Hi Ah pek,

I got this very frustrating problem with my s4 vtec1. my ride is fitted wif a givi e45 initially, and when i free hand, my handlebar will vibrate and swing left n right.

i went to planet n asked if fork or whatever got problem or not, then ah chong told me is my box that is causing the vibes. I told him my fren also got fix a box (but his is a e52) but he doesnt has this problem. then he tell me is the shape of my box that cause the vibes. LOL

So, i went to change to a e52 box 3days ago..... and it got worse... the vibes came more earlier than the time my bike is fitted with e45 box... i just slightly release my handlebar n it starts swinging already.

Can u enlightment me on this? I m seriously v irritated by it. even when i m riding wif both hands gripping on my handlebar, i can feel the vibration. Btw i even fixed a pair of motovation balancer. But nothing seems to help leh.... :(

yup!

install voltmeter! then you will know your battery voltage!

if not can know it when you rev your bike. if your headlight become brighter a lot when you rev your bike then might be battery low.

erm, you got install voltmeter? for me, i based on my voltmeter to know. cause last time my bike voltage dropped as my bike speed when higher.

eg. travel at 70km/hour is 13.7v. but travel at 100km/hour is 13.2v.

which mean charging got problem, thus is either rectifier or magnetic coil spoil.

that's what i know. :angel::cheeky:

But digital voltmeter not that accurate. :sian: LoL! So meaning the faster i go, the higher the voltage will rise?

Maybe you can try pump a few psi on the front tyres see how? Or its time to change steering cone? :help:

My FC is killing me man!!! Full tank, 200km left 1 bar already. Past 2 weeks its 300+km then hit reserve. Somebody pls help! :faint: Just for you to know that I've just installed hella horns, grounding and eps power charger. That could'nt be the problem right? Since eps power charger lets you save more FC. Grounding also got nothing to do with my FC. And of course, my hella horns also got nothing to do also. Mine's vtec III btw. Now I dunoe what to do... :sian:

hmm... i did pump my front tyres to 250. i was thinking if it is due to my front disc brake. because one piece was bent. Waiting for a second hand. haha.

Btw how much is a steering cone and how will I know if I need to change?

Before I installed EPS and grounding, it's ok. Only after I installed EPS and grounding then the drastic change in my FC. I never whack at all. I stay Pasir Ris, I work at changi cargo. Thats all. Even if I whack, still it wont be 200km left 1 bar correct?

Don't worry Ah Pek, I don't blame your stuffs. Your stuffs is the best for sure...:cheeky: Maybe its not for my bike or something like that:angel: This is what I'm gonna do. I will take out the EPS, top-up full tank and re-monitor my FC. Will update here again soon.

Every time when you change bearing, be sure to ask ur mech to apply grease...

Hmm... I still think it's your steering cone bro, since you've already changed your wheel bearing...:)

Meaning to say partly is because of the box?

yes.. the box plays a small part probably cos with the box the bike is not steamlined. otherwise tighten the steering cone and see how.

Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.

Woah dude, you read my mind!

Today I was just bored so I tried free-hand at 3rd gear approaching red light.

My handlebar vibrated violently! Just like what our bro Ah_Lun described. I also have a box. But is it seriously the box?

However, once i begun to apply brakes, and let go, free hand again, the vibration stops, and it is able to roll just fine. At low speeds, there is no vibration too. And its not really vibrations, its like someone taking the handlebar and shake for money like that.

Is it the front wheel bearings?

Kindly enlighten. Thanks in advance.

I make this sweet and short.

In the first place..I don't understand why ppl need to ride 'freehand'...LOL!

Box does not play a part in what is happening to your bike handling unless you are on highway travelling at 100km to 140km and there are bad cross wind.

In this kind of situation, I can only recommend that you check your tyre pressure, condition and type of tyres. Handle wobbles are usually caused by this factors and even bad cone or front wheel wearing normal wear and tear does not cause this kind of behaviour.

At any rate..letting off your handle and faulting the bike as such is not in any practice a way to fault find a bike handling problem. You does so only if to see if its gradually sway to the right or left to check if fork alignment and fork clamp are proper..becos, if it does sway..its an accident bike and have not been correctively done proper.

Your bike might behave the way it is now..but after awhile, say a few weeks time..its okay. Again, riding at different speed, engine braking, load in your box and sitting position makes this kind of free hand testing rubbish.

As for vibration..dunno know why ppl love to install so call 3 point crash bar. Its all wrong as the mounting points are making use of engine mounted points. Take it off ppl and make use of those towo bolts on the fron't bar chassis.

Above all IMHO...others may differ.:sian:

I believe its your box causing the problem. Even mine also have. The new balancer will help when you crusing on the highway. You will find it more stable and less loose (light) feeling compare to the small original ones. You put fork brace also no use.

OUr bike slightly diff from those street bikes with fairing. If those bikes without box let go handle bar and starts to swing like ours. hohohoh. faint liao

Questions answered... Lol! Yeah, abt the 3 point crash bar thingy, it actually makes sense. I met Ah Pek 2 weeks back and he explained the crash bar mounting points. Mine's wrong, so deciding to take it off or find another crash nar that mounts on the 2 bolts at the front chassis.

hm... yours higher you go voltage higher meh? After changing coil, the numbers changed but readings are the same as before

But digital voltmeter not that accurate. :sian: LoL! So meaning the faster i go, the higher the voltage will rise?

Digital voltage is only rough guide line. I used a multimeter to check its off by how much. For me lower gear and lower speed higher voltage, go faster and higher gear actually dropped. Same as what army_acc said but after replacing coil the numbers changed 13.7 to 14.1v but remains the same (higher dropped). Only diff is charge is much higher. Ocos I can't compare a new coil to old coil. Do post here after you found out your problem. changed my rect less than 10mths, batt 6~8mth and coil ~1mth. Changing new bike next. wuhahaha

You try to lift up your front wheel holding the handle bar ( tilt to the left) then you slowly turn from left to right or right to left. feel for a notch or rough feeling. If you can rock loosely then gone case liao (make sure the cone bearing nut is not loose). If you brake hard and your can feel your handle bar rock also gone case(make sure the cone bearing nut is not loose). My 2 cents thoughts is normally you will have a notch feeling in the center as Sg road so many pot holes its just normal wear and tear but get it change is really bad. If you corner and feel wobbly mostly is front rim bearings. Find a trusted motortiam to check.
