you have? How to get spares and how much would that be? Thanks.

i think there is a anti theft device or something like dat on the ET8.

the key has a chip in it to bypass the circuitry blahblahblah.

so juz go remove it n ani other duplicated key will be granted access

Urmmmm. There's no way you can do that unless you do abit of wiring mod between the immobilzer unit and the CDI.

The immobilzer circuit will detect the presence of the chip key before it will send a signal to the cdi for the cdi to work.

Typically it's programable to take other chip keys. But you must have the master key to do the programming. A unprogrammed bike, the system will restrict it to go max 2000rpm. A programmed one will be able to reach original max RPM.

I'm not sure whether the ET8's immobilizer is intergrated or not. But there is a short cut way.

Duplicate the keys first. Then open up the panels. Put the key(the one with the chip) next to the immobilzer antena and secure it there. The antena is actually a metal tube and is next to the key cylinder. This will solve the problem the need to detect the immobilzer chip in the key. Secure the chip key properly inside before closing the panel. You might want to test out first before closing the panel.

Option 2. There's are key cloning service available. Silica make normal and chipped keys also. And they do have chip cloning service. But Not cheap hor.

Heard it was in the $30~$50 range per key.

brother, your knowledge has no barriers man!

so wat is your ride now?

i think the other time when i juz bought my bike and knew nuts bout it, an old uncle removed a black box thingy from the front and claimed dat it was the immobilizer.

No lah

I'm just another clown who wants to know everything about his bike.

judging the way you discribe it.I think the immobilizer circuit is simple.

Seems like, upon detection of the chipped key, it will send signal to the cdi.

By removing it. Guess you have to short the 2 wire at the cdi. 1 is signal from CDI

to immobilizer. Another is immobilizer to cdi signal. Guessing:cheeky:

My ride? after selling my VXR, my next bike is one the way.

It's under registration. Project "yellow phoenix". :cheeky:

Now is still Huinikusu Genmaken Phrase. And soon HonYu Tensho Phrase :cheeky:

Thanks, that's very useful info! Seems like most of you don't have master key for your ET8...

So Silica is the name of the key duplicating company? Do you know where it is?

I have a bit of problem starting my scoot. Not sure if it is due to the battery.

Hi Peepz,

Been facing a problem with parking...anyone here can offer solution??

Everytime i park at those shopping centres car park on my main stand...always end up cannot push the bike down when i wanna leave..instead of pushing the bike down...i juz keep dragging it forward until my main stand now alot alot of scratches...and have to enlist help of passerbys to help me push..very paiseh leh :cheeky:

parking at normal car park ie. rough surfaces...no problem...

how how??

Don't sit on the scoot when ur trying to push it down from the main stand. If u really have to sit on it to get in down, try to place ur left foot exactly on the floor infront of ur main stand.

Don't mean to be rude, but if ur foot cannot reach the floor while on the main stand, push it off my standing on the side, one hand on the handle, one hand under the rack/grab rail and one foot in front of main stand.

OLD NO GO, NEW NO COME.

err...tried all methods liao...sitting...standing...everything...

even those uncles who try to help me also got problem...gotta use alot of force...which obviously i dont have lah...

I can demo for u if u stay around west side should u need it. Not trying to show off but the X9 which I use to ride have this problem if the floor is too smooth but I overcame it using the method mentioned above abd I'm sure X9 is heavier than ET8.

hmmm...i face dat too.

i put my foot in front of the main stand..(sort of act like a barrier) den i push.

or.....i juz sit, den tilt the bike left all the way until the main stand gives way and retracts. but make sure u can shift back the weight of the scoot k? if not will fall.

and this causes the bike to demount wif a THUMP. dunno in the long run will spoil anithing or not.

haha.

anything can PM me.

Ya, jp's method of placing ur left foot infront of the main stand is a better as i oso uses this method when on smooth surface. But got to be extra careful of ur legs and ur balancing.

Try not to sit on ur bike to release from main stand as this is not good.

I see. Thanks alot.

Just wondering is it phrasing out soon. Cos I'm concern about parts.

And I also notice that Piaggio Italy only have ET4 150. No ET8 150.

Wondering are they actually the same?

I'm just looking at options for bike changing for the future. maybe 1 yr later?

Hope you don't mind me looking for you when I'm changing to ET8?

Once again Thanks.
